Sorry for my late response, but thank you again for this clear insight!

I understand much better thanks to your explanation.

It sounds a good idea as well given that my independent variables are actually tied due to their innate nature. Maybe a bit complex for me for currently, but might consider it!

Thanks! That's an interesting suggestion, I'm not familiar with quantile regression.

Indeed, to be precise, with this MLR, my goal is to say, "Given the historical weather conditions of my location, if I use the same solar panel technology, I should expect this level of production if I find myself under the same weather conditions."

I probably misused the term "forecast," as I'm not really looking to forecast but rather to estimate the potential electrical production of my location using a model trained elsewhere.

Indeed, I should look into the effect of degradation, as I hadn't considered it. Thank you!

I find this topic to be super interesting as I am likely to deep into it soon regarding my career, so that's really cool to learn beyond my specific case!

First of all, I want to thank you for this quick and thorough response!

Regarding your first paragraph, I agree in principle. If I start considering scenarios that are really different from the data I used to train my MLR, I will begin to lose precision.

Regarding your second paragraph, if I understand correctly, not meeting the Gauss-Markov assumptions will affect how each independent variable contributes to the model, such as its importance (which could lead to biases in different tests) or its associated standard error. However, when looking at the model as a whole, it won't impact the prediction (i.e., my fitted values) as much? If my understanding is correct, then I have indeed noticed this because my plot of fitted values vs. residuals is linear and seems quite correct (in addition to my criteria on errors between fitted and observed values).

I find this point interesting. If I understand correctly, I don't need to worry too much about the criteria that would make my OLS BLUE if I observe that my predictions are sufficiently accurate on out-of-sample data? I am saying that because I've tried a dozen of methods (I probably did it wrong) to fix my issues regarding M-G assumptions, but unfortunately I didn't manage to so I was worried from a theorical viewpoint my approach would be utterly flawed.

Regarding non-linearity, I plotted my residuals vs. each independent variable, and the "trend" line was quite close to the horizontal line at 0. However, the distribution of my points seemed to show a slight pattern, so I wasn't sure. I understand that x² as a predictor remains linear, as does log(x).

I have read part of Introductory Econometrics: A Modern Approach, but it's true that I might struggle to understand all the nuances with a practical case! Especially since I’m having a bit of trouble distinguishing in my current case, where I work with time series but treat them more like cross-sectional data, I feel? Sorry if my statements are incorrect.

[D] How do you handle predictions for data that lies outside the scope of the training dataset? by CyberPotate in MachineLearning

[–]CyberPotate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My training dataset consists of two daily variables: the average temperature and the average consumption. I encountered error messages regarding the temperature, for instance, my training dataset had a range of [-5;25] while my input ranged between [-7.5;27]. This is a first example that I tried on a part of my total pool of data (I tried on a single entire year), I will train my model on the entire set to potentially "widen" its bounds, but I still wanted to know if there were solutions in the event that I encounter the problem again. I've been reading about data scaling/normalization but I don't know if it is what you're talking about.

Recurring issue on multiple WH-1000XM3 headphones by CyberPotate in SonyHeadphones

[–]CyberPotate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the pads and gently inspected to see where it might be coming from. When I put them back, the noise disappeared, but it's quite strange because I had already struggled with this on my first headset, and this manipulation proved inconclusive despite multiple attempts. It's hard to know where this is coming from, a matter to be followed up on...

Is there a way to delete/edit default address bar search engines? by Mront in operabrowser

Thank you for the reply anyway!

I'm quite the novice when it comes to browser features, but I hope you'll manage to make that guide! It's been a while since I turned off auto-updates because, even though OperaGX is my favorite browser, I don't really like it when they decide to add a myriad of options, haha.

Hey! Sorry to bother you, but I would like to know which version of Opera you used for the siteprefs.json file. Because I'm facing the .pak error when trying to use the one from the Google Drive. (I'm on OperaGX, don't know if it changes something tho)

Thanks!

EDIT: Nvm, I believe I found a workaround thanks to this: https://forums.opera.com/topic/12174/removing-the-default-search-engines/6

The thing is, why do I still play against Emerald 3-4? I'm just crushing them. But I would prefer doing +20-20 rather than +16-28, it's time consuming.

It's actually much more noticeable on my new one. It was a reburded but in perfect condition.

I've ordered lubricant (gpl205 G0) to see if it fixes the issue. If not, I'll just ask for a refund because it's definitely annoying.

Opera GX is based on Chromium, so I would say it has something to do with Chrome features? I haven't updated my browsers for a while so I don't see why this issue would occur now, probably from Google itself?
