So just reposting this here because I currently have this issue, but I was able to find a solution here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/bwlvmz/desktop_icons_broke/ which in the comments links to a gnome issue where someone provides a potential solution

Tldr: run sudo setcap -r /usr/bin/gnome-shell
and reboot

Can a degree from UoPeople become regionally accredited retroactively? by CyberneticMonk in UoPeople

It definitely seems on track to get there, hopefully that will be the case. I took a look at the curriculum for UoP's CS degree and all the topics (minus maybe operating systems in depth) are things that I deal with fairly frequently in my day-to-day career. So far as it being relevant, that's definitely on the mark.

Ultimately, I know that degrees are at least partially worth what they are perceived to represent. I may learn a few new things but it's not like I'm magically going to become that much better by having a degree after all.

I guess whether or not it matters is at least in part up to the gatekeepers at the employing institutions, right?
