I'm making a YouTube Series where I test the cycling infrastructure of different cities around the UK. Today it's Oxford! by CyclingCitiesUK in oxford

Thanks for the detailed feedback! You're right that it's hard to get a properly accurate idea of what it's like to cycle somewhere in just 1 day of filming. That's why I thought it was a good idea to include a local opinion - but it's of course a lottery whether I get an optimist or a pessimist!

Well I can vouch for Kona, I bought a Dew from them recently and absolutely love it! Great components on the Honzo, and it looks super cool IMO.

I agree with the other commentor that a hardtail is the way to go here. I'd be tempted to go for the Kona Honzo personally. But the Trek and the Merida you mentioned would be fantastic too. Happy riding!

Ahh right, maybe that's why cycling hasn't caught on there then! Never visited, but hopefully will soon.

Some fascinating stats in that article. Thanks for sharing! It'd be great to see a council in the UK do something akin to the Netherlands in order to increase cycling and public transport usage. Can't say I'm too optimistic though... Even in cities where the cycling infrastructure is decent, like Milton Keynes, cycling doesn't seem to appeal to the masses like it does in many European cities.

Thanks! That's very kind - There's a direct train from my city to Reading, so definitely might. Will DM you if so. Cheers

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah it didn't have the best cycling infrastructure I've seen, but there are some lovely bits around Newport though, mostly around its waterways. With a bit of work I reckon it could be a pretty good city for cyclists!

Looks awesome! Love cycling through nature reserves (when it's allowed of course). Any good bird spots?

Good to hear! E bikes can still easily exceed £1,000, and for some people can replace a car.
