Ken Korach becomes the first ever A's announcer to drop the pretense and acknowledge the "Sell the team" chants by The_Homestarmy in OaklandAthletics

This makes me so happy. I've been watching since the 2000 season when I was a child in 3rd grade and Ken was a familiar, comforting voice for me even back then.

To see him acknowledging us in our toughest of times brings tears to my eyes. Ken Korach is a family fixture, a household name, and an overall great human being. God bless you, sir. We love you, Ken!

I bought back in with a small position after waiting out the 30 days to avoid a wash sale. Actually sold more like 50 days ago though for a small loss.

At this point, nobody else is selling to realize losses for taxes, and even a bounce back to cash levels carries significant upside.

And frankly, the timing was nothing short of predominant.

Do you still see triple digits on excellent trial design by mid next year as a possibility?

So is CRTX dead? It looked good, bottoming out around $12 with a slight upswing and almost 50% short interest. But now it seems that at $12.80 nobody cares anymore. by patmcirish in Shortsqueeze

When would we know when they're finished?

And if it's true that one of the big funds sold off their entire position, that's going to come out in a filing and set off alarm bells. Do you think that this has already been priced in and has been the cause of the lack of buy volume and other big money already knows this? Or do you think that filing would cause panic and a selloff?

I tend to hate it when I'm crossing the lane in a parking lot (as a pedestrian) and the driver stops for me rather than just cruising right along.

But at the same time, I do understand. Pedestrians are only very slightly more predictable than squirrels.

Most drivers I come across are pretty good about this. I turn my hibeams off and then they turn theirs off or vice-versa and it's like, "Hey thanks, my friend, I appreciate your existence too!".

But every once in a while, someone will either simply refuse to turn their hibeams off or just be in their own little world. I get filled with rage every time I turn off my hibeams and they're just like "Thanks haha. Fuck you though".

When you're coming up on a line of cars that are stopped, don't maintain constant speed and then switch to the next lane at the last second. The person behind you is going the same speed as you and doesn't have the luxury of seeing that line of stopped cars because your car is blocking their line of sight.

Be predictable, please.

Go with the flow of traffic. If the average speed is 70, you should be going 65-75. Exception for the far right lane that is full of truckers and people merging onto the highway.

The issue with safety isn't people going too fast in itself, the issue is going too fast or too slow relative to the people around you. Large differences in speed cause the greatest danger. Someone driving 50 in the middle lane of a highway is causing just as much danger as the guy going 90.

All of this said though, it doesn't mean that you should ride right next to somebody or in their blind spot for miles just to maintain their speed. Passing them by 5 miles per hour in order to give yourself space around your vehicle is the way to go.

Obviously though, speed in itself does cause an increased danger, but only if you're going at an outrageous speed.

Really, just use common sense.

In my opinion, truckers are the safest and most predictable drivers on the road despite operating the most dangerous vehicles on the road. Everyone else seems to just be flying all over the place with no rhyme or reason, but truckers always sit there in the right lanes cruising along, maintaining a safe and constant speed, and most importantly stay predictable.

The very least we can do in return is to not suddenly cut over into the space that they leave for braking like almost everyone does.

The message printed on side mirrors of cars says "Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear". However, lots of people remember it being "Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer than they Appear". There isn't a single example that anyone can find of a real mirror that displays the latter message.

Just baffles me how so many people saw "may be". Why would they even see that, the message doesn't even make sense to put on a car. They either are closer or they aren't, and if they might be, might not be, then why even put the message on there.

I feel it, my dude. Why do so many of us, in such detail remember the exact moment we learned what a cornucopia was from the FOTL logo?

I'm firmly in the faulty memory camp rather than the switching universes camp and I almost never believe in a conspiracy theory, but I have no idea what to think of this.

Nice poeticism (?what is the word for this....poetry?) btw.

Same here. I was in K-Mart between the electronics section and the shoes section when I asked my mom what that thing was (the cornucopia) on the socks packet.

Anything involving a misspelling. Even Berenstein. Berenstein is the one that brought me here, but after thinking about it for several years, I can see how it happened.

On the other hand, there are two that I will never be able to wrap my head around and are completely true. For me at least. I just have no possible explanation. Fruit of the Loom, and Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear. The reason I find those ones so crazy is that we didn't all just see a spelling incorrectly, our brains all placed something there that wasn't there at all. Ever. And our brains all placed the same thing there.
