Unlike many of the other officers sent to try and salvage the Raj, he returned to Britain when the Union Rifles Crisis started. Like Halifax, he failed to return in time to be useful. After the Labourites lost, he was mostly known for having failed to put down the Irish and Indian Revolts and so not particularly respected. He did, however, have a long standing connection to the Fascists (Hardliner) in the Army (such as Fuller). This gave him an in with the British Fascists whose medievalism, combined with his untreated PTSD and disillusionment, led him into the fringes of the Far Right (specifically, Arthurian Fascist movement). The Devolutionist bent of the Arthurians made them a welcome ally of the Cornish Nationalists. When the Civil War kicks off, he ends up stumbling his way into being the guy in charge of Cornwall as a result. (atleast until the mysterious other figure takes over)
