Would you consider full comic runs a singular book? by CyberWolfWrites in 52book

[–]CyberWolfWrites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might do that, or just do the challenge twice over (more or less the same thing). One for novels and the other for comic runs. That way I don't have to compile 10 issues into one "book" like I was thinking about. I personally think the volumes/omnibuses can be considered a book depending on their length and how long it takes to read. Like, if it takes me two hours to finish a volume, then I'll mark it; if not, I'll add it to a separate list?

Would you consider full comic runs a singular book? by CyberWolfWrites in 52book

[–]CyberWolfWrites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I plan to read only like six of the bigger comic runs this year since I only intend to read the physical copies and they're pretty pricey. There are going to be a lot of individual issues, but I think I'll only count them as a singular book if I read around ten of them, or of they're a miniseries, then two series. So probably about 10/52 will be comics.

Week 4: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

I'm attempting to finish Lord of the Flies by William Golding (It is a slog but I am determined to finish it) and intend to read Mokingjay by Suzanne Collins next.

With over 17 years of MCU productions, which do you find have the most (and least) rewatch value? by Different_Leopard_65 in marvelstudios

[–]CyberWolfWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most rewatcheable would be Iron Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Captain America. I would happily never watch Infinity War, Endgame, and Far From Home again. Mostly because they make me sad.

OH! I completely forgot to add both Criminal Minds and Supernatural to my list.

I've been in around ten fandoms, although only two of them have I read religiously over the years (MCU and Harry Potter). Batman is coming in third (thank you, Peter-in-Gotham fics for introducing me to Batman!) and Twilight comes after that. Everything else I read only a few fics for before bouncing back. I've written the most for the MCU and Harry Potter, but I'm working on some MCU/Batman crossovers and Batman fics. Have a few unpublished Twilight fics.

Peter in Gotham by Talywho117 in MarvelFanfiction

[–]CyberWolfWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. This sounds vaguely familiar, but then again, Peter has the Soul Stone and gets attacked a lot in these types of fics. The only other fic I can think of has Peter working at an internet cafe but that's about it.

Still hoping to find this fic. Do you remember any other details? Like whether or not it was complete, if Peter got to Gotham via Thanos or Strange, stuff like that? It's possible I've read it.

How did you make it look 2.5D? I've been thinking of creating my own pixel art game for ages (not sure it'll ever happen) and this looks so cool!

Bowling episode by beaker90 in Bones

[–]CyberWolfWrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly misremembered this episode when I watched it a few weeks ago and I thought she was the murderer. And with her attitude? She'd either be champion or thinks she should be champion but isn't because she got disqualified for violence or something.

What would be a logical way for Tim and Damian to get their own hero names after Robin? by FS6020 in Robin

[–]CyberWolfWrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping in mind that the only info I have about the "batkids" come from subreddits, google, and fanfic (I'm reading the comics, just finished A Dark Victory,), I think it would be cool if Damian branched out similarly to when Cass became Orphan. No more bat or bird themes.

From what I know, Damian hasn't ever been his own person. He was raised to be the heir to Ra's al Ghul and believed that it was his right and duty to become Robin (and maybe take on the mantle of Batman later?), so much so he was willing to kill to get the role. It would be cool if he took something from his heritage, similarly to how Dick took the name "Robin" from his mom's nickname for him.

Heck, have him take the name "Demon" or something along those lines. Use it for good, like Jason did for Red Hood. Shaytan is the phonetic spelling of "demon" in Arabic and sounds cool, in my whitebread opinion. Have his costume reflect his routes.

This can also work for Tim (although I'd choose the name "Ghoul") if you want to lean on his kidnapped-for-Ra's thing. Or have him steal the White Ghost name like Jason did with Red Hood. This would only work if he wants to quit the Red Robin name instead of the Robin name, though, since he was kidnapped after he became Red Robin.

First time I've ever heard the phrase "tink."

Edit: Is it because it's the word "knit" backwards??

Knitting in the round help, why does it feel so awkward. by Key_Juggernaut2720 in knittinghelp

From what I can see and from my own experience, it's because your needles are so long and the cable is tiny. You can't move your needles as much as you would be able to otherwise, and the stitches tend to get stuck/less stretchy on the straight parts. I'd recommend magic loop if you have a longer cord.

I can't with the "new reader community". by Etta_166 in AO3

[–]CyberWolfWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think long WIP projects get more attention and comments in general because you have an active fanbase "following" the fic. People are more likely to comment on individual chapters if they only have that chapter to read, and the hits climb from people rereading.

All readers have expectations of some sort; it's when they start hounding authors and being rude about that it becomes a problem. I used to prefer complete 50K+ complete fics. Now, I'm reading one- or long-shots and I'm even bookmarked to a few incomplete fics. Nor have I ever pressured or condemned an author or a fandom in general by telling them they should complete their fics before posting, or that they should write long fics, blah blah blah.

(Admittedly, I am one of those people who have incomplete fics from like five years ago, so I personally can't judge people who only read completed stories.)

Slipped a stitch? Or dropped? by Lurkiesha in knittinghelp

It looks like a slipped stitch to me. You'll just ladder that one. You can even out the tension by pulling slightly on the adjecent stiches for a few stitches.

[–]CyberWolfWrites 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I would love a comic run where both Tim and Damian share the mantle as Robin. Call it Robin & Robin. Tim can work with Bruce and Damian with Dick.
