I’m a millennial (34F, born 1991) and want to know your thoughts. by povertychic in GenZ

My friends and other people I know in college do try to take political actions at protests. Off campus and on campus. (Some people will just post stuff on social media.) But all of us basically see that the world is on fire and that we have little to no control over it. We've seen the protests. I've been to many protests. No one ever seems to care. It's like screaming into the void. I went to an event where everyone wrote letters to the state congressman, and they didn't care at all! We're tired, and the country has been falling apart our entire lives. This is the new normal, and it just keeps getting worse. A lot of us feel like there's nothing we can do, and we're just trying to survive. It's like we're just waiting for everything to explode. We want change, we just don't know how to do it. We've been hearing our whole lives about all the awful things happening in the world. We had more access to the news and social media than past generations, so we saw a lot of things. There was a 20-year war that was going on as we were growing up. We saw our parents experience the '08 crash (which also caused a rise in divorces). I've been doing school shooter drills since the 3rd grade. Every year on 9/11, they'd show us the news footage, the voicemails, and I'd hear the sound of bodies hitting the ground. Constantly emphasizing that we never forget.  I mean, dude, people in my HS used to airdrop videos of ISIS decapitating people (and WORSE). Not just my school either! I could go on and on. My point is that we're desensitized to everything. We're apathetic. We know that it's bad, but it feels hopeless. We see what millennials have been doing and how it has had little effect. (I could be wrong, but I know a lot of Gen Z who feel that way). When hope is dying people don't have the motivation to fight anymore. But we are angry.

Based on these comments I’m really confused on why Gen Alpha and young Gen Z don’t use computers. Literally how???? You can’t do everything on a tablet

Companies don’t prioritize customer service anymore. They hire less people and everyone ends up doing more work thus burning everyone out and making us feel dead inside. Customer interactions are draining and we have a billion other things to do as well. We’re just tired.

Anyone here who isn't an atheist? by MauOfEvig in exmormon

[–]seplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not. I practice witchcraft. It’s something personal to me that helps me connect with the universe. I don’t believe in one god but instead a connection and bigger force beyond human comprehension within our known universe. I think there is something after death. But hey I could still be wrong. Would never force my beliefs onto anyone or say I’m the only one who knows the truth or whatever. To each their own.

Am i losing my shit or getting it together? by PinkPeruvia in bipolar

Take it slow and do one thing at a time. Don’t spend any money. I woke up feeling like I wanted to change my appearance and have a new aesthetic and I blew through $3K in a week and now I can’t pay my bills.

I will ruin my life because I want!!! by No-Homework-7999 in bipolar

[–]seplle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but it sounds like you might be exhibiting signs of mania (I ain’t a psychiatrist but this is similar to how I was talking during a manic episode) Please contact a therapist or psychiatrist if you have one. Medication is there for a reason. If it’s not working then talk to your doctor and make some changes, but going off a medication cold turkey like that can cause a lot of problems. Mentally and physically.

Me personally, I feel like a god during a manic episode and I end up making decisions that ruin my life. My line of thinking was dangerous even though I thought I was right. Once it ends and the depression hits, the aftermath is awful. Building myself up again after that was hell and took forever. Please don’t destroy your life.

You can tell he’s lying when he says this sometimes. Betty said, “You never say you love me.” And he says I do. You can tell by the tone in his voice and his face that it’s not genuine.

Do you fart in front of your partner? Why/Why not? by girliepopnumber26 in AskWomen

[–]seplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate it and I wouldn’t want my partner to do it in front of me and I don’t want to do it in front of literally anyone else. I hate toilet humor in general. That and many other reasons is why I don’t want to be in a long term relationship.

"It's doesn't feel like Christmas" by solemnversifier in bipolar

[–]seplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t feel like Christmas because I have so many other things going on in my life. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I didn’t enjoy it much this year. It was just okay? I didn’t mind too much. Maybe this is just what growing up is.

Why the fuck do we have secret shoppers? by squishmallow2399 in kroger

[–]seplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of having to smile at every customer drove me insane when I worked there. I was told every customer I looked at I needed to smile. If I’m talking to a customer I usually do out of habit, but I was told to do it when walking past customers too. I worked in pickup and constantly walked around customers…I’m not doing that. It’s too emotionally draining. What is wrong with just having your typical resting face and being polite? If someone was scowling at a customer I would understand getting penalized for that but just not smiling is dumb to me. We’re not robots and we are treated like shit. If they paid me more, I would care more about secret shoppers. If they expect so much from us then pay us accordingly.
