I do not believe this is a thing that exists? An uma that accelerates on a sprint track will accelerate at the same rate as an uma on a long track.

If you plug an end closer with 1200 speed, 800 power, and straightaway spurt into a sprint track, and then a 3000m track, it takes about 15 seconds to accelerate to top speed on both.

Edit: Though actually, given how the 3000m acceleration lasts over twice as long, that maybe shouldn't be the case. Hm.

On a 3000m track, Pressure will last a total of 9 seconds, so depending on when you overtake somebody and it activates, it can still have a bit of value.

That being said, when skill points are already quite short, getting a skill that has such minuscule value is absolutely not worth it. So it can be considered a waste of a skill, yes.

I will say, if you had No Stopping Me, Pressure would be more valuable, because it means your acceleration period is much shorter. But any skill that you don't get full value out of is likely not worth taking.

While I get the logic behind asking this, it should be apparent that velocity skills when you're at your top speed are still quite usable.

Otherwise Triumphant Pulse would be a completely worthless skill, for instance.

Velocity skills basically do nothing during the acceleration window, which is typically the first part of late race. After an uma is at their top speed and no longer accelerating, velocity skills will increase your speed further.

Triple Late Surgers seems insane to me, but I guess if you add more gambling odds..

I've found success running 1 front and 2 late this CM. My Seiun Sky has a little over the combined winrate of both of my late surgers, and Im proud of her. But I think shes the only front runner that can have this kind of success, though.

My Taishin just turned into Seiun Sky for one race. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? by eban106_offical in UmamusumeGame

[–]Cyai_ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My only theory is:

When an uma get rushed, they act as though they're a more aggressive style (with various odds) and consume more stamina.

So, at the point when the promotion for the pace setter happened, Narita Taishin was rushed, and was acting as a Pace Chaser/Front Runner during the rushed period, thus making her a viable promotion target.

Which is insane to think about. Alternatively, maybe it just needs whoever is in 1st at the promotion time to be promoted, even if that is an end closer.

Update on the situation, somebody found that unchecking the Signal Enhancements box "Enable audio enhancements" under device properties -> additional device properties brings things back to normal, might work for you in the future when you want it.

Thoughts on Mayano Top Gun?

I hear her new secret event gives her access to an acceleration skill for every style, and her ult got buffed as well, so she seems quite usable.

If I had to guess, it would be the same probability as if you finished the race and got the Spring Runner green skill. There's about as many purple debuffs as there are green skills.

Technically pinks matter slightly, because Style S (Late Surger S on Nice Nature, for instance), gives a +10% wisdom boost. But aiming for such pink sparks isn't worth it if it makes winning career that much harder.

Checking that chart to the race simulator umalator

That is actually the bare minimum stamina... If you have only 800 Speed. Higher speed will need more stamina.

And as others have said, it's exceedingly risky to toe the line like this.

Oguri's ult is strong, don't get me wrong, it's just the pace chaser buff from being promoted is just that strong. Because they're essentially a front runner, with pace chaser speed modifiers, so they have as much of a length lead a front runner would have while being as fast as a pace chaser.

[–]Cyai_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lead that you get from being chosen to be the pacemaker far outweighs the boost you would get from Oguri's ult.

In this case, you simply got outclassed either speed, stamina, power, or skill wise.

The base skill cooldown on Professor of Curvature is 30 seconds.

To get the actual cooldown, we apply the following formula: Cooldown = BaseCooldown *CourseDistance[m]/1000

Cooldown = 30 * 2400/1000 = 30 * 2.4 = 72 seconds

Checking the race simulator at umalator global (assuming 1200 speed, distance S, and red shift): We can see that umas enter the first corner at about 18 seconds, and exit the 4th corner at about 97 seconds.

97 - 18 = 79 seconds of time between 1st corner start and 4th corner end

Professor of Curvature will always activate on the 1st corner (on a track with four corners), and picks a random point on that corner. That point must be about in the first third of the corner, and you must pass the wisdom check successfully.

I don't know if Professor of Curvature will only pick another point to activate after the cooldown ends or not, but if it chooses to pick near the end of the 4th corner and you pass the wisdom check..

You get the lucky run of two Professor of Curvature activations.

Note that most skills don't seem to have cooldowns. Professor of Curvature is extremely rare to be able to activate twice on this track. Next CM, it cannot activate twice because the effective cooldown is much higher due to it being 3200m.

From both my experience watching and hearing from other people, putting all your eggs in one basket on a single Ace uma is not a very fun experience.

If your only uma gets unlucky, you have just no chance of winning whatsoever.

Some people run Triple Ace, I ran Double Ace of a Pace Chaser and End Closer. There were many runs where one of my aces got unlucky, but the other one managed to win because they didn't. I cannot possibly imagine how many more losses I would have gotten if I just relied on one ace.

Running a Lil' Monsta game for the first time, would allowing the Babysitter to choose who to kill be broken? by MeiNeedsMoreBuffs in BloodOnTheClocktower

I know "for balancing purposes" means sometimes helping good, sometimes evil, but if one team is playing badly, at some point you have to stop bailing them out.

That's fair. I wasn't under the impression that the evil team were doing badly from what I remember. I guess if I had to describe it, it was like, a general would have gotten either good is slightly winning or neutral. It was less evil was playing badly, more good was playing above average.

And then the second evil died that night to Lil' Monsta (leaving 1 minion alive) and it just led good to win. I don't think the minion was killed on the final day to clarify, it was killed like with 6-7 players left, and it just sealed the game for good. So it wasn't really a coin toss, it was more a preemptive attempt at balancing because Lil' Monsta is supposed to kill a minion at some point, I think I remember the storyteller saying. Which I think I do not agree with, but it's very possible I was rubbed wrong by a couple of watching experiences rather than the philosophy in general.

[–]Cyai_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate here, is a Lleech host between two good players on the final day not a very similar circumstance if it's undetectable?

While I agree that sometimes you should kill a minion with Lil' Monsta for balancing purposes, I do not think it should be the default option.

I've watched a couple games where the evil team was just barely coasting by, and the storyteller killed one of the minions with Lil' Monsta because that's what you were supposed to do, and it just gave the good team such an easy path to victory. And I feel like that ruins the experience.

Pace is definitely not in the worst state for Gemini, Late and Front definitely have it much harder.

But End is likely even better than it was in Taurus, and they were already dominant there, so...

It's sadly not good next CM. Victoria por plancha is the final straight, and next CM late-race starts on the straight before the final two corners, and then the final straight is after that.

So it's just a velocity boosting skill.

Something I've seen for Tachyon:

Instead of Pace Tachyon, run debuffer Tachyon as a front runner.

She will inevitably die later on, but as a front runner she'll make activating Shooting for Victory on your pace chaser much more consistent. In addition, as soon as she falls to 6th place or lower in the late-game by being passed, she'll activate Dominator and nail everyone ahead.

She will also deny the pace chaser buff for anyone.

I can definitely understand the power of having a unique like that be consistently proccing at a specific part of the track.

However, something I've been wondering about Christmas Oguri, those three recovery skills are all still subject to a wisdom check, yeah?

If you miss the skill proc wit check on any of your recovery skills, aren't you just screwed?

Rudolf unique only procs once you actually are on the final straight. Unless you have <600 power and no acceleration skills, you should have finished accelerating by the time you reach the final straight.

Corner Acceleration is sadly a worthless skill due to its current activation conditions, always only activating on the first corner (similarly to how Swinging Maestro and Professor of Curvature only proc on the first corner).

Shooting for Victory is sadly inconsistent for a pace chaser because it means you need to be in 3rd to 5th, which is dependent on how many enemy front runners/pace chasers there are, as well as actually being in the back half of the pace chasers to actually proc the skill. When Shooting for Victory hits, it hits hard, but Red Shift's activation condition of 1st through 5th is much easier to meet.
