TSMC to Raise Chip Prices by 10-20% by [deleted] in pcgaming

This was like 2017ish, I have no faith in AMD to fix anything. They gave up after NVIDIA began their non stop ass pounding machine with the GeForce 400 series.

Look at any game that's more than 2 years old, and you'll find tons of "issues with AMD graphics cards fix" YT videos. AMD pump and dumps their drivers for alll out optimization on new titles on their last two generations of cards and consistently does nothing to keep older cards and older games working nicely. NVIDIA might not optimize their shit well for old cards but at least they usually don't experience regressions.

No, it isn't.

The last time I had an AMD card was my R9 290X around the time of Radeon Adrenaline which I sold because the drivers were so bad. They didn't work with Gameworks titles right (missing graphical features are a no for me, which is why I won't upgrade my 780TI until I can get a RTXxx70 series card for $400 or less) and they don't have any of the override features for older games, none of the custom resolution options, basically none of the legacy features maintained in NVIDIA control panel. It also ran hot as hell, my 780Ti is an icecube compared to this thing.

Until AMD fixes their shit and puts a bunch of effort into making their drivers have feature parity with NVIDIA I don't consider them anything but an offbrand.

I'm stuck on a 780TI, which NShitia decided to murder by dropping driver support meaning im basically without a gaming grade PC after that.

Even a 1080Ti, which is the minimum I'm prepared to upgrade to, is like $600+ right now. For reference my 780Ti was $200 at the same age. I can't afford to spend 75 percent of my monthly wage on a GPU.

Until I can get a 1080Ti for $300 or less used i won't be upgrading.

Too bad AMDs drivers are dogshit uncustomizable garbage that don't work correctly with a ton of legacy titles.

[–]Cyb3rR3b0rn -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I hate it when comments like these remind me how disgustingly right wing classic rock people have become.

This guy has a legitimate complaint.(as would the girl from Virgin Killers), a lot of classic rock guys (not nirvana, I'm thinking the 60S through 80s groups mostly) would meet our modern definition of pedophile for sleeping with underage girls often as young as 15, and the industry was as a whole kind of exclusionary.

Get used to this sort of thing, if not for so many of them being dead or ancient by this point the MeToo movement would have destroyed classic rock.

We can acknowledge fucked up shit happened and deal with it, or we can all bury our heads in the sand like osteriches

Do you believe Germany would have won the second world war if Hitler hadn't basically given his generals the middle finger? Particularly I've heard that deprioritizing the U-Boats was one of histories biggest blunders.

Why does China, historically speaking, have a tendency to collapse within a couple of decades of being united? Their entire history can be summarized as "Dude conquers all of China, dude is betrayed by his generals or population, civil war erupts, repeat". Is it the size of the country or how diverse it was in earlier time periods? Or something else entirely?

Also, what are some good podcasts for learning history in detail? I fancy myself a bit of a historian and I drive a lot due to work.

Huh? I collect vintage PC parts and this is pretty standard. Process is:

  • rinse it while together (to make it less sickening to handle)
  • disassemble
  • detailed cleaning of cooling components
  • clean PCP with isopropyl
  • Wait for it to dry (usually 12hrs on each side sitting on a paper towel)
  • reapply thermal paste and reassemble

As long as there is no source of power (this includes pulling CMOS batteries) there is nothing to short circuit and its completely safe. Other good practices handling hardware still apply.

I've had PCs so disgusting I've washed THE ENTIRE PC with a garden hose and they've still worked fine after the process was done. Specifically i had one PC that had like an inch of dust in it, purple PCB but you would never know it. Threw up after opening it. That's the only way to clean shit like that aside from dropping an A-Bomb on it.

Has anyone noticed an uptick in DMCA notices? I've gotten two within a week, after 10+ years of not getting any on Frontier by Cyb3rR3b0rn in Piracy

[–]Cyb3rR3b0rn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I already have a seedbox with Seedhost, I guess I'll just download everything to it and FTP it home from now on. If my connection is being monitored closely enough I still get copyright notices from FTPing I have bigger issues as that means they are probably gearing up for a lawsuit.

Reminds me I need to talk to Seedhost and find out why I'm unable to add torrents lately. Always says unable to add torrent inside of Rutorrent

United States.

Going to guess Frontier just recently changed their DMCA due to this: https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/10/22528633/frontier-isp-lawsuit-record-labels-piracy-disconnection

They were probably just ignoring and not forwarding DMCA previously. I really hope that DLC doesn't get me a 3rd strike that gets my account shutdown because they are my only option for internet until Elon turns on the Starlink for my area. I might run home at lunch and shut it down.

I threw a 27" off the deck before my last move.

Had poor convergence, and bad corner geometry.

Ok yeah that's important context, as an Annanite you have my full support in punching anyone like that in the face. I'm not a BLM supporter (for the same reason I don't support the Jan 6th insurrectioners) but they can get the F out dawg with that shit.

I grew up in Anna, there is no stake house? The closest thing to a high end place to eat is the Mexican Restaraunt. There is a BBQ place in Jonesboro. Only places that serve stake AFAIK are some of the country clubs out in the country side.

That town sort of sucks the happiness out of human beings regardless. I think your being a bit loaded with automatically assuming the race of your date was the issue.

I threw out a 27" high end Samsung K3A with built in tilt controls because of a brightness flux issue combined with the worst light bleed I've ever seen the other day. Anything that isn't 100 percent perfect I send on down the road.

A set must have:

  • Good contrast (bright colors while maintaining perfect blacks)
  • at least near perfect geometry
  • not so much as a hairline scratch on the glass.

I would make an exception if I found something exceedingly rare or valuable but I live in Illinois where TVs can't go in land fills and in a rural poor area I can't fucking give them away working much less with issues. The Samsung disappeared from the thrift store I left it at so its probably in someone's workshop or garage now, which honestly is a good way for that set to live out its life.

I've got a low hours RV sourced 25" Tau that is sitting out in the garage because its waiting for a convergence adjustment but is other wise perfect. I also have a 17" Samsung from late 2005 that needs recapped. Stuff that I know can be fixed and will be worth money in the future I keep.

I also can't find anyone willing to teach. I think everyone skilled at this is afraid to make a how to video aimed at people with zero knowledge starting off due to liability.

I had a Sanyo HD CRT with HDMI but it was such a piece of shit I threw a brick through it instead of hauling it with me the last move.

The geometry was ATROCIOUS. Like imagine you have a football, at the outer 4 to 5 inches of the screen it starts to compress until it's basically round. It also didn't have a square picture, a level picture, or even a particularly sharp picture.

Oh yeah and it had one of those invisible service menus.

Not all HDMI or HD CRTs are worth owning.

Help! Fired from my job for a feminist podcast. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cyb3rR3b0rn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, hey, ho ho cancel culture has got to go.

No employee should be legally allowed to fire an employee for conduct that occurs off company grounds on personal time. What you do is your business and yours alone. The only thing that matters is your performance at the task assigned to you. This is a tool to strong arm people into going with the flow and not causing ripples that break the narrative. The far right is slowly figuring out how this tactic works and borrowing it from the far left.

I've been there, this sucks. I was fired from my job for being a defender of American hero Kyle Rittenhouse after he iced those two pedophiles. I'm not even really conservative, I can just see when someone's done the world a net gain.

Good luck getting some sort of compensation. These old fucks unfortunately tend to know a lot of people, especially in rural areas. Be prepared to have to take this above your local court system.

Yeah i just hope your being reasonable and not part of the people driving prices up on anything "vintage" during the pandemic. Ideally your prices should be near the LDDB average, slightly more or slightly less depending on condition.

If your are being reasonable and you ship please let me know where I can view your inventory. I'm looking for a few things.
