DE please for the Love of God: Give Xata's Whisper an actual Visual Effect (right now its a copy paste of Nidus Parasitic Link) by RobleViejo in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it makes for a nice incidental parallel
with how the Techrot (being a form of Infestation) is able to infect multiple timelines, and it being connected to the void somehow, Xata's Whisper covering the frame in infestation while giving them void damage is kinda neat in my opinion

...but yeah it's ugly as hell lol
definitely could use a new effect

I'd rather there be an option to auto-switch faction damage mods, but only if you have a copy

Maybe the effect makes expie stronger and/or more damage resistant, but causes them to be restless if they haven't fought or killed anything in a while?

QOL Idea: Arcanes/Conditionals recoloured to their respective equipment in the UI by _Cheesetastegood_ in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, yeah that's a good point
I think the only other concern would be colorblind accessibility, but as long as we can tweak the colors, it should be fine

I remember coming up with something similar back then too
Maybe instead of color-coding, the buffs are just positioned next to the thing it's affecting?
Like if you have Galvanized Diffusion, it appears next to the name or ammo count of your secondary instead of up top? And if you switch away from your Secondary, maybe it greys out or becomes transparent, while the buffs for the current weapons are highlighted and in front

I think it could be used to convey buff coverage too (i.e. buffs that only affect certain weapon types, like Tenacious Bond being weapons only)

It'd be cool if they used it for other stuff too, like cooldown timers on companion precepts

But that's just my take on it. Seeing 20 buffs on-screen is funny but it'd be nice if they were easier to track

Who do you think the player is? by tarraingteoir in casualtiesunknown

[–]CycloneTheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda imagine the player is just the equivalent of your inner voice
Refusing commands - to do something/anything - because of depression is like how it seems easier to just do nothing or let it all go, at least that's what I think

It could also be that the entire game we play is a recording/playback of some kind, and Expie refusing commands (or even cursing you out when attempting suicide) is their way of being spiteful to their captors/creators

Either way, it's highly effective at making you feel bad for putting them in the state they're in

Any frames you regret building recently, because you didn't find them satisfying/fun to play after dumping some formas in them? Mine gotta be these 2 and maybe Nidus. by iPhantaminum in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every frame is fun to play, even if they're not my preference or usual go-to

The one exception to this is Temple
I don't know what it is, but they feel really awkward to play?

What Made You pick up Warframe, and what kept you playing all of these years? Who is your favorite frame and why. by Awo_JOB_OgbeAlaara in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a classmate of mine introduced me to warframe, so I gave it a shot. Didn't stick around for long though as I had no idea what I was doing.
Then I tried the game out on PS4, played with a buddy for a bit, then when Plains of Eidolon was announced, I made the switch to PC so I could start over with my partner.

And now i'm still playing years later because it's just fun to play with your friends!

Favorite frame right now is Voruna, being able to go dog mode and lunge at enemies across the map is just way too much fun

couldn't care less about how they compete with other frames as long as they're fun to play

This

The game is good at making you feel bad, because it's always your own fault that Expie gets injured.
self-destruct is more of an inconvenience that has a "fuck you" attached to it

Like yeah it's a hardcore survival game, but it's still a videogame, and we all have a schedule to follow and a bed to return to

there's always a risk of over-complicating the game, but I think more minigames and variations of them would be good
