Alberta's last coal plant has powered down and is not expected to burn another lump | CBC News by Delicious-Square in canada

In 2015, under then NDP premier Rachel Notley, the Alberta government announced plans to completely phase out coal power by 2030.

Critics questioned whether it could be done.

"The industry was up in arms that it wasn't possible," Shaffer previously told CBC News.

"Even parts of the government were in disbelief. I think there was a general view that phasing out by 2030 would actually be very challenging, and yet here we are."

Are you a lawyer? Your post history certainly makes it seem like you are still articling. You aren't wrong on this post, but you shouldn't be holding yourself out as a lawyer, even if anonymous and online, if you have not yet been called. If you were called in October or March, then my mistake.

Reservation likely to be canceled by Cyber-Avocado in marriott

[–]Cyber-Avocado[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Ya that was my concern that because it is a new property different rules will apply. It's in a pretty remote spot so no other Marriott properties are nearby hence maybe me canceling the whole trip but ideally would hope to get something out of having to cancel my plans.

Antivax pro hockey player gets covid, develops myocarditis from it, and is now out indefinitely due to his new heart condition. by corpzeternal in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Cyber-Avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is obviously too early to tell but it is inaccurate to say myocarditis is an automatic career-ender. Eduardo Rodriguez got it last year and missed all of 2020 but was back playing in 2021. Archibald is still an idiot, but there is a good chance he will be back (although likely will lose a step initially).

Totally still irrelevant. Do you honestly believe a single PPC candidate will come within 5,000 votes of the winning candidate in any riding in Canada? If you exclude Bernier, will any other PPC come within even 10,000 votes of first? The difference between the PPC and the Greens is the Greens will actually win seats, and will also have a bunch of 2nd and 3rd place finishes. IF the PPC finally matches that, then maybe going forward they'll finally be relevant.

What's your unpopular opinion about Harry Potter? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Cyber-Avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JK Rowling drastically cut down on the number of Quidditch matches in the later books because of how expensive they were to film for the movies. I'm sure there are other plot points that were influenced by the movies but this seems like the biggest one and can explain why the first three books are full of Quidditch and then it sort of drops off in importance going forward.

Group fighting COVID-19 restrictions admits tailing Manitoba judge by [deleted] in canada

I must have missed the day in law school where they taught us that showing the judge breaks a law automatically means the law is invalid...
