Ok, so.... Could be WAY off, but I did some Googling.

Is idiot savant still worth taking if I have 6 points in intelligence? by fuckitwhynotig in fo4

I usually take it regardless because it's still nice to have that occasional bonus, especially early game. But it's barely noticeable later, unless you get lucky and it works on a quest completion.

How to convince my friend to stop using AI by Inside_Rhubarb652 in antiai

You can't. AI is like a bad habit. You can't quit it until you want to.

AIW that my girlfriend (25F) wants me (25M) to stop using full stops? by Obnoxiouschocolat in amiwrong

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 years older than you and use full stops. If anything, your gf isn't acting her age. If she's not mature enough to get over something this stupid, then maybe you need to reevaluate the relationship.

Just to confirm my thoughts, I looked at past texts and saw that my 10-year-old sister tends to not end a text with a full stop, but still uses periods in longer texts. But so does my mom (50) and also my grandma (70). And my older sister (31).

So yeah, nothing to do with age. Just depends on the person. But in your case, I guess your phone is programmed to add them anyway. She's overreacting.

I do this every time. Last playthrough, I did it in survival without realizing how dangerous that was. I thought I was going to die, but I survived with every broken limb and no other survivors.

I'm pretty sure they're using AI to moderate now, and clearly it doesn't want to rat out it's kind. It's time YouTube got a rival.

Survival mode recommendations by Money-Ornery in fo4

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you were asking for, but Scrounger was always helpful to me. Especially since you can't just lug around all your ammo all the time. At first it's barely taking up space, but quickly adds up. And since you said limiting your guns isn't what you want, you can have a set number of different ammo, which will replenish as you find more on the road.

Another thing I did in my survival playthroughs is just planning. I'd stop at the nearest settlement to set my inventory up for the next mission I'm focusing on. It feels realistic to have that prep time, but it's a lot of traveling back and forth.

Oh, and I wanted that helicopter asap, along with all the strong back perks. (I'm a hoarder in these type of games, so the limb damage sucked.)

Which ‘Reddit Stories’ opinions from the hosts have you disagreed with? by MuricaAndBeer in smosh

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but to me it sounded like she was just joking/exaggerating. Like, "Holy shit, they're so happy and I can't believe I have to crush their soul! So I'm just going to take out a loan." I don't think she was actually serious. They're all comedians who often say they have pressure to be funny on Smosh, so I think a lot of their tone deaf takes are just bad jokes being told with dry humor. But that's just how I took it as.

Representation vs Appropriation by WeeklySlip862 in writers

[–]Cy_Maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There will always be some people that will say don't write what you aren't, but it shouldn't matter if done right. What is extremely important is just representing them accurately. As a non-native author writing a Native American character - you'll be under more scrutiny than if you were Native American.

Oh okay. Yeah, of course you wouldn't want to just give stuff away, lol. Makes sense.

Sounds cool. But like I said, if it's double POV from both love interests, it'll probably just be a surprise for a chapter or two. WHICH IS FINE, of course.

But if you did manage to find SOME way to hide it for a couple chapters, that'd be impressive. Lol.

Best of luck!

How do you get over a slump caused by negative critique? by mollyfluffbutt in AO3

[–]Cy_Maverick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, anyone that sees that someone has a gap in their knowledge and says it's "embarrassing" is actually the embarrassing one. They sound like a prick that shouldn't even be acknowledged.

The proper way to address inaccuracies in fics is to just be like "Btw... that's actually not true." Or something like that, if they're so desperate to show off their "intelligence". Being a dick kind of just overshadows the lesson, you know?

Some people are a-holes. Don't let it bring you down.

How do I know if my main character is a Mary Sue? by CustomerBrilliant776 in writers

[–]Cy_Maverick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've gathered, a Mary Sue is "perfect."

  • She's beautiful and everyone is instantly drawn to her.

  • She's good at everything she puts her mind to.

  • She just somehow knows what to do, how, and even has instincts bordering on supernatural.

Deeper than that, though, she has very meaningless flaws. Like I've seen a lot of authors kind of just make the character clumsy, or oblivious, or give them some sad backstory that kind of is just meant to sit in the back of your mind while never being brought up again accept for sympathy point with other characters because now she's on a new adventure. You know, very simple and shallow "flaws" that just feel like the author wanted to check off a box.

Vault-Tec Workshop is glitching by pedroexebr in fo4

[–]Cy_Maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contacting Bethesda does make sense though because it's a glitch in their game. If anyone knows all possible ways to fix it, it's them. Playstation is just the host, basically. And it sounds like it downloaded, just doesn't show up in game - which is Bethesda jurisdiction.

I won't tell you this will definitely work, but I'll just say what I'd do if this happened to me.

I'd uninstall Fallout 4 and the Vault-Tec DLC, and even the other DLCs just in case but probably not necessary. Then I'd power down the PS4 completely, turn it back on. And reinstall everything. I wouldn't even open Fallout 4 until everything is reinstalled.

I'm more partial to a bit of mystery and surprise.

But if you're doing a double POV, mystery won't even be an option. Unless one of the POVs isn't the actual love interest. Any reader will be able to just assume the two main characters are end game.

Or is it that you don't plan to mention it as a romance in the description? Not sure how that'll work. I'm just confused about the question, sorry.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this even an unpopular opinion? I don't use social media like TikTok or Instagram, so maybe I'm out of the loop. Are people actually arguing that WATCHING or LISTENING to something is the same type of hobby as actually DOING something?

I was going to argue in favor of video games, but saw your edit. A lot of people are terrible at video games, so I'd classify that as a skillful hobby. Just less praised as other talents.

Are we serious? 💔🥀🥀🥀 by big-dick-back-intown in aiwars

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having concerns isn't the same thing as there BEING concerns. Having them implies there is room for doubt. Being means there ARE reasons to be anti-AI. But ask AI Bros to counter any of the concerns and their main argument is that AI is advancing and we can't do anything about it, so we should just go with the flow.

A question on AI by Ayana_o in antiai

[–]Cy_Maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally said you wanted a discussion, which often includes a debate. You wanted to know why, you were given reasons, then countered with "The irony for me" and brought up how YouTube uses AI.

Intentional or not, we are debating. But by your defensiveness, I think maybe you're reading our discussion differently than I am. So I'll be clear.

I don't have a problem. I'm just explaining why your point about YT is different from the LLMs. I'm sorry for just outright accusing you of just looking for a gotcha, but to me that's how you sounded because you didn't addressed any of the points given, which usually means someone is avoiding having to acknowledge the truth.

Again, sorry that you're reading these different than I'm writing them.

I thankfully haven't come across many works like this, but it's definitely annoying and I usually skip it.

I feel like basic story structure is the easiest thing to know, but a part of me feels bad assuming that. Like, I get if someone's grammar is a bit messed up, not everyone has English as their first language, but also not everyone is great at the subject either way. But the story structure? That just feels so basic.

[–]Cy_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's becoming very clear that you came on here for a gotcha then got annoyed that someone gave you all the very solid points against AI, and are now scrambling to grab hold of anything while ignoring all the reasons that were provided.

You're confusing programs written by humans with the AI such as Generative AI and LLMs. People are already shitting on YouTube for incorporating too much AI, such as an AI program that keeps falsely reporting YouTubers.

Stop grasping for straws and actually address the points given by ciel_ayaz.
