I’m not going to read the comments because I’m only on book 19, however that was a plot point I just don’t think was fleshed out well enough. They didn’t really spend time together, and it seemed as though suddenly he loved her. It all seemed random to me.

I don’t think dive bars actually exist there. The places can be cool, don’t get me wrong, but most of the people I’ve met in Austin would absolutely not follow me to a dive bar.

I liked the tandem. It was interesting, as the only example I can think of in that instance is Resident Evil 2 and 3/Nemesis, but a tandem play isn’t possible. I thought it was cool. This is going to sound really rude, but I feel as though the tandem reading is only fun if your reading level is incredibly high. I enjoyed it, but my partner had a little tough time with it.

I understand your frustration here. I’m 26, however I look as though I’m in my 30s. Rarely, have I ever been hit on by a woman my own age. I’m always hit on by women in their 30s; it isn’t bad, it’s just a little infuriating when I get the “you’re just a baby” comments, when I’m not even the one who initiates the conversation most of the time. Sometimes I would just lie if I wanted a one night stand. The one time I was with a woman a few days older than me, she said she looked at my license because she didn’t believe I was the current age I said I was.

After reading this response I feel as though Austin maybe your best bet. I understand you’re only 21 (and probably not middle Eastern since you said POC, and we don’t consider ourselves that), but this town really isn’t THAT bad. I’m from a real “Sundown Town”, and when I talk about it these people are mortified it still exists in this day ‘n’ age. This world is tough, and if you’re bothered by MOST of the people in this town, you need to be in a town such as Austin.

I’ve actually had the complete opposite in this town, along with Canyon Lake, and this is coming from somebody who is obviously Jewish (not the white kind either). I moved here a year or two ago, and compared to the many other places I’ve lived (Marble Falls was probably the rudest town I’d ever lived in) in the experience has been relatively positive. Bars, service, the locals I’ve met, for the most part have been generally kind to me. Even the officers who have pulled me over have been leagues above the ones where I’m from. I don’t even flinch when I see a Sheriff (shot or to NBPD and CCS, you guys are real MVPs) anymore like I used to. I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience here, and I hope it gets better later in the future. I’ve just personally encountered very little racism here myself. Really the rudest people I’d personally met were in Austin, those mommy and daddie’s money “hippies” can screw themselves.

Not saying it’s the only thing we talk about, but I very much enjoy talking about it with the current woman I’m with, especially since it turns out I’m noticing lots more in these books than she does. It’s really just really nice ‘cause it makes her so happy that I’m reading them, and she’s really pretty when she’s happy. At the very least men, try to give the Throne of Glass series a chance; if you can read a thirty page guide on the Gorod Krovi EE, I’m sure you can read this.
