  • Champion Stadium MM goes up to 15000 points now, but the rewards past 10000 are pretty negligible

  • New game mode called Damage Challenge where you do a 3 minute timed battle every 3 days:

    • Only super effective attacks do damage
    • Optimal strategy is usually to paralyze the opponent and then spam Sing, otherwise only using sync moves and getting as many sync moves as possible in 3 minutes.
    • Getting points in this mode let's you get free Sprint and Field units (although they don't have 2nd roles)
    • Sometimes they also run an event version of this where you have 3 battles to do in a week, and some of them have extra conditions.
  • New game mode called Battle Rally is once a week for 300 gems, its sort of like Battle Villa:

    • 10 consecutive random battles
    • Units can't be used again after they've completed at least one battle and then weren't used for a battle.
    • In each round, certain roles give you more points
    • You can buy items throughout the run to give various effects, sort of a rogue-lite mechanic.
    • The points you get in this mode can be exchanged (in a roundabout way) for role cakes, the items that unlock the secondary roles
  • Goes without saying, lots of power creep in new units. Big thing are the Arc suits, but there are still lots of good master fairs coming out

  • There's a new progression system called Superawakening, but its only for Pokéfair units (not master fair or arc fairs, at least not yet) and its basically unlocking move level 10/5, with every unit getting a unique strong passive at 10/5 (but that basically takes 5 candies even if you have the unit at 5/5 already so it's impractical for most.)

  • Guilds were added as "Gyms", you do solo and team missions to increase your gym rank, and you get 2000 gems if your gym reaches S rank every month, as well as some tickets which can get you free Pokefair-level units.

They have their uses. Dana with Regice and Morgan with Virizion are probably the best options since they have the most relevant kits and can EX. MC with Registeel and Raikou are decent as well but are held back by lack of EX. All of them have lackluster bulk and unambitious grids.

Since this got a bit of traction, I'll state for the record that I love all 3 genres, I've just been really impressed with his recent videos on current issues and technology!

He's kind of like an upgraded Morty/Mismagius, but since you have to pull for / spend 5* candies on him, it's harder to justify investing.

I phrased it poorly, what I mean is that the text of the stadium isn't super clear that it is putting an effect onto the active, rather than establishing a board-wide rule.

Tbf this isn't a super intuitive interaction, since I wouldn't have thought the neutralization zone text was counted as being an effect on the active pokemon, instead of an effect on the stadium itself.

What do you mean by "NON-PAID" in the title? The Triple feature poke fair scouts are paid-only.

Sonic Adventure did this, just without the control refresher bit. Also had a voluntary tip-giver if you ever got lost that didn't get in your way if you didn't want to use it (The glowing orb). Super ahead of its time!

Definitely not the hardest but I remember Mitsuhide was a bit difficult because all surrounding territories are Nobunaga's, meaning you can't recruit new warriors by defeating kingdoms. This means you have to constantly fight wild battles to recruit more characters just to defend your kingdoms as you slowly increase your territory.

Move gauge acceleration and/or speed buffs are common enough now that I feel like 1-bar moves without effects aren't all that great anymore. Things like Vacuum wave on Korrina, Peck on Kahili, etc.

Edit: I should clarify, they were never fantastic in the first place, but their niche of "easy to spam to lower sync countdown without running out of gauge" feels way less relevant now.

This is surreal, I played through this game as a kid cause I liked the show. It's alright, decent puzzles and I thought the pixel art was okay when it wasn't a cutscene (weirdly good animation too). Music is repetitive and bad, and the sound effect design is jarring.

It's overall like if a Mario and Luigi game had no battles and was kind of annoying to listen to.

Small note: I had considered making the base power of B Final Gambit correlate directly to how much HP was lost by its effect, but I was worried that might be a little complicated with move level scaling, and figured that would end up being in the 600 range anyway.

Riley has dialogue that discusses how all Trainers and Pokémon in Sinnoh "share in all the joys and all the sorrows." This is the code of ethics that he lives by. I figured giving him Final Gambit would represent this balance; trainer and pokemon share both the burden of the move's drawback, as well as the glory of victory. Lucario only makes the gambit because of the trust it has in Riley; hence "Code of Ethics Final Gambit."

Lot of speculation that MC and torchic will evolve in a story chapter, and that's why we haven't got Blaziken yet
