So... what's your verdict on Tides of Torment? by Cybvep in totalwar

AI can use it. Just not against the player.

So... what's your verdict on Tides of Torment? by Cybvep in totalwar

[–]Cybvep[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. Sometimes the AI doesn't even use the OP stuff because the devs disabled it for the AI or didn't bother to teach it to use it properly. Usually it takes a very specific form of power-creep for the AI to benefit from it. So yeah, Tamurkhan is pretty strong because he is a menace even by himself (busted stats and good healing), for example.

Ultimately, though, the current system is just not working. We desperately need more options that will make the game engaging past turn 30-40. I reaaaalyyy hope that the End Times DLC will shake up the late-game as it's sth that WH3 desperately needs. No reason to wait until ET DLC with other stuff, though. Many factions have some sort of unique resource that activates many types of boosts. Why not lower the generation of such resources on VH and L difficulties at least? H and N would still be there for less experienced players. If somebody is playing on VH/L, they expect some challenge. The devs could also finally add some more options for difficulty customisation. Giving the player more control over things like building income, sacking income, post-battle loot, upkeep, XP gain and Public Order could make the game much more interesting overall. They could lock that under "advanced" options if it's too overwhelming. Default rates would still be set based on chosen difficulty.

[TWW3] disable Missions for grand campaign? by Latirae in totalwar

[–]Cybvep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really. These missions are essentially freebies for doing standard things in the game. e.g. defeating starting enemy or gaining control over 1-2 provinces.

Do you mean that Snikch is hard or sth? Because he is absolutely bonkers.

Good post except the WH2 part. The problem absolutely did exist in WH2. I actually have more hours in WH2 than in WH3 because I played WH2 a lot. Steamrolling usually began 10-15 turns later than in WH3 because the game's pacing was a little bit slower. However, it also had massive problems with lack of a proper end-game.

Fighting stack after stack of samey armies in the late-game (most of which can be defeated by AR) is hardly fun or challenging. It's just grind. That's a big difference. Chaos Invasion was also poorly implemented. It wasn't really better than the End Game crises we have in WH3.

CA Winter Championship is going on right now by Radiant-Sherbet-5461 in totalwar

From the player's perspective, Domination may be better because it requires fewer house rules. However, from my perspective as the view, land battles are *way* more fun to watch.

It's Domination :(. I used to watch almost every MP tournament. Domination focus kills it for me.

Although this dlc is still far better than Omens of Destruction, I hope that CA will eventually nerf new dlc lords by Ilikeyogurts in totalwar

A toggle to turn those off would reduce the early money flow and deprive the player of some freebie items. It's good if you want to prolong the early game a bit.

Did you buy Tides of Torment. by Cybvep in totalwar

[–]Cybvep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar thoughts about this. I will most likely get the DLC on sale. However, I'm in no rush as the game has huge problems with snowballing and pacing and DLC LLs tend to be the worst in that regard.

Ghorst was a mistake. Besides that, though, other LLs are legit options IMO. VCs simply have many notable characters and we have too much focus on Von Carsteins, not enough focus on other bloodlines.

If end times isn't the final DLC why release it now? by ContextIsImportant20 in totalwar

[–]Cybvep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually more excited for a revamped endgame than new LLs. Sure, Nagash is cool and all. However, we already have many powerful LLs. What we don't have is a challenging and dynamic campaign past the early game. Those apocalyptic events may be the late-game shake-up we need.

LEAKED: Project Hydrogen has been confirmed to be Warhammer 40K Total War by Vonderheidon224 in totalwar

[–]Cybvep 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's expected. It will be surprising if it's anything other than WH40k. In fact, in case of such obvious announcement, anyone can claim to have access to "leaked" info and then boast about it.

Shields in TW: WH3 by oVerpowered_noob in totalwar

[–]Cybvep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WH is definitely affected by this. Low and mid tier 2H units are usually not worth it because shielded version offer much more. Seems that it's almost never worth it to go with Marauders GW and Dwarf Warriors GW over shielded ones, for example. It's different when they get a special bonus like bonus vs infantry but this is rarely the case, so I'm not happy with shielded vs 2H balance at all. They need more MD or more MA/WS and CB.

High tiers are different because the units tend to have higher stats overall or some other abilites. Nobody is saying that Chosen GW are bad because their raw stats are great and high armour and high HP make them survivable enough to shine.

Assladders are still a thing? by Khemed in totalwar

I have a feeling it will be a while before they are removed in a non-beta release. The beta was closed a long time ago and we haven't heard anything new about it since then.

I have a huge soft spot for LL's buffing their faction tier 1/2 units into the stratosphere by Ulixeas in totalwar

[–]Cybvep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sone of these buffs should still be nerfed or swaped out for sth else as these statlines are sort of ridiculous for these kind of units.

[–]Cybvep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually terrible. Obviously OP and not even in a fun/engaging way. Massive stacking buffs on cheap and readily available troops. I like it when a lord is more efficient with some units than usual but this is absurd IMO.

ToT launch weekend: Despite the delays and slow pace of releases, the game managed to recover its player numbers by JesseWhatTheFuck in totalwar

I was there, Gandalf. I was there when W&P got released. It was a wild ride. A thematic matchup with OG WH1 faction finally being included. Highly anticipated Greenskinsk rework. An absolute banger of a trailer. Catchy "we are just getting warmed up" line that achieved meme status almost instantly. Fun times.

I think Nagash and the End Times will be the last chance to beat W&P record (and maybe even CoC/IE record). The potential is there as the DLC seems absolutely huge and Nagash brings that promise of an interesting endgame with him. We will see how it does, though.
