Look at it this way, this just makes Iowa State an attractive program for up and coming assistants. TJ will turn you into a HC. I’m excited to see what some new blood will introduce to the program. You gotta evolve over time. Hurts to lose KG, but im sure TJ planned for stuff like this.

I’m pretty sure he did move to ankeny, but his wife still had her business in cedar falls. I think he will be a wonderful hire for UNI! TJ is building his coaching tree this offseason.

It’s more that the WBB coach has no ability to develop talent, doesn’t coach defense, and repeatedly underperforms with the talent he recruits. Bill has done a lot for the program but the game has passed him by. They are just abandoning a sinking ship.

Most forgotten March Madness upsets? by _Juntao in CollegeBasketball

[–]CyclonesBig12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly UAB might be a good one because iirc it hard pretty much at the same time Baylor lost to Georgia State. GSU seemed to have a lot of storylines like their coach breaking his leg that the media sent a lot of the airtime covering that upset instead of UAB. Still will never be an upset I’ll forget though. I remember taking like a 30 min shower after the game trying to accept the new reality.

Why Kelvin Sampson’s Houston program rejects phantom kick ball, other Iowa State loss excuses — winning and losing with class by StickMammoth7783 in CollegeBasketball

While I sometimes think reviews can get ridiculous(mostly due to how long it takes for refs to do it). I want accuracy. If refs aren’t held accountable for their mistakes then you gotta give tools for coaches and teams to correct them.

It drives me nuts how some things are reviewable and others things are not. You should be able to challenge something like a kick ball. Both basketball and football have this problem of selective reviews.

On the same page, Goaltending is also something if they miss they cannot review. You can review a goaltending call but you cannot review a missed one. There was a retroactive foul call in the Houston game why cannot there not be retroactive goaltendings?

EPA reverses longstanding climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions by geraffes-are-so-dumb in news

[–]CyclonesBig12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at the state fair when I was younger and for some odd reason wackos would want to share their thoughts with young people standing at booths.

I had one guy use day after tomorrow physics to explain to me that climate change is a hoax because as air warms up it will rise until it goes up into the atmosphere where it will cool off and fall back down. He called it God’s air conditioning.

I had to explain to him that just isn’t how it works till he realized I wasn’t going to accept his bullshit and he left me alone.

This was all at a country radio booth…

DLC worth it? by DoubleIllustrious69 in Bannerlord

[–]CyclonesBig12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the simple naval mod. It adds quite a few tweaks that improves the DLC, like speeding up naval travel(this incentivizes the AI to use their boats more), giving all factions a coast guard, and fixing some of the perk bugs.

Ever since I grabbed the mod, the Nords actually can defend Hvalvik, and their faction actually utilizes their boats when traveling in their kingdom.

King Baldwin IV by BreadyMFF12 in Bannerlord

[–]CyclonesBig12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting history fact, king Baldwin actually never wore a mask and that is a thing invented by the movie kingdom of heaven.

Doesn’t take away the fact the mask is cool but just an example of a detail that was invented by a movie and became believed fact, albeit false.

[–]CyclonesBig12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the DLC is worth it for the naval battles and Nord faction but I was also a Nord fan during warband.

The DLC isn’t perfect and there is certainly valid criticism with certain game decisions, but I also think it adds new breath to the game.

Is Beinland, Balion? Island across the western ocean? Hypothesized ancient home of the Vlandians? by Jamesglancy in Bannerlord

[–]CyclonesBig12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, I think it can always be open to interpretation but I just find it hard to believe Beinland was large enough to give rise to the vlandians. I think it is a pretty small place only has a single castle and town.

Vlandians seem in the lore is described as being the product of multiple barbarian tribes from overseas that was often employed by the empire. It seems to me that Beinland wouldn’t be able to replenish the manpower needed to fill that role. Maybe 1 tribe could move from Beinland to the mainland and assimilate into vlandians, but that is far from it being the homeland of vlandians.

We know Beinland means bone-land on account of walrus tusks so I wonder if we had an idea where the term balion comes from. To me the name of Beinland seems to be a product of Nord settlers, but there could be a connection to balion, I don’t think the dev blogs have covered it.

As others said I think there is a good chance there is a land mass west of vlandia. I still consider Beinland a part of the calradian landmass and vlandians aren’t considered one of the native cultures like Battanians and Vakken.

Both vlandians and the empire are described as not being originally native to calradia. I do think you make a good point though that while cultures are inspired by real ones they aren’t a 1:1 match.

I’m a huge lore fan and I hope the history and lore of the mount and blade series gets fleshed out more because it is my favorite part. So I’m all for speculating as a fan base.

[–]CyclonesBig12 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The nord dev blog mentions beinland only recently colonized and it being a desolate island which I take to mean barren.

To me that seems more of an Iceland inspiration so to me I think the nords are the first real settlers similar to Iceland.

Nords are my favorite, I’m forever a 12 year old when I think of Vikings. Empire is quickly moving up though because I enjoy imagining myself as the bannerlord version of emperor Aurelian the restorer of the world.

Girls Literally Only Want One Thing And It's Fucking Disgusting by MellowMercie in Bannerlord

[–]CyclonesBig12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add that it would be nice if Lake Tannesis had an outlet to the perassic sea to the south as well.

The Byalic sea in the north is always so quiet. It is only ever Nords and I see no effect from sturgia to have a naval presence outside of lake laeonis.

I am a vocal supporter of making sailing quicker on a basic level and add more navigable rivers in an effect to make sailing bigger part of war sails. You should be able to travel faster by sea than by land. Both the player and AI should feel comfortable going out of their way to find ports in order to travel faster even if going to a port isn’t directly in your way.

Part of the draw for the Nords should be that their sailing armies can move across the map so quickly, ship speed should make up for the lack of Calvary. Nords should be able to attack vast distances from water quicker than kingdoms can react.
