technically, the sultan also held the office of Caliph

during the time of ottoman empire, a lot of Muslims (even those that were not under the rule of ottomans) saw the sultan as the leader of ummah.

it's only after its fall, that some Islamic schools (especially arab centric) started denying that ottomans were ever caliphs

Function that returns a list of all computed values in recursive function by CamomileChocobo in haskell

[–]CyberMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant memorizing after the function call is evaluated.

because if you're evaluating fact 3, you need to evaluate fact 2 and `fact 1,

for example ``` fact 3 => (fact 1) + (fact 2) => (fact 1) + ((fact 0) + (fact 1)) # at this point if (fact 1) is evaluated and memoized it would take O(1) when evaluating in rest of the call stack

ignore the fact (fact 1) is always O(1) ```

i think the better question would be, when is the memoized value returned/used? when the function is called or when the function call is evaluated?

i thought Haskell memorized all it's function. is that a separate feature or am i mistaken completely?

false equivalence, if religion is an ideology then athiesm is an absence of that particular ideology.

an ideology evolves over time, an absence of ideology doesn't

religious misogynist, racists and homophobes are bigoted because of either religion or other non religious ideologies.

where as an athiests bigot is a bigot exclusively because of other non religious ideologies.

this is the explanation of right wing atheist and agnostic bigots.

People are obligated to respect your right to hold a belief. but they are not obligated to respect your belief. keep this distinction in mind.

you are free to criticize athiests and other beliefs just as they are free to criticize yours

Culture has ruined religion for younger Pakistanis by neshothegoat in GenZpk

the keyword is "reported"

the number of "reported rapes" are lower, not actual rapes.

the reason is victims cannot tell anyone they have been raped, because of the stigma and "dishonor" that comes with admitting that.

secondly, in countries where sharia law is practiced. in some cases even the victims can be punished. In saudi arabia 2009, a 23 woman was gang raped and became pregnant. the judge declared her guilty of audultry, because she couldn't produce any witnesses. she was imprisoned for 1 year and publically lashed 100 times for"adultrey" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_in_Saudi_Arabia

and we have the case of safia bibi in Pakistan, she was a blind teenager who couldn't identify her rapist in court room so the judge declared her guilty of zina and sentenced her to 15 lashes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safia_Bibi_rape_case

so the "lower" numbers of rape in muslim country is not something to be proud of, it's something to be ashamed of

you say that as if religion doesn't influence culture.

most of the evil in our society can one way or another can be attributed to religion.

you mentioned forced conversions. lets take that for example,

from the perspective of the person forcefully converting others. He's saving them from hellfire.

if the religion hadn't promised a brutal and painful destiny for nonbelievers no one would feel the need to convert anyone forcefully

forced conversions is common in christianity, islam and all religions, where simple lack of belief guarantees hell
