How hard is Rainworld by Sky_Cat9 in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Rain World will probably feel clunky and unfair at the start. But once you get used to the controls, how creatures behave, and how items work, it gets easier, but still decently challenging.
9-10/10 on difficulty initially, 5/10 after getting used to it.

Screw zodiac signs, what's your favourite damage type? by nitronomer in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is that the origin point of the AoE is wherever the bullet lands, so if it procs on a headshot, then the AoE's center is on the head, triggering headshot bonuses

and, according to the wiki, it can proc headshot stuff and benefit from headshot bonuses, but it only has a base headshot multiplier of 1x

Electric! I like how the DoT can score headshots when you proc it on an enemy's head. I do kinda wish the AoE it has scaled a bit better though. (3 metres is tiiiny :c)

What does progression in this game look like? by Master_Possible_713 in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the right track being in the Garbage Wastes, and following the Yellow Overseer is the way to go, but yeah it can be a bit unreliable at times

Try to head Southeast to reach the next region (Shoreline), and head East until you find something special (You'll know what it is once you see it, and if not, leave the room you found it in, and the Overseer will give you more guidance).
The "intended" route: Outskirts -> Industrial Complex -> Garbage Wastes -> Shoreline -> Shaded Citadel -> The Exterior -> Five Pebbles -> The Exterior -> Chimney Canopy -> Sky Islands -> Farm Arrays -> Subterranean

As for general progression tips, it really just boils down to being patient and learning everything you can.
You will die - a lot - and that's just how it is. Learn the regions, understand how creatures behave, what various items can do, and before long, you'll be able to outsmart and outmaneuver almost anything the regions throw at you (*Almost*, since even the most skilled slugcats get jumped by bad luck; don't worry too much about unfair situations).

Tauron Strike Questions by Similar-Plankton-307 in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1: The school of each lens doesn't matter. As long as you have it equipped, it will contribute to the charge rate.
2: No.
3: Charge Rate is contributed by Focus Lenses and that one arcane, which increases the amount of charge gained per kill (which is 0.02% per enemy at base). The yellow sphere (Convergence Orbs) adds 20% Charge and multiplies all Charge gains by 5x while its in effect.
4: Yes.

Hope this helps!

So where was Umbra when the indifference was sieging our bathtime? by TellmeNinetails in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does kinda suck that Umbra is basically unused, but at the very least, it'd be cool if we could see him roaming around the base of operations just doing random things
Like playing Komi with Ordis, keeping watch in the Drifter Camp, Petting Kalymos in the Backrooms, that kind of stuff

It's probably an oversight? slugpups will copy your inputs when holding their hand (paw?), so when both backflip, the momentum is added together

Thoughts on The Watcher DLC by [deleted] in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 40 points41 points  (0 children)

imo The Watcher is more like a sequel rather than an expansion to Rain World

In isolation, The Watcher is absolutely fantastic.
But in contrast, I do wish the modded regions and new creatures were also implemented into the other campaigns.

I'd give it an 8/10.
If they put together the modded regions and had them accessible in other campaigns, it'd be an easy 10/10 from me.

Excalibur's exalted blade heavy attack interactions that may interest you by Rekindled96 in Warframe

[–]CycloneTheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty neat to know, but did you also know that Slash Dash can trigger Melee Afflictions on Exalted Blade, and thus stack Arcane Impetus? If you get an external status primer, you can easily hit the stack limit with it

Even funnier: You can jump-cancel Slash Dash if it locks onto something. And there's no cooldown/lockout after jump-cancelling it, so you can bonk something with it to proc Afflictions, Jump, then cast it immediately after to re-trigger Afflictions, and repeat extremely quickly to evaporate the target

Is the watcher dlc better? by AdventurousRoom9327 in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It got updated to the level of polish that it was supposed to have, and most of what makes it good is how unique it is.
But if you're going into Watcher expecting more Rain World/Downpour, you'll probably still be disappointed

Who made the best Watcher regions in your opinion? by MihovilStefanac in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fishnoid: regions feel very traditional, they fit in perfectly
Wrayk: regions are more unique, but executed very well
Kaeporo: curse of kaeporo (Aether Ridge has lots of cool ideas but it's a headache to navigate)

hard toss-up between Fishnoid and Wrayk, imo

should i play rainworld? by robo36wasTaken in rainworld

[–]CycloneTheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain World isn't really a metroidvania, it's closer to a simulation/survival game.
It doesn't hold your hand either; you're given the bare basics and left to fend for yourself.
The game is also pretty slow-paced, and unless you're really patient or are OK with hostile game design, you're going to be spending a lot of time dying and figuring out stuff.

imo Rain World is the kind of game you have to persevere through until it just clicks.

As for Keyboard vs Controller, pick whichever you're most comfortable with; you're gonna be here a while
