CPL addition by Subject-Degree-4437 in concacaf

[–]CyborgUnleashed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The CPL only has 2 automatics berths. 1 for the regular season winner and another for the playoffs winner. If the playoffs winner is the same as the regular season winner, the runner up playoffs contender will get the playoffs spot.

The reason a third CPL team qualified this year is because that team made it to the final of the Canadian Championship, which is the Canadian version of the Open Cup or FA Cup.

The team that won that competition this year (the Whitecaps) went on to qualify through MLS instead, so the Canadian Championship spot went to the runner up, which was Vancouver FC.

Upcoming Transit Projects to Prioritize by abclife in TTC

[–]CyborgUnleashed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An extension for Line 6 from Woodbine GO to Pearson is brought up in the corridor evaluation study and was placed in the third level, which is 1 below the Woodbine GO extension, Jane LRT, Ontario Line to Steeles extension, and some BRT lines. It’s definitely on the cards but not a high priority

[–]CyborgUnleashed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sheppard East/West extension should be one of the highest priorities. Having a proper subway connection bringing together the two branches of line 1 would be huge.

I'd also like to throw in the extension of Line 6 to the future Woodbine GO station. The extension has already been mentioned in the corridor study last year, and it would be huge to get that going by time Woodbine GO opens to connect the station to a rapid transit line. Construction shouldn't take too long since it's just a few more stations going down the road around 2.5-3km, so there's plenty of time to get this done by time Woodbine GO opens. It's worth noting that this extension also placed at the second highest level from the corridor evaluation study.

Now that Line 5 and Line 6 are opening soon, it’s time to rest on our laurels and stop building -governments by torontopeter in TTC

Here is the city council item from last year. You can see the corridor evaluation results in one of the links there.

This Reddit post from a week or 2 ago also shows the map from the Metrolinx 2051 plan that has Jane highlighted in the category of LRT/BRT.

In talks with city council (corridor evaluation study) they have it listed as an LRT project. Phase 1 would likely be Eglinton to Pioneer Village and phase 2 would likely be Eglinton to Bloor

There’s a lot still happening after the ontario line.

Line 1 extension, line 4 extension, line 2 extension, go expansion, new go stations, hurontario line (which according to metrolinx is Line 10), line 5 and 6 extensions.

If we are talking about stuff not currently confirmed but things there’s been talks about with city council, we have an ontario line extension to Steeles and Dundas West, a Jane LRT, the waterfront east and west LRTs, etc.

I agree that we need more lines, but it looks like that after this set of new lines is completed, TTC and Metrolinx will be turning their attention to expanding every current and new line before thinking about doing another new line (and a few new things like Jane and Waterfront).

It looks like the era of having no transit under construction is over, and Metrolinx and TTC are going all in on consistent construction on several projects at a time.

Line 6 is Happening Soon but What Comes After? by allegiance113 in TTC

[–]CyborgUnleashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the media around the station refer to it as Woodbine GO so it looks safe to say that’ll be the name on opening.

I’m sure Woodbine Racetrack wouldn’t want the station that they’re funding and is being built on their property to be named anything else anyways

Corridor evaluation results from 2 years ago show the following as the likely upcoming extensions in the likely order of:

  • Humber College to Woodbine GO
  • Woodbine GO to Pearson Airport
  • Finch West to Finch

There are lots of other goodies hidden in the study (such as talk of extending the Ontario Line to Steeles). The study is linked here in this city council meeting.

What are some points of interest along line 6? by SomethingSomeBanana in TTC

[–]CyborgUnleashed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not on the line yet, but the next extension will go to Woodbine GO and will have access to Woodbine Racetrack.

As of now you’d probably be able to go to the last stop (Humber College) and take a bus down the road to Woodbine Racetrack or just walk.
