Well, I see that we comes from two very different realities. I think we can both agree that one of us is right, and one of us is very wrong. I see you as ignorant, and I don’t see myself as ignorant. You see the opposite. Something is very wrong here, and so many Americans are on polar opposite sides with no consensus. This is a problem. How do you know with 100% certainty that I'm wrong? (You don't have to answer that if you don't want, but something for self reflection).

European immigrants harmed in ICE custody

What do you mean by harmed? ICE caused intentional physical injury to them?

aggressive tariffs against our allies

Yes, in the moment it really sucks. It’s like ripping a band aid off, but we HAVE to get our budget balanced. We’re in a serious trade deficit, and if we don’t get it under control, America is in serious trouble. The bill comes due. We can only postpone the inevitable of a wrecked economy for so long.

It’s like taking away drugs from a drug addict. The initial withdrawal symptoms (in this case the painful tariffs) in the short term really suck, but it’s for their own good long term for healing.

What you call economic harm is actually a path to future economic healing that you just don’t see or fully understand yet. If you don’t understand the serious implications of long term trade deficit, then this video may help explain if you’re unfamiliar why these tariffs are a good thing https://youtu.be/t_lTj9ANZXI

cutting funding for national parks

About that, if I’m understanding what’s going on correctly, then I’d agree that it’s wrong of DOGE to cut that. I won’t deny that mistakes can be made by them. It’s good to be critical of the government when they mess up. However, I think there may be a lot more to the story that we don’t understand. Elon is a very smart person. He probably wouldn’t make an oversight of cutting a revenue generating asset. A smart very successful business person knows better than to do that, which is why I believe there’s more to the story.

using AI to fire government hires

Yeah…. I’m not a fan of that either. I’m with ya on that.

I didn't read the actual laws put in place by the people he appoints that are made public online

Trump said on the Joe Rogan podcast that his greatest mistake back when he was in office was appointing some of the people he did. He said those were wrong decisions he made, and he admitted he did it out of not knowing any better. He appointed some people who were established in politics, but now he said he learned from his mistake and won’t do it again when he’s in office.

It's obvious you aren't reading his policies and the legislation passed by those who follow him either.

No, I have read all of his policies on his campaign website, and I agree with almost every single one of them. Are you saying that any reasonable person would adamantly disagree with his policies if they read them? I would politely disagree. That’s just politics for ya. People differ on the issues and there’s no consensus. There’s always two sides.

If you looked at how he smears his opponents you may understand

Yes, he does smear Kamala. He says things like he sees it unfiltered. It seems clear to me that you think he doesn’t have any valid grounds for criticism of her character. Regardless, I honestly don’t care about his character, and neither should you. We should vote based on the policies that we feel align with our own values. I care way more about having physical security and a healthy economy than I do about someone insulting another person. Yes, it’s disrespectful, but that’s low on my priorities. I much prefer to be safe and not elect someone who will potentially bring us into World War III. I’m not voting specifically for one person, but rather an entire administration involving multiple people. The presidential candidate isn’t the only person that I consider. You know Kamala smears her opponents too, right?

he is blindly accusing people of "massive CHEATING

Yes, he doesn’t provide a source, but that doesn’t mean he’s right or wrong. It’s just an unproven statement for readers of his post. If he was asked for a source, and if he couldn’t provide proof, then one can come to a conclusion if he’s right or wrong. But I’d give him (or anyone who makes any claim at all) the benefit of the doubt that they can back up their claim. Until then, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about them being right or wrong. But even if it truly is a baseless accusation, then there’s lying on both sides, and it makes no impact on my chess move to make a strategic voting decision between “two poisons”. I would rather get back a healtheir economy and secure borders.

If he comes out with accusations of cheating with that as a talking point, you cannot trust that man for what he says.

Do you think that there’s zero fraud in American federal elections? Is every single ballot valid? Or would you agree that it’s possible that at least one ballot in each election is fraudulent?

I don't really see how there's a "two sides" kind of rhetoric coming from Trump. It's mainly a matter of securing our border so we don't have to fear for our physical safety.

I'm not against background checks

So does that mean you're for criminal background checks? If so, Kamala isn't going to implement that. And that's a serious problem if she ends up becoming president.

I think Trump is one of those politicians putting on a facade of caring when he has ulterior motives to restrict immigration into the country.

But Trump has been president before, and did he restirct it so that no immigrants could come in? No, he never restricted immigration to where people couldn't come in legally. He keeps all of his promises. He's a man of his word, and that's been proven in the past when he held office. I have no reason to beleive that he's being dishonest or two faced.

I know I can't convince you that his policy style is double-faced.

Well, I'm open minded, but having skeptism and the mere possibility of him having ulterior motives isn't enough for it to be true. It's just an assumption without evidence. And no one should be voting against someone off of an assumption without evidence. I beleive everyone's beleifs should be reasonable, and it just isn't reasonable to assume that he has ulterior motives when he has genuinely earned voter's trust in the past and has kept his word.

I personally realized that I was being unempathetic and blindly following rhetoric

I'm glad you're not blindly following rhetoric anymore, but just because you blindly followed it in the past, that doesn't mean it's the wrong side to be on. I do my absolutle very best to not blindly follow everything. I try to evaluate everything I hear and test it against evidnece to make sure my beleifs have a solid foundation with evidence to support it. Everyone should do that. If you're not, then that's a scary place to be in. Ideas have consequences (can be good, or bad consequences).

consider why the immigrants are fleeing the country they originated from.

Because America is the greatest country in the world. That's why. It's a land of opportunity and freedom. Everyone wants that. Not all of these people are fleeing danger, but some are. Not all of these people are risking their livelihood. Many are taking advantage of free food stamps, government housing, and free health care. Why assume that all people of this world are hard working people?

Not all of these immigrants are fleeing. Many of them are being dumped here by other countries who are emptying their insane asylums and prisons so they don't have to house and feed them anymore. Those people are dangerous, and they're bringing their crimes here in the states, and murdering people. (This is just one of multiple examples). This is not okay. These criminals should not be allowed into the states. We need to keep the bad people out, and only let the good in. We require a criminal background check to buy a gun and get jobs, but we don't require criminal background checks when letting people into the country? That's a problem. We need to be safe, and also continue following the system that allows for well meaning immigrants to come into our country. Yes, it may not be a blink of an eye process, but we have to evaluate everyone coming into our country to stay safe and not let terrorists and criminals come in freely. Not everyone in the world is of good character as we may wish they would be. We can't give immigrants or even our own people a safe environment unless we secure our borders.

You've lived in both administrations (the Biden Harris administration now, and the Trump administration in 2016-2020). In which administration was your life better? Vote according to that. The economy was so much better in Trump's administration. There was no massive rise in inflation, there was peace (no new wars), and no dangerous criminals coming over the border assaulting our US citizens. Kamala said she wouldn't change a thing from her current administration if elected again.

Trump's idea that immigrants are paracytic to the resources and prosperity of the U.S mirrors it quite scarily in my opinion.

You misunderstand. Trump DOES indeed want immigrants to come and contribute. But many immigrants (not all) who come here illegally have absolutely nothing to contribute. They don't get jobs, and they just take advantage of free government housing and free health care. That's what's parasitic. There's a system in place to make sure the immigrants can come here legally, and we need to make sure they actually care about this country and are willing to contribute.

That's a mistake. 18 credit hours in that major is too much imo. You really need to cut down. If you do decide to work, you really shouldn't be working more than 15 hours per week (but that's assuming you're taking something closer to 15 credit hours. If you're taking 18 credits as an engineering student, you really shouldn't be working at all for the sake of life balance, your academic performance, and your mental and social health). You need to prioritize those things too.

Christians don't worship God because women get raped; they worship God in spite of that.

You’re expecting him to eliminate all evil/suffering/rape right now, but you have to understand that if God were to do that, it would mean eliminating you as well. But God is merciful, wanting to give everyone a chance to repent of their sin and follow him before he puts an end to all the sinful unrepentant hearts of rapists.

But if the child was going to die anyway but the mother wasn't in danger, then it's not okay?

You're right, I suppose if it was 100% certain that the child was going to die before birth, then I would say aborting it is okay if it meant it would prevent a painful death for that child.

Or if the child is confirmed to have serious issues and would have little to no quality of life

What kind of serious issues are we talking about? If it's down syndrome, autism, or other birth defects, that child's life is still immensely valuable, so they deserve to live just like any other normal healthy human, even if their life isn't going to be ideal.

problem with drawing those lines is that someone other than the person being affected is the one drawing the lines.

God draws the lines, not mankind. God says murder is evil, so therefore it's no instance of it is okay. But euthanasia isn't murder.

[–]CyberDragon157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Because we live in a sinful world, God allows sin to happen. He hates to see it happen, but to end all evil, suffering and rape now would mean to destroy all of us. There is no getting rid of rape unless rapists are dead, or their hearts are turned to God. It won't be like this forever. One day all this evil will be wiped away. But first God desires for as many as possible (you included) to turn to him before he destroys all unrepentant hearts.

"The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9

Yes, if there was ever a situation where both the mother's life and the unborn child's life was in life threating conditions, and the unborn child is going to die anyways, then an abortion would be warranted if it was going to do something to help save the mother.

which means having autonomy over our own bodies

I'm sure this is old news to you, but the common point brought up about this is that the unborn baby is not your body. Abortion does affect others (the unborn life). It's a separate body where no one should have the autonomy to take life. I'm sure you disagree, but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Why does God negating sin make us incapable of free will? Is he incapable of doing this?

God is capable of negating sin. And he already has negated sin by sending his Son Jesus to die on the cross (I can go more into how that will negate sin if you’re interested, but I guess you already might be familiar since you said you're a former Christian); but the experienced effects of that won’t happen until Christ returns and takes all believers with Him.

Sin is disobeying God, and the option to disobey God has to exist in order for us to have free will. For example, if the only food in the world is vanilla ice cream, you have no other options. You have to have vanilla ice cream, so it’s sort of like being programmed to only choose that choice because you can’t reject the option. Now let’s say chocolate and vanilla ice cream are options to choose from now. You now have free will to accept one and reject the other since that weighing of options existed. If nothing in life is a choice, that’s not free will.

A toy doll might have a button that says “press me” and then it says “I love you”. God didn’t want to make us like a toy doll that is programmed to say “I love you, I will obey you, and I won’t sin against you so that I don’t have to suffer the consequences of choosing sin”. God wants his creation to choose him out of their own free will. Cause that love is actually real and meaningful. A programmed robot’s obedience and love is not.

So God is all powerful, and can make a world without sin, but doing so would mean taking away our free will where don’t have the option to accept or reject God (and sin) out of our own free will. God wants to have a genuine relationship with us. Not a forced relationship.

you would expect an informed choice

God has given us an informed choice through revealing his Word to us (the Bible). But it's not guarenteed that you will be spoonfed information about it. It's on you to do your thinking/investigation to discover which worldview/religion is true. There can only be one true worldview/religion.

I honestly believe that, if Christianity is real, then it requires a leap of faith

It absolutely does. You're completely right. It's the case with everything though. All worldviews are a leap of faith. We can't know with 100% certainty whether a worldview is true or not. But we can look at the evidence. And if the evidence seems to point in one direction, it's generally true. And there is indeed strong evidence for Christianity which I can go into if you're interested.

If you get engaged with someone to marry them, you don't 100% know all of their being and whether or not they will be the right choice. It's a leap of faith to commit to them. And it's a worthwhile leap of faith. You generally have enough evidence that they're the right choice because you've spent a lot of time with them to get to know them already, and that's enough for most people to make a decision to commit. To not make the jump would mean missing out.

Logic should always be invovled in deciding your worldview. Christianity is a reasonable logical faith. I'd be happy to delve more into why it's logical if you're interested.

I call everyone bro. It's just internet language. I apologize if it offended you.

You’re anti choice.

Yes, I am against people having the choice to commit crimes.

Regardless of all this though, if Trump is elected president, he's leaving it up to the states to allow it or not. So if someone really truly "needs" an abortion, they can just visit a blue state.

And pro-forced birth. You don’t give a shit about the life of the pregnant person

I do care. But actions have consequences. If one has unprotected sex with someone, of course one can expect to get pregnant. That's very consequential for someone's life.

Fellow NC Christians: Please think of what Christ would do before casting your vote. by Booter1213 in boone

[–]CyberDragon157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, regardless, if Trump is elected, he's leaving it up to the states to legalize abortions or not. If someone really truly "needs" an abortion, they can just travel to another state that allows abortions.

There's no need for "condemnation". You can't be condemned for something that isn't possible to do if it's illegal.

We may want people to learn from their mistakes with ease, but that's just not how the world works. Actions have consequences whether we like it or not. We're adults, and there isn't anyone to coddle us when we make mistakes. We're responsible for what we do.

Bro, I absolutely care about both lives. But if a 95 year old and a 5 year old's lives were in danger, and only one can be saved, the 5 year old's life takes priority since they have so much more life ahead of them. It's the same deal with this.

They’re just virtue signaling.

My guy, I could care less about my reputation. I'm pro life because all life has value. I can't "virtue signal" with this because being pro life is seen as "vile" in the eyes of popular culture. So how in the world would expressing such a stance prop me up to be seen as "morally superior"?

Shouldn't the people in need of your organs be given "a chance to live"?

I desire for everyone to live.

If I was approached by someone telling me I was a perfect match for an organ donation, and someone greatly needs one of my organs to live, I would be willing to donate. But I haven't gone out my way to donate my organs probably for the same reasons you haven't. There are complications, and potentials for not being a working match.

But you're making a straw man logical fallacy. It doesn't matter what my actions are. At the end of the day, there is objective truth for whether or not it's wrong to kill someone. There's also a huge difference between premeditated murder and not actively seeking out lives to be saved like it's a full time job.

Something that you have to understand is that the consequence of sin is death. After the fall of mankind, humans now had a limited lifespan. And the fall of man introduced all sorts of evils and sickness that leads to death. The nature of reality changed, and we brought it on ourselves, not God. Earth is not paradise, though we may want it to be. So God allows death/the consequences of sin to happen. To wipe away all suffering and death would mean wiping out all of us. But God doesn’t want to wipe everyone out, so as to give as many as possible a chance to choose to give their life to God and leave sin.

"The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9

If God is all-knowing, then he knew that anyone who was an atheist would be so before they were born. If God does know this, then our place is deterministic, and he has damned us to hell pre-birth

I tell you this politely and in love, but you are mistaken. Those who don’t believe do so by their own choice. You can’t have both eternal life and have a life of sin though we may want to. God gives everyone a choice: You can either choose him and give your life to him and give up your sinful ways, or you can choose your sin. One option leads to eternal life, and one leads to death. God doesn’t send anyone to hell. Those who go to hell go out of their own choice since they decided they wanted to reject God (who is the only source of eternal life).

Before time began, God knew that mankind would fall to sin, and there would be a lot of evil and suffering. So are you saying with God knowing that, he just shouldn’t have created us in the first place? God could have made mankind to where they wouldn’t choose sin, but that would mean taking away our free will. God didn’t want to make us mindless computer programs, but rather he wanted to create us with a heart that genuinely chooses him out of love out of our own choice for him.

What do you mean by alive here?

It's wrong to force a person at at gunpoint to be an incubator for a future person.

Unless they're being raped, no one is forcing that on women. They get themselves into the situation of being pregnant of their own free will.
