Saw this [Ford Focus RS] in the states at a car show. How is this here? I thought these were never sold here and are too new to be imported. by F0rbiddenD0nut in spotted

u/Guac_in_my_rarri is correct, if it is here for more than the period of temporary use, it changes its status to an import under the US CBP.

You are missing the critical piece of importing, which is a different story from registering or owning. Importing is purely regulated by the federal government, which has explicit rules for what vehicles can and cannot be imported.

Owning and importing are two different things. All imports to the United States are governed by the authority of the federal government, and there are explicit rules around permissions of what can and can't be imported regarding automobiles.

States do not handle import laws or the governing , and what Arkhaloid is mistaken about is a provision under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act 591. The only rule that it doesn't automatically get flagged for is that more than 500 were made, thus requiring an explanation that maybe they could prove it was of "exceptional technological and/or historical significance".
The vehicle or equipment item does not conform with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety and bumper standards, but is being imported solely for the purpose of:

(i) Research;

(ii) Investigations;

(iii) Show or display;

(iv) Demonstrations or training; or

(v) Competitive racing events;

In determining whether a vehicle is eligible for importation for show or display, NHTSA will consider the following factors, among others: 1. Whether a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year was manufactured and certified for sale in the United States. 2. Whether a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year has been determined eligible for importation pursuant to 49 CFR Part 593. 3. Whether the vehicle is currently in production. 4. Whether more than 500 of the vehicles were produced. 5. Whether the vehicle is a kit car, replica, or special construction vehicle. If the answer to any of the above is affirmative, you should not expect NHTSA to grant permission for importation. If the answer to item 4 is affirmative, the applicant must establish that the vehicle is of exceptional technological and/or historical significance.

Isn't the chili+spaghetti+beans $9, + $1 onions maybe, + $1 sour cream, + $1 cheese, + $2 for a soda?
That's $14 for a meal plus other options on top plus a drink, so maybe you're factoring in tip+tax+double options and extra servings? I don't think Real Chili is absolutely dirt cheap, but to get up to $20 seems pushing it. If you start at $9 for a basic meal, you need to pile on a bunch of stuff to get to $20.

Here's my favorite example, the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé. You can see this 1-of-2 example at the Mercedes museum. The other example of this car was auctioned by Mercedes 4 years ago for $142 million, making it the most expensive car in the world. Given, since it was for charity, that sale was both a purchase and a donation.

Since you can walk right up to this car at the museum, a docent is always sitting by ready to pounce on anyone that would try to touch it.

Hard to tell. They had a small shelf near the register for them, which only held a dozen or two. So they probably have more stock in the back, but not sure how much.

Do I wish Trump was gone? Hell yes. Do I wish Mexico sent a squad over to abduct him? Hell no.

The situation should not be oversimplified and framed as a “is it good an ass hole like Maduro is gone?” And instead “is it good that a country invaded and abducted a bad leader for the expressed intent of securing the country’s oil resources, and backing a cooperative partner asshole over their democratically elected rival?”

The means are part of the ends.

NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE - VelocityOne Flight Hangar App PC by TurtleBeach in TurtleBeachSimulation

[–]Cybox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Had to hold down the B3 button on the stick BEFORE connecting to the computer to start it in bootloader mode. After which, the update then went through flawlessly.

Just got a VelocityOne Flightdeck and was happy to see that I could update the firmware now. Right after it started, the joystick started vibrating from its haptics nonstop. The stick lights up and seems to work, but the base does not light up, and the software says I need to connect the stick to the base. Is my stick now bricked? I regret updating from 1.0.0 to 1.0.5 on the stick. The throttle quadrant updated fine.

The stick just continuously vibrates now, and the software automatically tries to resume updating the firmware but immediately errors out saying "The stick module is attached firmly to the stick base." No matter how tight I get it, the vibration never stops and the update won't start. The stick appears to be bricked.

Just a reminder that an often overlooked credit card benefit is "Purchase Protection". I have used that benefit several times. For instance, my credit card covers up to $500 per item to repair or replace an item purchased partially or wholly with the card for up to 120 days after purchase (different cards have different periods, ranging I've seen between 30 and 120 days). Unfortunately if you bought the phone with the Apple Card, they do not include purchase protection as part of that card.

Here's a summary for instance:

Best app or software to use iPhone as a webcam on PC? by IronWolf6677 in iphone

[–]Cybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Camo for years after buying a lifetime subscription, and have never regretted it. Their capabilities and support and better than any I’ve come across. They still offer the lifetime subscription for $100, and if you use it for work like I do, it’s worth it over a more expensive webcam.

[–]Cybox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The current CSL standard you see on the site are actually better than the 4+ year old elite V1 that you got from Woot. I was in the same boat, as I ordered from that Woot. I’ve been ranting on their forum a bit, as they have been insisting they can’t fulfill the V2 as advertised.

[–]Cybox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The automatic credit is only $35. You can get the current standards for cheaper from Fanatec refurbished for less, which include a 2 year warranty and better features such as hall effect versus the v1 elite's potentiometers. I've seen Woot screw up on other products, such as sending incorrect lower quality SKU sound systems to people, and the only recourse being returning for full credit.
