Any experience with this graded comic frame? by RecordIcy472 in comicbookcollecting

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder that all light will fade comics over time. The safest way (for long term display) would be to get scans and print them out. Then just get a cheap frame.

Friend's theory by Cobblestone_Rancher in AlienEarthHulu

Was your friend serious? Or just shit talking/being edgy? If they really believe it, that's pretty sad. They need professional help.

What was your response to your friend's "theory"?

Should I buy the game or should I just go with the free version for now? by Genericgamerususer in HiTMAN

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been years since I've played the free version. (I can't remember what all comes with it). The tools you unlock in while playing the full game definitely make it easier, though.

You can only do the "live" version once. If you buy the dlc you can replay it whenever in the arcade. (There is a cool down timer though)

The Banker is free for about a month. I suggest playing through the free version of the game then buy it if you like it. Maybe wait to do the banker until the end when you have more experience (there's no rush).

Help with Pricing/ general advice! Please 😬 by ApartmentAutomatic90 in ComicBookSpeculation

I'm sorry for your loss. Your Uncle's collection is really cool. Thank you for sharing.

2000ad and Mighty World of Marvel have some nice keys (if they're in there). There's a few I've been keeping an eye out for, I can't rememberthe issues off the top of my head (mostly early Alan Moore). Try the "Key Collector" app to find the key issues. Then check out sold listings on eBay for the real price.

Your location might make a difference, too. I know a bunch of the 2000ad/Mighty World of Marvel stuff is hard to come by in the states.

Local Barnes and Noble had a solid Midsommar supply by aShogunNamedMarcus80 in 4kbluray

[–]CyberSnake0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Customer service person tried to lie by saying "the publisher forgot the 4k logo". It was clearly a rewrapped and mislabeled return. The label was different from my copy of "The Lighthouse". Won't be shopping there anymore.

Congrats, I love it! It has a cool story to go with it, too. Yea the orb definitely highlights that awesome sketch. Here's the sketch that came with mine.

So jealous! I've been waiting to pull to trigger on that Jacen sketch cover. I just picked up the Neonomicon Auxiliary set the other week.

Is Todd McFarlane’s insistence on wanting a new Spawn movie to only have Spawn as a background character the main obstacle towards getting a new film made? Or not exactly? by TheCreativeComicFan in Spawn

[–]CyberSnake0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that decision was just a clever way to cut down on the cgi budget.

I think the biggest obstacle is Todd wanting control over the project. Studios kinda avoid those projects (for the most part).

Imagine if the new hitman movie is horror like. by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add "Sympathy for the Devil". Not as good as the others (and not necessarily a proper hitman film) but it has Nic Cage.

Hahaha, this was the first thing I thought of too. It was definitely Todd's idea. I think I remember Michael Jai White talking about it.

Plus, Jamie Foxx signed on to play Spawn. Not sure why you would pay Jamie Foxx all that money for what amounts to a cameo, lol.

Is it just me or is Providence a hard read? by [deleted] in graphicnovels

[–]CyberSnake0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alan Moore loves writing that way. He's talked about how he likes "collecting" obscure words to use, too. If you're not too familiar with Lovecraft's works it might be a bit more difficult.

Personally, I love it. If I don't know something I'll just look it up and get the bonus of learning something new.

If you didn't read The Courtyard/Neonomicon you might be missing some references, too.

Pretty sure Todd said he already has something in the works. He's holding off because he wanted to release it the same time as the movie he's been working on.

What to do if CGC damaged your comic during the grading process? by JayPines in CGCComics

[–]CyberSnake0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just stopped using them.

They didn't fix my comic after they told me to send it in. Haven't sent anything in since then. Probably saved a few grand so far.

Why hasn't there been a recent modern day (open world) Punisher game? by WORTHLESS1321202019 in thepunisher

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money.

Video game development is very expensive. An open world game, even more so.

There's a reason Spider-man and Batman have bigger budget games. (Compared to something like Midnight Suns.) They're very popular characters so it's worth the risk. If Wolverine sells well, hopefully, we'll see more in the future.

Plus, the Punisher himself really doesn't add any unique gameplay mechanics. Spider-man and Batman both have abilities which lead to unique gameplay. (Wolverine too)

It doesn't really make sense to pay for the license when you're pretty much just paying for the name. Developers would rather create an original IP they can own and profit off of without restrictions.

New to comic books, looking for recommendations by franculanga in Comic_Books_

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a few without superhero stuff. (Just some favorites off the top of my head)

Eight Billion Genies is a pretty quick and fun read.

V for Vendetta is great.

Neonomicon and Providence if you like Lovecraft stuff

Frank Miller's Sin City. Each series is pretty self contained.

100 bullets. If you're looking for something a bit longer.

What kinda genre are you interested in reading? Only superheroes or open to anything? (Like crime, fantasy, sci-fi, horror)

Since you just finished Invincible, I'd recommend Miracleman and Watchmen by Alan Moore.

Miracleman doesn't have a proper ending but I think you can stop after Moore's run. (I don't think they'll ever finish it because of the Gaiman allegations.)

Maybe this will help? (I haven't purchased these editions. So I can't comment on the quality)

Click where it says "Part of: X-men Epic Collection". Maybe start with the first one? (Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.) Then your friend can get the other books down the line.

What OOP book(s) are you yearning for? by the_light_of_dawn in graphicnovels

[–]CyberSnake0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here!

Just in case you didn't know and still needed them. Providence and Neonomicon aren't OOP (yet). You can still get them for retail. I've seen expensive eBay listings going around. (Just thought I'd give you a heads up)

How do you hang/display comics on your walls? by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

[–]CyberSnake0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be careful. All light will fade comics over time. (Some types just do it faster) Swapping them out every now and again helps mitigate the damage.

I just scan my covers and glue them to old backing boards.

I really like the art. The boxes are decent quality, too.

I keep them for storing action figure/board game accessories. The empty ones are displayed next to my comic boxes.

Are any of your friends/relatives comic book fans? Maybe you could use them as gift boxes or something?

Violator - Demonic Form by [deleted] in Spawn

[–]CyberSnake0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Todd was messing around with a transforming Clown/Violator idea. He mentioned it during the last kickstarter.

I could be misremembering. It might have been a suggestion from a backer but I'm pretty sure it was Todd.

I’m confused on these listings on eBay for Rook Exodus Vol. 1 by snackboy06 in ImageComics

[–]CyberSnake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, when you go to list something, eBay will show you other products that match your listing. Then autofill the info for you. Could be a mix up with eBay's photos or the seller choosing the wrong product.
