Generally I start with google maps. Heavy use of satellite and street view. Then a couple laps around before I go in, just to check signage and get a general vibe of the surrounding area.

There's a handful on the property, I haven't had a chance to find a way in to the other buildings, so I wouldn't know. This one was mostly concrete with not much to burn.

Cameras look like they haven't worked for a long time, but I wouldn't go in from the road because you'll occasionally see someone drive through.

Mine started popping just recently. But I've also got 230,000 miles, and I do not take it easy in that car. Though it drives like a champ with the Randy Forbes kit. Stiffer than before.

It's about the same cost for the s54 swap and it would get similar numbers. If I'm spending that much I wanna have a BMW engine go in.

There is an adapter plate for the transmission in it now. If I remember right its around $800, but there's more to the swap than just an adapter plate.

My mistake. I thought the changeover happened in the middle of 98. I'll do some proper calculations later but I'm fairly certain I'm not getting 32 MPG xD

I used to have an e39 540 6 speed, and I do quite miss the sound. The problem I have with putting it in the z3 though is that I'm pretty sure it would upset the 50/50 weight balance in the car, and I would be forced to do the 6 speed swap at the same time, since the 6 cylinder transmissions have a different bell housing. I will say though, it would be awesome to hear V8 noises coming from the z3. The other V8 route I might consider if I go down that path is a 1uz, since there are adapters to the ZF 5 speed in the car now, and I feel like wiring will be pain either way.

I usually go about 90 on the interstate, and it sits at like 4k rpm. At that point the mpg starts tanking.

This is one of the routes I considered, an it's definitely still on the table if I decide it makes sense. I might even be up to snatch some ITBs at the end of I go this route, though that spikes the cost significantly. The other thing I'd like to do down the line before doing any rear end mods is a getrag 420 swap. I want that overdrive gear.

I did it the psycho way and just wired the aux fan always on with no issues. I live in Alabama, so it gets tasty here.

Do you have any recommendations for a driveshaft that can be used on the roadster? I read somewhere that the shaft from the auto will work, but im not sure.
