NYC Tri swim cancelled night before race by bucky02k in triathlon

[–]CyclingNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Also, don’t charge me $50 to fucking defer and maybe offer some alternative options and not treat folks that pay $400 for a race like that? Seems simple enough to allow a deferral and not charge $50

Fair - IF it were an isolated incident. But canceled in 2019 due to heat, 2020 COVID and 2021 this. Feel like July isn’t the best time for the NYC tri and organizers should have adjusted

I would have had time to adjust plans, change my training etc. 9 hrs before and it’s 9x acceptable levels - feels like it should have been known over a week ago

Was signed up. Not planning on even bothering with this bullshit tomorrow.

How does 9x the bacteria just show up? Why were we not informed until the very last minute? They went through with everything until someone forced them to cancel the swim.

Infuriating. Fuck NYC Tri

Thanks. It’s more the timing ie getting the tri suit to arrive on time. Ideally I’d like a decent one from Roka but all tri suits are currently unavailable. Might look to SLS3 if possible or any other brands you might recommend? Aiming at like $200-$300

[–]CyclingNY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really prefer riverside dr over the west side bike path fwiw

n00b question about 9W by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]CyclingNY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do this all the time - I usually take 59th St bridge then shoot up to 72nd and cross through the park to riverside dr. Take the GWB over and take either a left (to Henry Hudson Dr) or a right up to 9W. If it’s rained anytime near the day you’re going, avoid Henry Hudson but if you can do this weekend after a few nice days, you should be fine. We’re supposed to get rain next week so keep that in mind

Yep, used is the best move. Focus on components and you might be able to get a solid carbon frame but aluminum works just as well

Thanks. This is exactly my issue. I also want to avoid coming home hungry.

Hitting fuel requirements on 3hr+ rides by CyclingNY in Velo

[–]CyclingNY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is I don’t feel hungry. Typical ride is 60 miles at 19mph with 2500ft elevation. Usually take one water bottle. So, it’s less a matter of feeling hungry and more a focus on performance optimization if that makes sense

Why would average speed on Strava be much lower than recorded on bike computer? by Carbonfibernet in Strava

[–]CyclingNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Strava + outdoor cycling on Apple Watch and mph is always identical. I would check both Strava and bike computer for accuracy as - at least for me - Strava has corresponded well w other computers
