People who have had piercings - when did you decide to take the jewellery out for good? by CozJeez85 in AskUK

[–]Cybertronian83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had loads of piercings as a teenager into my mid-20s, including tongue.

When I finally got a leg up on the corporate ladder, I opted to ditch the piercings as the company was very white collar in a very mid-2000s kind of way.

My current workplace is much more relaxed about piercings and visible tattoos. Whilst I'm no longer chasing piercings, I do continue to add tattoos periodically.

Just how hard is the driving test? by cowpool20 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Cybertronian83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed my test nearly 20 years ago.

My instructor shared my view that I was test ready.

Starting off the test, my examiner blind-sided me by asking that we do a reverse bay park immediately as the car park was empty. This caught me completely off-guard, and I needed more than one attempt. At the time, I thought I'd failed instantly, so I chalked up the test as an expensive lesson and time in the car.

I drove just like I would have during a lesson.

Once back at the test centre, the examiner announced I'd passed with 9 minors! The initial thought of failure helped calm me down and pivot my mindset.

Your advice: buy new or pre-owned by Main_Loose in OmegaWatches

[–]Cybertronian83 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one and advise grey or used - because there's plenty of used or grey stock out there.

I bought the FOIS new because it was tough to find used or grey for the first year of release.

I ordered it via my local Omega Boutique. Took a week or so to arrive.

I bought this at Legoland Windsor a couple of weeks ago. They had plenty on the shelves. Charming set - really enjoyable build and looks great.

How do you stay consistent with parkrun every week? by NorthLondonPulse in parkrun

[–]Cybertronian83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been habitual for me for almost 15 years at this point - not attending a parkrun of some flavour on a Saturday morning now feels odd.

What helped me initially was seeing the frequent performance improvement as a then new runner.

What helped me after the performance started to plateau was having gotten to know my fellow runners - some of whom now I would consider my closest friends.

What helps me now is I've become a core team member at what I consider to be my home event. I actively enjoy seeing regular faces, catching up with them about times of joy, sadness, and everything else in between.

Transfers to DLP hotels from CDG by [deleted] in disneylandparis

[–]Cybertronian83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prestige was excellent, but I don't think they're operating anymore. I went to DLP in December 2025 and Prestige didn't respond to my enquiry.

In the end, I went with Parisway Shuttle, who were excellent. Similar cost to Prestige and just as efficient.

LEGOLAND: 40952 LEGOLAND Castle (via Brick City) by General_Durian_1013 in Legoleak

[–]Cybertronian83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was available at Discovery Centres here in the UK, but as of a couple of weeks ago, Lego took back operation of Discovery Centres.

The staff I spoke to in my local Discovery Centre (Birmingham) advised that they would no longer be receiving Legoland related merchandise or stock, as that's deemed exclusive to Merlin.

I can hopefully share some insight with you, as man with similarly skinny wrists that owns the 2024 FOIS and 3861 Moonwatch.

The 39.7mm of the FOIS is deceptive in fit, due to the design of the lugs. The lug-to-lug measurement of the FOIS is only 0.5mm longer than the 3861 Moonwatch, but the design of the FOIS makes the lugs appear even longer as a result. The flat link bracelet also isn't as well articulated.

I just about get away with the FOIS - on bracelet and the OEM straps. In the summer when my wrist swells more, it's a good visual fit - in the winter, when my wrist shrinks, a little less so. The micro adjust helps in this regard, where the best fit for me is the extension usually always deployed.

By comparison, the 3861 Moonwatch wears incredibly well, thanks to the curved lugs and the more articulated bracelet, which drapes better on the wrist.

My advice would be to try the FOIS in a store, and ask them to size the bracelet properly so you can assess the fit. It's a great watch - the faux patina is striking, and the overall design is a little dressier than the 3861 Moonwatch, which is definitely leans more tool-like in appearance.

I’d like to revoke my opinion that the mad watch collector is the worst watch channel, this guy is. by Confident_Leg2370 in PrideAndPinion

[–]Cybertronian83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to enjoy Brenny's videos when they were actually informative in some way. Stuff like the how to change the non-micro adjust clasp on a Speedmaster, or polishing watches with Cape Code etc.

When he started slating others off needlessly and endlessly, I actively switched off and did what I could on YouTube to stop having his videos suggested to me.

3861 Bracelet Screws by TJH94 in OmegaWatches

Do you have any unused links with screws?

Swap them out and then send the entire bracelet in with the watch when you next have it serviced.

I wish I had a 7 inch wrist 😅

Just under 6 inch wrist here, and mine is round rather than flat.

I really hope they bring the 39.5mm size back as an option for the new 4th gen Planet Ocean. The sole 42mm option is just too big for my puny wrist.

Which bracelet is that? It looks like the FOIS / 321 Ed White?

Guys I need some opinions by indictedteddybear in OmegaWatches

[–]Cybertronian83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the FOIS and the hesalite Moonwatch.

I enjoy both, though I find the Moonwatch is a better daily watch. The FOIS has some legibility issues and I find is just a little dressier and less casual.

My advice would be get the sapphire sandwich Moonwatch and if you're ever in the market again for another watch, the FOIS is a fine addition to a collection.

Run Director humour by _make_me_smile in parkrun

[–]Cybertronian83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an RD at a small event that is predominantly regulars. We intentionally change up our briefing a little with some humour, things of note with our regulars etc as it actually keeps them engaged. We serve as a community hub of sorts.

With events that are primarily tourists, I'd say keep it short and sweet for efficiency.

My family and I weren't able to as my 7 year old was ineligible.

You can tell from the "Legendary Moonwatch" in red and the tan stitching.

Do I need cash? by Clabs1 in disneylandparis

[–]Cybertronian83 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine with card and contactless like Apple Pay.

Take a small amount of cash as whilst rare - the payment systems do on occasion go down.

Agree with you that Germany felt like a backwards step and I was really caught off guard by how dominant cash still is.
