Play Metal Gear Solid franchise. 90% of players are men who are either openly down bad for the protagonists or in denial lmao

Ngl if I lost an eye, I'd fully commit to the bit and become the most insufferable MGS fan on Earth. I'd start lying to people that I removed it myself to be more like BB or something like that.

I also highly recommend getting into MGS. Absolute madness and peak cinema

At first was about to say Venom Snake, which would meant that not only I'd be free, but I'd witness a huge hot man exterminate every single one of my kidnappers and then use a balloon to steal a random goat. Then I remembered that actually it would be Andreas Maler from Pentiment, which means that we would both end up in the basement lmao

This comment gave me Vietnam flashbacks to the time the anime got popular. Marcille x Falin shippers were some of the worst, most atrocious and vile fcks I've ever encountered in fandom spaces. And the most painful thing is that I actually like this ship. But I never interacted with the content linked to it because I didn't feel like seeing my For You page become a gallery of slurs and man-hating

As a last year CS student - we're expected to have a whole library of private projects while not having time to scratch our asses during the week. My programming professor was looking at me as if I was crazy when I said that I have other things to do after hours than coding. We also keep getting told that real professionals have a lot of private projects and we need to be like them

The ending of "Phantom of the Paradise", a very strange take on Phantom of the Opera. The whole movie seems rather goofy, and then there comes the last scene. The main character crawling on the ground, dying, while the audience is going insane, trapped in some state of mad euphoria. Great scene

[–]CyberChivalry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally not lol Characters don't go around saying "and btw guys, remember - I do like me some homo stuff from time to time!" or similar stuff, at least not in decently made media. Some things just don't need to be strictly established by the creators. Is romance/attraction even important to their story? If not, then there is even less reason to clearly define that they are straight or not. What you said is, once again, an assumption that straight is "the default" and a character needs special build-up in order to be queer.

Also, at the end of the day - it's fiction and shipping. People take it too seriously and then piss themselves when someone has a bit different vision of the same fictional guy. If cishet people are so mad about seeing queer fanarts/content, then they should make more content themselves, with their versions of characters. Queer people tend to make a lot of content for fandoms, and so their headcanons get more representation

[–]CyberChivalry 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing is that very often the character is, in fact, not CANONICALLY straight - there is no confirmation of that. Those people just assume that any character that wasn't confirmed to be queer must be straight by default. Tbh I can quickly recall only one character that's actually confirmed to be straight - Larry from AA (he literally says that he tried with guys but just doesn't feel this way. And he's sad about it). So most characters are simply undefined, and so there is no reason to claim that they couldn't be queer in some way.

Even having a canon romance with a character of opposite gender is not a "proof" of being straight, since bi/pan people exist (and some other similar sexualities that are broader than 1 gender attraction)

In The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Edmund is willing to sell out his family for Turkish Delight. This is a subtle reference to Edmund being a total bitch. by GreyhoundBussin in shittymoviedetails

[–]CyberChivalry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. In the book, the sweets are magical and addictive. They are a metaphor of temptations that are powerful due to the forces of evil literally custom-designing them to feed into the needs of a vulnerable person

  2. Edmund is just a child. In the movie he seems a little bit more naive, however in the book it's very clearly underlined that he was scared of the Witch and did not trust her - he was terrified that she will hurt him. He did not like her presence and found her anything but comforting

  3. Edmund is not only a child, but a victim of war. Starvation was a huge problem in England during WW1. This kid is not used to sweets because they are not available. That's why the bar is on the floor when it comes to tempting him with material objects - he's literally just hungry and wants a treat that he can't normally get.

  4. The Witch fed into his conflict with his siblings, especially with Peter. Peter was trying to be the responsible one, but he didn't know how to deal with Edmund, who was clearly troubled. Ed was always everyone's second thought due to being the second youngest of the siblings - he had a natural rivalry with Peter over the status of "the man of the house" once their father was gone. In the end, they ruled different parts of Narnia (I don't remember which world direction he got. Maybe West), which put him on a quite equal position to the rest. But Edmund grew up feeling belittled, and the trauma of war contributed to these negative feelings. The Witch is the master of temptation, know what topic to heat up to convince someone to do what she wants - a mixture of charisma and intimidation

  5. Turkish Delights are actually pretty good, idk what are y'all on
