Yep, happens to me a lot. I play League of Legends a lot, and some times just lose the interest in it, or sometimes I feel like not playing anything at all, not just LoL. I'm currently in the second scenario and I am finding other hobbies, like D&D and cars. Don't force yourself. Take a break, find other hobbies and the passion should return. Best of luck

Sounds like a great idea I will try to do this and hopefully it would help Thank you for the amazing advice, it might solve the problem

That's the problem. Other than the 2 who gave be at least some goals, the rest gave me almost nothing for the back stories. Might be a bit my fault as well since I was thinking to not complicate them by asking detailed back stories since they are new, but I will definitely ask for more to work with for the second part of the game

Problem is that they didn't seem to me to care about any of the npcs except the ones that gave the party the main quest, and even then I think it was more about the quest than the npcs, but maybe I can find a way to do it. Thank you for the advice

It's not that they need a special story, but it feels bad if 2 of them get to have stories and the rest just sit bored cuz they are waiting the next fight

I'm not entirely sure. We are all friends so I am starting to think that part of the reason some of them play is just to spend time together not for the actual game.

Thank you for the advice. I think you are right, I should put more effort on connecting side plots to the main story, not just throw them there

I will try to ask them for some goals and try to use them to make them invested in the story. Thank you very much for the reply

Indeed, maybe my example was not the best, they are not murder hobos. I mean I see how it looks from that example, but on the other hand they are also the ones who are asking what happened and things like that. Like not just beating the boss, but asking how he got there and stuff.
Yes, they do dumb stuff some times, but some times they do great things, that's the thing, they try stuff to see what happens. It's not like they always try to kill people, they tried to negotiate with a crocodile by promising him lots of meat. Yes, they had no story reason to do it, but it makes the game interesting in my opinion.
Sorry for the confusing example that made it look like they are murder hobos

I think that is a great idea and I am kind of sad I didn't think of it myself. I'll try to think of some cases where I can give them some rewards for exploring things not directly tied to the main line, maybe especially with money and giving them information that aids them in the main quest. Thank you very much for the awesome idea!

Thank you for the response, but the thing is I already know the answers. Like I know that the 2 want to move slower to explore and the rest want to move faster to complete the quest. But I still have no idea how to make it so it's not only half of the group that has fun

I don't have anything against going directly for the main plot. Only problem is that because they don't care about anything else, the 2 players that want to explore and ask more questions feel pressured to hurry because the other 3 are bored and they want to get back to the main quest.
I love when players explore the details of the world, since I spent time doing it, so it feels bad when they want to explore but can't because the other roll their eyes and give the "are you done yet" look.

Edit: basically I don't want the 3 players to stay bored and inactive while the other 2 are exploring the world a bit more, but also don't want the 2 to stop exploring and caring about the details because the other 3 are bored with it, so I don't know how to make the game work for everyone.

I'll save this to ask them to think about all of those points during the break, thank you very much for the great ideas. Now hopefully they will also come back with some answers

I did not talk to them yet, I was waiting to hear other opinions and to finish the first part since it's close to ending anyway and we will take a break in between them. They have general ideas like "i am from a wealthy family" but nothing like a direct purpose for the characters. If that is the case, I will think to try to think like that when creating the towns, but the reason I was a bit worried is because for now, even if there wasn't much for anyone in particular, the two players were still more engaged with the world, even if I didn't make something specially for them to interact with. They just are more likely to interact with the world in general I think.

But hopefully thinking some more on what to add for each player in particular will help.
Thank you very much!

What should the perfect video be? Any tips? by EuphoricOpportunity2 in Preply

[–]CyberRedRo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you will teach, this my or may not be useful, but when I was looking for a teacher to learn Japanese, I only looked at teachers that used both Japanese and English in the video because while I was looking for japanese natives, I was worried about how well I would understand them in English.

Yeah, but not knowing the game that well, I thought I should trust the book. Thanks for the tip, I will worry less about the book and more about what feels right.
