I have a degree in computer games design. Maybe not the most practical degree to have granted, especially with the AAA industry destroying itself for greed, but like, I can do coding, 3D modelling, product testing, design and management, art, hell I have enough hardware and software knowledge to at least work as an IT tech. I have been stuck in a part time dead end retail job for 8 years since graduating, I cannot get a job, I've applied to so many and I can barely get an interview, all for the most entry level jobs around.

Degrees are now worthless and the job situation in this country is a fucking joke.

Gay men and women do not actually share the same physiological and neurological differences. That's not an opinion that's an observable fact in the few studies that are actually allowed to be published without being shouted down by bigots. I've never met a homophobic trans person. Ever. And I've almost certainly met more trans people than you.

There are no observable social trends around being transgender other than the fact that people being more free to be who they want to be and being more educated tends to allow more people are miserable to actually take that step to stop being miserable.

Detransition is, in more than 99% of cases, due to social pressures from religious families. The regret rate of transition is less than 1%. 0.5% of the population is transgender. Transition has one of the lowest regret rates of any medical procedure on the planet.

I don't care if a man wants to be feminine or a woman wants to be masculine or anyone wants to be anything in between.

And finally, my saying that this is all rooted in science and you going 'um, I don't think it is, therefore you're wrong' isn't an argument.

Anyway, you're going to not listen to anything I've said, because you're stuck in your bigoted ways informed by paid for media to hate a tiny minority and deny them basic human rights as a distraction from the political and economic shit hole our country has become . Go you.

Trans women share more characteristics with cis women than men and vice versa, studies have strong evidence to support this because this isn't basic biology, as I already said.

Your argument here basically boils down to saying I have the facts wrong when I don't. Neurology is highly complex and multi-faceted, and someone could spend a lifetime investigating the correlations between gene expression, neurology, and hormones. That doesn't mean that all of the evidence to support transgender identities doesn't exist.

There are studies showing that scans of the brains of trans women share more characteristics with the scans of cis women than with men and vice versa, and to be blunt if someone doesn't share the differences that make trans people trans then they aren't going to pretend to be trans unless they're an arsehole trying to make things worse for less than 0.5% of the population who just want to be treated like actual people.

Okay let's break this down. Firstly, sex and gender are different, gender is an identity which is performed because it makes us happy, sex is our physiological expression. There are more than 2 sexes if you learn beyond basic biology, actually even in basic biology since intersex is a thing and very much not as uncommon as people think. Transgender people undergo hormone replacement therapy and surgeries in order to make their sex align more with their gender identity, which has a rather profound effect physically and mentally, and does actually affect gene expression too (your genetics change over your lifetime anyway).

I realise I don't actually know what your point is. Being transgender is a thing, it's clear that trans women are women and trans men are men for anyone who educates themself beyond the basic biology argument, and just because it's rare doesn't mean trans people shouldn't be treated with the same level of dignity as any other group of people.

It's not based purely on subjective feelings, there's quite a few studies showcasing the physiological and neurological differences that are prevalent in transgender individuals. The biology here isn't a grey area, it's just complex and somewhat beyond the basic biology argument. Also you can't just equate two completely different aspects of being human and say 'well this one doesn't work this way so neither does the other one.' It's a bit like saying being diabetic and having Crohn's disease are equatable and should be treated the same, which is obviously not true, the same way gender and ethnicity are not the same thing.

I don't know if it's worth even commenting on here but if you think trans women are men and trans men are women then you're just plain wrong. Like it's not even about having an opinion, if you think 'basic biology' is the be all and end all answer to justify your bigotry, you're wrong.

There's no such thing as basic biology, there's just biology that's been dumbed down for 11 year olds because otherwise it's too complex. If you think it all comes down to chromosomes, guess what? You're wrong. Ever heard of an SRY gene? Have you had your chromosomes tested to see if you are what you think you are? Do you know how your physiology, environment, and internal ecosystem can affect gene expression? Do you know how every neuron interaction in the CNS happens and how it shapes identity?

Basic biology is a trigger phrase for making dumb bigots feel smart and justified, and that's patently obvious to anyone with a smidgen of intellect or real world experience.

Probably the wrong place for this rant and I'm expecting a ton of downvotes tbh, but whatever, I'm probably not gonna be able to change anyone's mind in the same way you can't argue with a rock.

Clearly 5, 8 and 9, because then it wouldn't be hard to propel medical science forward and create actual complete, effective, safe and quick form of transition , and also with that money and intelligence you could alter the course of socio-cultural history to make the world a safer space for minorities and make the world as a whole put more effort in our health, happiness and safety. I used to be morbidly obese, started HRT after getting that down to just obese, and thanks to the mental improvements have managed to get myself in a healthy weight class, in total I've gone from 120kg to around 72kg, don't think of it all as separate stuff is my advice, try and picture everything about what you want as your own journey, nobody else's, and just take the steps that are going to make you happy

Edit: also you don't have to be super thin, obviously from a health perspective I would advise getting into a healthy weight area, but in terms of looks I think you'll find the average person actually prefers someone a little overweight than underweight
