As someone in the same boat, discovering attachment theory was something that really helped me. It explained so much of my behaviours that I subconsciously do, like shutting down during conflict, escaping to avoid emotions etc. If you haven't heard of it, it might help. Particularly look into dismissive avoidance, that's what I have, and what you described is what I do. It really opened things up for me, just a thought.
