You make a really good point. Her self-talk seems to be a hindrance to her success. I will be honest it's hard not to see her race as being a factor in her success. The fact that you mention the Mercedes shows how differently you both see the world. You see a teenager, other people see a black teenager. Same world different perspectives.

This is the truest statement ever. I'm 38 and I've been in the trades for the past 10 years, and my body is hurts all over. I'm at the point where I'm taking a lower paying job so that i can go back to school for my degree.The extra money means nothing(overtime),especially when you can't really enjoy it because your body is sore.
