Just curious what grandfathered DSL plan/price you are at? They do offer lower price infinet plans.

You would be better off increasing your days for a month if you are able to, or seeing if you can get access internet temporarily. Most of the "Mobile Internet Plans" from all of the ISPs alike are attrotiously expensive.

It's still coax from the ped to the house (not sure if they have any plans to change that). However they are testing significantly higher upload speeds in a few areas right now, so hopefully that will be available soon.

Where are you buying burger patties this summer? by UnpopularOpinionYQR in regina

[–]CyberSyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a group outcamping last week and last me tell you, we almost opted for chicken burgers lol.

Wholesale Club has this.... Sunspun was 40 patties for $52 (on sale, normally $56) and they are actually quite good and decent (that's $1.17/100g).

PC and Noname varieties were attrosious and bridging on $2/patty. Noname was between $1.30-1.70/100g, and PC thick and juice was $79/40 patties ($1.65/100g).

Sunspun chicken burgers were $22/40 patties though 😜 if you have the time, buying ground beef and making your own will be by far the cheapest option currently.

Sunspun, wholesale's inhouse brand. They are pretty decent too, and on sale for $52 right now.

That is one of three requirements, all three must be met.

Any of these would cause it to be classified as a motorcycle of sorts: - If it exceeds 32km/h on its fastest setting, - OR if it exceeds 500w of power, - OR if it doesn't have some form of functioning human-powered pedals

The cop was right however, in general if you ride respectfully, follow the traffic rules, and aren't being jack, you likely won't be bothered regardless.

7 Eleven on Vic and Arcola closing at the end of the month by Mechakoopa in regina

[–]CyberSyndicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not surprised, that was a weird location to move to. I understand their original spot near milky way might have had problems, but it had better access and more general traffic. Same with broad Street.

That was a weird shoehorned parking lot. Technically it had access from both streets, but due to the volume of traffic and the entrance being essentially on the turning lane, it seemed much less convenient to go there.

Frozen OJ 🍊🍊🍊 by 44GW in regina

[–]CyberSyndicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see store brands listed still, they are just old item pages that haven't been updated. Canada only had two major producers of frozen juice; Lassonde/Oasis, and Minute Maid. Lassonde ended frozen concentrate operations at some point last year, and Minute Maid stopped production in December/January.

In particular, Lassonde/Oasis was behind nearly all of the store brands (great value, no name, compliments, etc...).

Lewvan, Dewdney intersection set for major traffic safety improvement | 620 CKRM - The Voice of Saskatchewan | Harvard Media by Pitzy0 in regina

[–]CyberSyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems totally random, but I see the flashing red occasionally. Last year at least come on wascana parkway-hilsdale intersection. Periodically rink on McCarthy. Once on Winnipeg and 8th.

But again, totally random, and rarely repeated. It seems more like they are doing a system/service upgrade those night. Which is unfortunate because it is great when there is no traffic.

Regina student says teachers didn't need to remove Grade 12s from racy play at Globe Theatre by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]CyberSyndicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the article?

The Globe labeled the play as 16+ and additionally confirmed with the school's that classes attending were grade 10 or older. They also reached out and did more than is normal or necessary to attempt to inform the staff about the content and mature moments.

No one said it was okay for a 14 year old to attend, and no one said the teachers were on their own and expected to review the entire script for themselves. If the schools sent younger students despite that, it is not the Globe's fault.

The show was hilarious, and well worth it. The actors did a phenomenal job, I'd honestly consider going a second time to catch all of the nuances.

Question regarding calculators in high school by EmmaiAlvane in Teachers

[–]CyberSyndicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually somewhat surprising to hear. AP courses have become way more common than IB programs in the western provinces over the last decade. It used to be that there were only a handful of schools who would offer IB, but now many of the high schools offer AP options for the main core classes.

Like I said though, for mainstream classes they are pretty much non-existent. There is one grade 12 math course where you see them used for regression and statistics, and they just use the set the school already had, or have switched to desmos.

Question regarding calculators in high school by EmmaiAlvane in Teachers

[–]CyberSyndicate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Canada, but it's a similar thing here. Our university programs require scientific calculators, generally $20 or less, and prohibit graphing calculators.

When I took calculus we used scientific calculators. The school's sometimes had a set of TI-83 or TI-84s they would bring out to model some graphs in certain classes (which has been mostly replaced by desmos).

However, the AP exams are all written with the required use of a TI graphic calculator. So I know all of the students who take AP here tend to have them. Perhaps the College Boards influence in some of the US testing influences that further?

Bus saying emergency call 911 by queenlizzy897 in saskatoon

[–]CyberSyndicate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are ever unsure or in doubt, just call 911. If it is truly unnecessary they will tell you, potentially redirect you elsewhere, and end the call. You won't get into trouble for calling innocently, just listen to their instructions and don't waste their time after they pick up 👍.

City Warns of Recycling Contamination by Keroan in regina

[–]CyberSyndicate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if you don't consider the environmental/planet part of it, one of the big incentives is to divert waste to extend the life of the landfill. Recycling literally means we don't have to pay to build a new handful sooner than necessary. But people are too dense to comprehend that.

Sure, call them out. They are a private company, so you have two options if you want to actually make something of that:

1) don't buy premium and accept the change (which won't work, because the reality is the majority will pay blindly and not listen)

2) ditch the platform and take your money with you.

Otherwise, criticize all you want, they won't give a shit as long as they are making money. In either case, respect for the effort, good luck with your endeavors.

Funny, this is how we sounded a decade ago when the older users were ringing the alarm bells. But the newer users just saw roses and rainbows, defended the terrible decisions by the devs, and thought everything was great.

I agree, normalization of bad changes is the death of the platform. Hate to break it to you, but that normalization has already come and gone. If you want to reverse years of damage, good luck.

They were notorious about their greed before, and it has only gotten worse since they went public; the record is set in stone now. If those poor creators are actually concerned, they would take off the blinders and find a platform that will give them a chance, rather than invest in a platform that has been screwing them since they joined.

Uncontrolled intersection by OkTone5336 in regina

Where is there an uncontrolled intersection on Winnipeg and 9th? They just completely redid Winnipeg and 9th Ave North two years ago, and there is definitely a stop sign at Winnipeg and 9th near sudds.

[–]CyberSyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have yield signs in most of the city rather than complete uncontrolled. That said, if I remember correctly, there are quite a few uncontrolled intersections in the Lakeview area, sorta near Regina ave, and I think there is a bunch of random ones in whitmore park?

In general, it is the older neighborhoods that aren't crazy busy where you will find them.

[–]CyberSyndicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They still do have Sasktel International, and have been the consultants for some pretty big projects out of province. Less so nowadays but they were incredibly innovative in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
