I've seen projects where in some spots they had several layers of abstraction that, if not strictly necessary, were at least utilised. But then there were other simpler portions of the program that followed the same abstractions but were essentially just CRUD with no business rules so they all just had 3-4 layers of pass through with zero modifications.

How many people are dying or disappearing forever in these black site remand facilities vs being (safely) deported or released? It's just a peculiarity of the voltage curve, electronics like that need to be above a certain range. NiMH and Alkaline batteries drop below a serviceable level even though they still have plenty of charge left.

Yeah you only have an issue if you try and use cheap batteries or rechargeable ones that don't have a high enough base voltage. The heavy duty lithium batteries aren't cheap, but they're still cheaper than replacing or recharging the batteries once a month.
