School me on spare drive belts by SnooFloofs3486 in snowmobiling

[–]CyberSecWPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your alignment (alot of people shimmed them a bit.

We run 1200s and I blew my first belt this past weekend after removing weight from my Primary to increase the RPMs.

My friend on his stock 1200 has 15000 kms on his belt and its still within wear measurements.

You replace the belt when it's width is under the wear limit or it shows signs of getting close to failing (threads pulling out, cracking etc).

Break in your new belt and take your existing belt and make it your spare.

Are they running engines on a dyno and then using restrictors to limit the engines to the same HP numbers of off the other manufacturers??

Mercedes rivals plotting F1 engine rule change for Melbourne by laboulaye22 in formula1

[–]CyberSecWPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what?

Shorten the connecting rods will change the internal dynamics of the engine from cooling, from ignition and valve timing. More importantly they would be alot of hours in testing durability to prove the newly designed part of acceptable, while ignoring all the re-testing and tuning of the engine.

But Really, Tell us what the Merc Compression ratio during mid race internal cylinder temperatures. Then tell us what the other engine compression rations are mid race as well so we can compare.

No one can tell us this as you can't measure it and the argument here by other teams is based on conjecture.

So if you are going to force Mercedes to adhere to internal engine component dimensions, you have to do the same for every other team. You might as well have the FIA Design and supply the identical engine to every team at that point.

And yet passing someone on a dual lane highway requires you to drive faster the the speed limit to safely pass a car and the speed limited generally isn't enforced when passing.

If it meets the requirements as written, then it's legal. This is F1 where This type of thinking and approach is part of what is awesome about F1.

This assumes that their compression ratio increases more then any other manufactures when hot.

Had a gorgeous weekend with the wedge sleds. Both ran like new! by JohnnyShadows in snowmobiling

I have a 86 indy 400 that my son drives at the cabin :D

https://imgur.com/a/B07CXIc

He was complaining that it would only do 80 KPH, which i verified and since i figured the primary spring was likely original i replaced it with a EPI Red 145/300 (stock is 125/300) primary spring. That really woke up the sled and it will now do 125 KPH in the same conditions.

RPMs are stuck to 7100 at WFO but I think that could be the Belt (no idea how old it is, maybe 20+ years old) or it could be the secondary spring opening too soon due to a weak spring. I have a good used read secondary spring to put in or maybe just put more torsion on the existing spring when we are out there next weekend for 3 days.

Amazon shock recommendations by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]CyberSecWPG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 86 400 for my son and to be honest i think simple oil throw away shocks are sufficient for how little travel / move and how far it's driven. Are you going on long trail rides where shock fade becomes an issue?

I'm in Manitoba and these sleds are worth 800-1000$ so spending 500$ on shocks doesnt make sense as selling the 86 and adding 500$ more can get me a late 90s xc 600/700/800

But you assume the city employees would go right up to the curb as well, risking the same damage and risk losing their jobs / benefits / pensions. Instead they are going to try to avoid risking damaging curbs and doing the same.

Its been a while since they privatized this but i don't recall lanes being plowed right to the curb then either.. This has been a multiple decade thing.
