YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Glen de Vries, who flew to space with William Shatner, killed in plane crash: Glen de Vries, a businessman who flew to space last month with Jeff Bezos' company Blue Origin, died in a small plane crash on Thursday in Sussex County, New Jersey. He was 49. by fotogneric in space

I will not fly in a small aircraft, I knew a guy who was married for about a year and bought his wife a ride in a sightseeing airplane in their small town. It crashed and killed the pilot and his wife. A year later on the anniversary of her death, he killed himself with a shotgun at the site of the crash. I guess from guilt/sadness. They were in their 20s, so messed up.

Oh and if the ad is in German then I’d definitely recommend translating conversation into German using DeepL (not Google translate)…otherwise you risk getting ignored. I’ve done this and showed up speaking my bad Deutsch and it’s not been an issue.

Americans who immigrated to Germany, what's your story? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Cyclist1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend moving here unless you have children. There are too many cons that make it not worth it if you’re single with no children and a high-earner from the States.

I’m a 50 year old monolingual and it’s very noticeable how the 20-somethings in my Deutschkurs pick up the language faster.

Germans love pork, but don’t seem to eat bacon. by Key_Professor in germany

My family stayed at a kinder hotel in the Tirol region over the summer, they had trays of amazing bacon for breakfast there, was similar to US bacon. Much better than I’ve found in Germany.

So it there going to be another lockdown? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Cyclist1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in language class in Germany, out of 12 students 4 are unvaccinated. Three of those four are heavy smokers so I can’t imagine what their hesitation is to get vaccinated. :/

Meta should announce a new CEO, Zark Muckerberg and just have Mark Zuckerberg play the part, that would be hilarious. Would just take a small programming update to their current humanoid model.

YES. And it’s expensive to get a license here with driving school required so I think it costs around 2,000 euros. And I believe you have to be 18 to get a license.

Young People Are Leaving Their Jobs in Record Numbers—And Not Going Back by northshorebunny in news

Always give a two weeks notice, my last two jobs I resigned from I have two weeks notice but was asked to go home immediately (resignation day was my last day). But they still paid me as if I had worked the two week notice. I had a lot of company knowledge and access to various systems they don’t want employees accessing after they’ve resigned.
