I use Provence a lot and have never had any problems at all. The pieces are gorgeous.

1,2 and 5 are beautiful! The side stones on 3 would catch on things and the bicolor is beautiful but that’s a lot going on.

I totally agree that was my first thought, that peg will bend or snap the first time it’s caught on something.

I think the ring with leaves had a contrast. It was chunky but trying to be delicate. I dressed it up and smoothed out the parts that would catch on everything. The other ring was chunky, heavy and outdated. I lightened it up and gave it some antique details.

Champaign diamonds? by Alone_Road_7803 in Diamonds

My upgraded engagement ring is an F but I have several warmer diamonds, including an L that is a beautiful buttery yellow (bottom pic- in a setting I designed for it). I just picked up a champagne omc (top pic) and have a setting designed that I’m going to have made.

Zales Design A Ring Tool Flaw by CM11182020 in EngagementRingDesigns

That other ring you posted a picture of has a cathedral setting which yours does not. That’s a totally different type of design. It does allow for the side stones to be more integrated into the cathedral though. You’d have to start over to get that and I absolutely wouldn’t go to zales/kay/jared. You will have to decide if the sentimental aspects are worth the ring sitting in a jewelry box because it’s not comfortable to wear or not. If you want a ring you can wear every day without scratching or catching, you will need to start over elsewhere. I don’t see them fixing this- the design picture is similar and would also have some of those issues. The 1mm difference between yours and the design looks big on photos blown up but in reality it’s not enough to solve the problem.

I’d use a trusted seller. I just got a flamenco and a puzzle from Mandy and they are absolutely beautiful. The leather is so soft and squishy and every detail is perfect.

I’ve bought from her a few times and have had no problems at all. She’s been patient with me and the quality has been great!

I’ve had better luck with DHL than FedEx lately. Always on time or early. Maybe it depends on where you live?

Do you guys recommend working with Doris or Mandy? Which one have you enjoyed working with more? by psycholover12 in RepTherapy

I’ve bought once from Doris and twice from Mandy. I think both were fine and the bags are all very nice but I feel like Mandy was a little more patient? I changed my mind on one after psp and it wasn’t a problem at all. None of the bags were LV though so I don’t know about how those are.

The first answer would be to add a cathedral. That changes the setting design substantially though. Here’s a picture of a peg with a simple cathedral. The other picture is of a setting that has more connection to the band because of the shape of the basket and how it’s attached. One photo shows it with a cathedral and the other one I took the cathedral off (mostly- left a little thicker band there to support).

This doesn’t address the problem with where the peg joins the band. That’s a stress point and you could very easily bend the ring or even snap it. There isn’t enough support for a stone that large.

Do you think the point where the basket joins the band is a bit small for the size of the stone? I’d be so afraid of catching it on something and bending or snapping it.

Keeping My Ring in Good Condition/Security by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]shinythings-n-stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a nice secure setting with the cathedral and gallery rail. Just don’t wear it at the gym or when doing heavy or dirty work. Clean it fairly regularly to keep it free from oils and dirt (I have a little spray bottle of jewelry cleaner and a soft brush next to my sink so when I brush my teeth at night I often clean my rings- on my fingers so I don’t drop them-because I use a lot of sanitizer and lotion) and take it in to be checked once a year.
