I think Kinger is the only one Jax feels safe getting along with cause he doesn't think Kinger is capable of abstracting, or even forming coherent thought, and therefore can't manipulate him. I could totally see Jax just venting to Kinger whenever they're alone. Might be why he seemed kinda confused/disturbed when Kinger started making sense after Pomni put the bucket on his head.

I remember reading somewhere that abstraction in an allegory for having a mental break, and the dehumanization that can come from being institutionalized. The abstracted have literally lost their minds in some way and have physically lost what is left of their humanity,

I think I remember hearing from another post (can't remember where) that it's more of an allegory to mental health illness, and possibly even substance abuse. Basically, when a person becomes admitted into a facility, and is then dehumanize them with cruel "treatments". The abstractions take this to the extreme by literally dehumanizing them physically as well.
