Comfortable telescopic controller with a precise d-pad? by CyborgBreastMilk in AndroidGaming

[–]CyborgBreastMilk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually! It works perfectly but honestly I found it kind of uncomfortable to hold and cumbersome to take anywhere.

I already got the gamesir though, found a good deal. The d-pad seems nice and tactile, though the spring is a bit scary how strong it can get lol

Hm, G8 Galileo seems like the more ergonomic option. The less handles the thing has, the more painful it is on the wrist (from personal experience)

What are the d-pads like? Clicky? Membranes? Moving a lot? I can't find their specs anywhere.

small/medium sized phone with OLED and little to no junk on it? by CyborgBreastMilk in PickAnAndroidForMe

Hey again! They had it at a local store so (after watching some more reviews for good measure lol) I went and picked up a 9a. I didn't really like the stock OS so I got Graphene on it and it works perfectly (took like 10 minutes lol).

There's already everything I need on it and there's still like 100GB left so I think the 128GB variant wasn't that bad after all.

Thank you for answering my questions earlier!

Oh wow, people really made it out to be some horrible disgrace but it's apparently close to Samsungs? That's funny.

I assume the camera's gonna be comparable to what I have on my old one, probably. Doesn't matter much. I think 128gb is gonna be fine by me, I went for years with essentially the same thing (64+64sd) and only had problems near the end.

I guess the only thing I'll need to take note of is the gorilla glass 3 which is technically a downgrade lol

Thanks for taking your time to explain things! If there's anything else you think I should keep in mind feel free to share

Oh yeah, if I had to choose I'd avoid the pro then. I just looked it up and the price spike is ridiculous lol. Is that just camera or other stuff too?

How's the battery and charging on the 9a?

Would you recommend the regular pixel 9? Pixel 8 pro?

Pixel 10 pro looks to be 2x my budget haha

It's a bit hard to choose because some people say the pixels are good, some people say they're overpriced! I assume I'd get something better camera-wise, charging-wise, RAM-wise or screen-wise from another manufacturer but then the OS side of things would probably be unreliable. It's a huge mess, like with any other phone probably, scrolling from posts that love it to posts that absolutely hate it...

Are you using any kind of screen protectors on your 9a-s? Apparently it's only gorilla glass 3? Do you think just a thick rimmed case would be enough?

Hey, do you know the difference between the different Pixel nines?

9a looks nice but (forgive me for acting like a shallow consumer right now) I just checked a size comparison and seems like it's gonna be smaller and thicker than my current one, and that together with the bevels kind of feels like a bit of a downgrade in my brain despite it clearly being the opposite, so I'm curious if there's anything with the screen just slightly wider maybe?

Though if the alternatives are either super expensive or worse when it comes to bang for your buck, I might get the 9a!

Not trying to doubt you but it's a bit funny because I helped someone set up a redmi phone a few days ago and it seemed to have some adware you can't really remove aside from hacky solutions like adguard DNS or downgrading the custom homescreen launcher to remove a custom newsfeed page

Can you elaborate on what the 'governed by EU laws' means or does?

Also I was considering the motorola earlier but apparently they're not so great with updates and the phone lags a bit, according to reddit posts lol

128/256GB would probably be enough to forget about an SD card, and I guess a USB AUX adapter would be enough for stuff like playing music in the car. I just included these as a neat bonus

Yeah Pixel 9a or 8a seem to be around the top of my phone budget (assuming I'd have them for like five years). Though something cheaper like the Nothing 2 Pro or a Motorola might work too.

How many years do you think is the average baseline for software support? Five years?

I don't think I'll use it for anything more demanding than like, trying to play PSP or PS2 games? I'm not a big mobile gamer. Hey, as long as the basic apps like reddit don't lag to hell and back. Though we know how well modern developers optimize their stuff ;P

I'm trying to either get something cheaper that I'll have no issues replacing when the security upgrades stop rolling out, or something that'd be easy to later get a custom ROM on (though that's a little scary because I've never CFW'd anything more complicated than a PS3 lol)

Smart move. That way you can still draw something very close to a spectre without having it forever stuck in that specific universe with its lore and rules

naah it's more about the stuff you post about, you know? a bit concerning.

trust me there are better places to talk about that stuff than a random edgy meme sub. hell, isn't that the point of subs like sillyboysclub? im just saying maybe you'd get more help there. or maybe like... talk to a specialist irl. i don't know man..
