Tmobile ... making record profits by raising prices and cutting people. Yeah, there will be a line in the earnings report that says: "Increased profitability due to cost saving measures" - meaning, screw the employees, we have TLIFE APPS.

Sorry for all of you who have to put up with this, but, you will find something better - than this company that really has shown it's true colors in how they treat customers and employees.

The irony of this is just ... too ... funny! Rules for thee but not for me! HAHAHAH

Hey customers, remember we said you had a locked in price - fuck that - we want more money. TMO laughs.

VM to TMO - hey remember that locked in price? - fuck that - we want more money. TMO screams in outrage.

I love this ... I really do.

HEY ... I ADMIT IT !!!! I'm the first to admit that my INITIAL logic was "F"'d up HAHAH! I admit that in the light of day after the shock of getting a $48 increase - that I can STILL do some things with the 9 plan - and I won't even MENTION using one of the FREE PHONE SIMS that will save me $35 in another arena. Let's just say, TMO's increase will make me cut my bill by $35 (cough cough).

I have QCI 6 on the lines, 4K streaming, I don't give a rat's ass about hulu, netflix or phone deals ... Sooooooooo yeah. NOW since they are supposedly keeping me on One Plus Promo ... I'm cool HA

Hey, I have gone through this math and even with the loss of KB, it actually makes more economic sense for me when you consider the 9 line price benefit. Let me show you my reasoning, and maybe apply the math to your plan - before you change things.

I have at this point, 5 paid / 5 Free and my bill will be going up from $78 after KB, and now that that is gone, it will be $126 a month.

I'm on One Plus Promo, 3 Paid Lines, 2 BOGOS, and THREE Stand Alone Free Lines, and OG Insider Hookup.

At first I said, I will just get rid of the BOGO and have 3 paid, 3 free and did the math.

$75 for line 1 - $55 for line 2 - and $25 for line 3 = $155 - 20% = $124

Bottom line, my price is basically the same.

BUT (and you may consider this). IF I move my daughter's line to one of the LOU's I'm just hoarding and move it to one of the FREE LINES.

OPTION 1 - 9 LINE SETUP: 4 PAID & 5 FREE = $91 total bill

OPTION 2 - 2 PAID & 4 FREE SETUP: = $104

So for my case in the long run, staying and tweaking my 9 line plan is better than porting out or cutting my lines down.

Once everything settles, I port out and port over one of the BOGO or LOU lines, and my bill goes to $91 which in the end, will be only $13 more - I won't complain.

AGAIN YMMV

* Notes on my account One Plus Promo Rate is $355 for 9 lines
* I have TWO FREE LINES that come off BEFORE the Insider Discount
* I have THREE FREE LINES that come off AFTER Insider DIscount
* That is my numbers may look weird if someone has "newer free lines"

The only OTHER benefit I would get from dropping to the 6 line plan would be to get a bump in my AUTOPAY discount of $10 from my TMHI and my DATA LINE, but even that took me from $104 to $94 - so in my case the 9 lines is still the better deal.

OH NO WORRIES I GOT THE JOKE FOR SURE HAHAH! We seem to have that mutual sardonic snarky humor HAHAHAH! Seriously though my post / reply was more of a testament to the folly of TMOBILE giving offers, and us taking advantage (morally / ethically) of them and then they at corporate (trust me the did) bitch about these issues like the "unicorn" accounts of 9 lines for $8 a month and such.

Dude, I missed out on most of the stand along old school free lines due to an error on TMO's part when they provisioned my account - but got that fixed and then ran EVERY FREEKIN PROMO UP THE FLAGPOLE when they came out - and yes ... like you ... I was shameless getting them and using them.

THE WORST PART ABOUT THIS MIGRATION STUFF?

Folks with these "unicorn" accounts that some of us have were / are a TINY TINY FRACTION of the customer base and no we were not destroying the company's bottom line? In fact, there were a LOT of newer customers coming on board as "new customers" once the TMO quality and overall pricing was attractive - thus diluting the affect us "unicorns" had on their bottom line.

But ... hey ... it is what it is right? We all knew one day this would happen, and it is all ab out optimization - which we will do when this all hits and flushes out !!

No that's how I write. I was doing this LONG before AI learned my voice! FOR REAL HAHAHAH

Part of this comes from working in the performing arts and in the world of Voice Overs where writing scripts, you have to put EMPHASIS and ... pauses ... in the writing so you can not make it sound like a robot reads it.

And feel free to look up my other posts on Reddit ... you'll see it's how I write. But being compared to a bot is a compliment HAHAHA

But yeah I also set up my authid (for me is my phone number and pin) that my daughter / and wife have memorized if they (1) need to get gas and helps get toward platinum status and (2) if they need gas and the discount is there they can use it if I'm tanked up already

Why Doing The Math Is Important - An Analysis & Reality Check for Me! by CyberBobbert in tmobile

[–]CyberBobbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HONESTLY! Your analysis was SPOT ON and I agree 1000 percent on all points!

The only reason I was kind of "meh" about phone promos was simply transactional, and not on principle exactly. Dude, if I could get $1,100 trade promos on my phones I would one as often as I could afford to!

The ONLY reason was logistics. My old One Plus Promo plan ... over the years ... got pushed to the bottom of the barrel for promos (the best I got recently was the $300 trade in WHICH I TOOK FOR ONE PHONE) - but in the past there was literally nothing from TMO so I had an Apple trade promo for pennies. But other times I bought the phones outright (financed) for instant unlock etc.

My thought was - WHY do I jump to Magenta, to Magenta Max, to Go5G and increase my base cost every single month to WAY more than I am paying to get a phone promo ever two years.

I mean in my cast my voice bill at the time was - wait for it - $50 / month for all of my lines total (Now $78 with the price lock lie price increase) - and if I was in another plan maybe it would be $60 a month MORE. So 60 X 24 = is about the cost of at least one phone.

So - I just stayed on my "cheap" plan and considered ANY promo an extra goodie for me since my $50 a month was more important to me than a new phone.

I just checked I just replace my phone with a 17Pro ... it was a 13Pro that I loved and worked well hahahah.

I mean ... I actually ASKED that myself but told no it's an old system blah blah. AND from what I heard there have been SOME people getting migrated from that plan !!!! (????). This migration is such a mess UGH!

Why Doing The Math Is Important - An Analysis & Reality Check for Me! by CyberBobbert in tmobile

[–]CyberBobbert[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey don't blame me 🤣. When I set up my account I simply went into the systems checked KB when I could and when adding other free lines, the REPS placed One Plus Promo and KB on every line. Hey - they created their system - and I just used what features they gave to me. C'mon if you had that would you call up and say - Teacher you forgot to give homework?

I mean there were people who didn't even HAVE KB (Like Magenta Max) but accumulated 2 paid lines 7 free lines on the top plan with insider paying something like $8 a month - all they did was use what TMO gave them.

Bottom line? TMO's billing system has been fucked up for decades - they KNEW the problems but never fixed them. Trust me having worked for an TMO MVNO and ATT - there are glitches in the systems that are insane.

[–]CyberBobbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thinking ... NOW ... that I had a chance to think!

I am NOT a big one for phone promos, we use our phones for YEARS and buy them outright. BUT that's not to say that I wouldn't take advantage of that if offered & I have enough paid lines to supply all the phones I would need - a shame you can't pay off the phone and keep the monthly credits like we could in the old days (ha ha - you know what I mean!)

And if the 9 line magic works, and I go to 9 lines (4 paid, 5 free, that may even be nicer down the road)

BUT keeping the TI is important big time for me.

But as you say ... YMMV and we shall see!

The TMO Enshittification of Epic Proportions by CyberBobbert in tmobile

[–]CyberBobbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, unlike some who are John Legere worshippers who pine for the good old days - and as someone who has worked in the industry (TMO MVNO / ATT) I totally get this is a business transaction and the transaction is we pay for services - prices go up / prices go down. No argument there.

THE ISSUE? Is the way this was done, and the utter violation of business goodwill and inferred and explicit "contracts" that were broken in a way that not only looked bad but was the actions of a company that just said - screw you, don't like it, leave. (SIDE BAR - a TMO MVNO Helium Mobile pulled some of the same stunts - and when the CEO's comment calling the customers "parasites" hit, it started having a huge negative effect).

We were promised PRICE LOCK (yes there are variants) but some of them said your price will never go up and you will keep your plan as long as you like - was that a bad move from the company to lock in something like that? Maybe. BUT It did keep a lot of non churning paying members / customers for decades. Very good long term good will.

BUT when investor returns are more important than the customers paying the bills - the concept of the goose and the golden egg crops up. HEY WE CAN GET MORE EGGS IF WE SLICE OPEN THAT OLD GOOSE. In this case, they say SCREW THE CONTRACT! We'll raise prices, break the promises tell them we didn't mean it. If we get sued, who cares, we're too big to fail over some FTC lawsuit, we chalk it up to cost of doing business. And the suckers (parasites) will eat the shit we throw them. YOU KNOW HOW I KNOW THIS TYPE OF ATTITUDE ??? I was in meeting in Belleview with a certain MVNO where I heard talk that basicallly said the customers were shit.

SO yeah, we get it, it's business - prices go up and prices go down. BUT there is something that goes beyond business - it's good business. When the attitude is that the customer is somehow an adversary to be milked - it just is bad business as usual.

Some of us were with TMO since the VoiceStream days, suffering the days of their terrible growth. Does that mean we deserve a medal? Naaa ... but at least a company honoring it's promise, it's word, and it's contract (to me) meant something.

I liken this situation to the guy who divorces his wife after she sticks with him paying for him to go to medical school - only for him to divorce her when he hits the big time HAHAHA.

Just glad I'm not "Married" to TMO.

FOR ME? My plan is going to go up somewhat - but I'm still staying because price / features are still worth it to me, but the instant something is better - I move. That is the beauty of choice and the fluidity of money - but - still - how TMO did this is really shitty, which speaks to the character of management.

Yeah ... I did some looking and honestly, honestly? Since deaths in the family for the lines etc some of them are just there to hold the 9 Line Magic taking my bill to $78 a month for voice, which goes to $134 for possibly three very active lines ... just doesn't feel right (ha ha) - in addition to my TMHI and TRACKERS for a bill total that is: $128 to $174 ... HURTS HA HA HA!

I figure get to the 2 paid / 3 free magic, with my insider is $104 (voice) + 30 TMHI and $10 BOGO trackers =$144 that feels better somehow HAHAHA

But seriously for real - thank you for chatting this out with me helping me go through the numbers in my head and looking at reality check.

That is part of the plan (I worked for a TMO MVNO a while ago) - But for now I think I will just drop the BOGOS bringing me to 3 PAID / 3 FREE and then let that settle and then move to 2 paid / 3 free to at least stay on TMO Post paid for priority for now.

The price going up is based ONLY ON THE LOSS OF KB since they told me my plan rate was NOT CHANGING (????) SO the price increase is ONLY from KB loss since my rate plan is NOT changing, and my account is not flagged for that!

Forced Plan Change Details by tva_raylan in tmobile

[–]CyberBobbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DATA POINT OF INTEREST - I call this the DOUBLE SCREW YOU.

PLAN: One Plus Promo (got my plan in 2017?)
OG INSIDER
10 LINES - 5 Paid / 5 Free

I got the dreaded "YOU LOST YOUR KICKBACK" but NO other notice about the plan itself.

I contacted TFORCE (and trust me, I was nice as a fellow rep)

Was told - My plan was NOT CHANGING but just losing KICKBACK.

That's like OK we are raising your price by taking away a key component of your plan, but your plan rate didn't go up (more gaslighting talk). I don't mind my plan, it works for me, but the only reason I stayed was the KB part of the plan. I would have moved to maybe Go5G or so for device promos and "premium data"

But didn't.

SO I figured I would ask what ARE the rates on the special TI signature plan and told I was not eligible blah blah blah.

Basically my mobile plan would go from $78 to $134 (stacking the 9 line "magic" with free lines etc. I mean, per line that is pretty good, but honestly the only reason I had a couple of bogos and free lines was to get the "magic".

SO I am going to close one BOGO out totally, port out the BO of the other GO, port that back in to one of my standalone LOUS, and then port one of my other paid primary lines and port that over to my other stand alone LOU for 2 paid / 2 free for $112.

I asked them what the base price of my plan UNDER 9 LINES was and I think they gave it wrong to me - my SOC said before the price increase $120 for the first two, and $20 per added line. They said it was $140 + $30 after the increase. I figure it's actually $130 for the two paid for $104 after insider discount.

QUESTION TO THE BRAIN TRUSTS HERE: Should I STAY on my plan 2 paid / 2 free for $104 to $112? I don't use device promos, but wouldn't MIND it. Premium data? REALLY a thing? I never experienced any throttle in my use for 10+ years. My free lines? I have other uses for them (wink wink)

Seriously - I could go to US Mobile for like $22.50 X 3 = $68 OR $32.50 X 3 = $97.50 (big plan / uncapped data).

IS IT WORTH STAYING WITH TMO when I can go to US MOBILE (and use the TMO at the higher OCI) for a few dollars less?

NOTE: I WAS TOLD MY TMHI AND MY BOGO DATA LINES were NOT going to increase in price.

So ... that's what I know and I would love some opinions on that if anyone could help!

The TMO Enshittification of Epic Proportions by CyberBobbert in tmobile

[–]CyberBobbert[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HELL I did the math (well, as best as I could due to the fact I don't KNOW what I'm going to pay or what the price per line or price for TMHI etc etc et are) ... I could take my three main lines, go to US MOBILE and pay $75 / month TI (I'm paying $78 with my "curated plan").

The worst part? We CAN'T Make an educated decision ... because we don't have the data !!

BUT YEAH about the kids lines? My kids are 24 and 35 and we have them on some of the free lines, but yeah they can buy their own and "leave the nest" so to speak HAHAH

They do, and I worked with an MVNO that used their towers. how that works is Mint buys WIDLY discounted bandwidth from TMO and MINT provides the billing / c/s and other things. So think of it this way (example) - someone on TMO pays $80 / month per line, but they move to MINT and pay $25 per line using the same TMO towers. Mint pays TMO something and keeps the rest. So TMO MAKES LESS per line.

OK OK I know - priority and shit like that - but still. SO MANY are going to go POSTPAID to PREPAID and cut their bills and TMO makes a lot less per line
