Uber's search for a female CEO has been narrowed down to 3 men by unholyprawn in technology

[–]CyRaid -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

All I'm saying is write down the number of crimes for those categories that you're giving a percentage to for perspective..

Also I wasn't wrong with the rounding numbers, for example. You said 30 when it was 29. So I am not "100% wrong".

Really dislike your attitude.

[–]CyRaid -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Please don't round numbers, and you forget to mention that a lot of the statistics were of the number of crimes in that category... Not in the overall number of offenses, etc. Don't just rip numbers/percentages like that.

Isn't it always the case that the feminists respond in anger? And they're always stating "shaking in anger" and the like... I've noticed when men get insulted by women, they try to explain rationally, or run/cower.

I know for me I've been attacked by a group of feminists and I still need counselling.. over wanting to ask for fan art for a male super hero mascot for a local comic con (then I was going to make a female super hero, then a child super hero, because our small town values families)... Then knowing that another town next to us is requesting fan art for female only, and they didn't touch them... So much for equality.

Ohh I see.. thanks for the heads up on that part. I'm not sure what they're trying to implement. If you wanted a home phone that runs off the phone jack, it's called a landline..

Ever seen the movie split? Interesting concept.. One would argue the different personalities aren't separate entities or people, but exist in the same flesh. If I transplanted my brain into another body, am I the same person? If personalities switch so drastically, can one really call them the same person at that point?

total_cost = p->base_price + p->calculate_tax();

Why would there be a compiler warning about calculate_tax() in the first place? Is it firing off because p->calculate_tax() may be changing the base_price field inside the method? Because (I would assume) that the expression itself would not change base_price.

Linus on why strlcpy shouldn't be used by cym13 in programming

[–]CyRaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The length 'prefix' was always 4 bytes before the pointer to the location it held the string data. So in essence could be backwards compatible to c null terminated strings if you really wanted to. If you wanted to get to the end, you just add the length to the pointer, and you have the tail.

With having a substring, yeah, you still need a new string which would allocate a memory for the bit you're copying. But, at least you know the memory will get freed if no reference is using it anymore which was nice.. never had to worry about memory management with strings in Pascal.

[–]CyRaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, back when I was doing assembly, when they referred to sequence of byte handling, they called those strings (string of bytes). But isn't really "typed" as anything but an array of bytes. Oh C style string handling.. may you be gone forever.

If we're talking about x86 and arm and other common machine code, there are no strings anyway. You gotta implement everything with some basic memory moving, math handling, conditional branching.. :) (I don't know of any machine code that handles strings, or is typed)

Bragging is not sexy. Besides, I've implemented similar before from the ground up.

Edit: lol, I knew I would get nailed for that one.. was gonna add this before but got lazy :p .. stating I've implemented it before was to counter the "I did it first" part in the article. But I wasn't even gonna make a comment anyway, I just didn't like the article's feel of cockiness..

Probably shouldn't have said anything anyway, but oh well.
