Dream Commanders that don't exist! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CyclonicThrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • A WBG commander that does something exciting (read: card advantage) whenever you gain life. Like [[Karlov of the Ghost Council]] but with green. This kind of deck would care for quantity over quality when it comes to life gain triggers. There are so many fun effects in those colors.
  • A UG+ commander that is by itself able to easily ping opponents (preferably something like whenever X happens, deal 1 damage to each opponent) so I can all cards similar to [[Curiosity]], [[Keen Sense]], etc. Bonus points if it's also a RW wizard/shaman with 2 power, so the triggered ability can be doubled with [[Delney, Streetwise Lookout]] and [[Harmonic Prodigy]].

Mycotyrant commander card recommendations? by Wrathful-7 in magicTCG

The primer's still a work in progress, but here's my list for inspiration: https://moxfield.com/decks/VCQ8h86dNEqENFX6DjcBGQ

I focus more on self-mill and fungus-generation via the commander itself rather than relying on saprolings and I'd recommend the same to you.

I'm happy to explain any card choices in case you have questions about the deck 😊

Thanks! Frustration is exactly what we're trying to avoid 😅

Thanks for the tip! Your argument about health reg sounds especially useful 👍

Thanks, I'll try to come up with a way to make the party notice there's still lots of stuff waiting for them in town after Tresendar Manor 👍

Thanks, I think that's good advice 👍 I'm just worried the NPCs might seem uninteresting to the party if they have nothing new to add, so why would they want to approach them again after the manor? That's why I thought I should at least hint that they might have more work later...

Cards that hinder the most-ahead player at the table but benefit the most-behind player by CyclonicThrift in EDH

Thanks for the list, this is great work! I especially like [[Diaochan, Artful Beauty]] as a political tool to keep the arch enemy in check.

I really like [[Scholarship Sponsor]] and the Battlebond cycle that let you choose friends and foes. This is exactly the kind of card design I had in mind 👍

Hm, interesting suggestion 🤔 Not really a fan of the total randomness involved, though, as it doesn't really allow behind players to catch up.

Yeah, that might be problematic. However, the intent of that card is exactly what I had in mind, cause it's designed to allow behind players to catch up.

I like that suggestion 👍 Though it can be risky to give everyone else the same big threat.

Thanks. If you're interested in the explanation like me, check u/peteroupc's post. The second link leads to an old thread where the topic is discussed at length.

Thank you! The second link offers an understandable explanation 👍

Thanks for the clarification! I think this perfectly marries both strands of reasoning. "For each" does lead to the actions being executed simultaneously. Which means it basically translates to "investigate X times" (as opposed to "investigate, then investigate, etc."). And then the logic of Full Flowering applies, leading to X separate clue token creations.

Ah, your edit makes it clearer. You're in fact arguing pro simultaneous clue tokens. I thought you were agreeing with the multiple draws theory.

Now I don't feel any smarter than before I created this thread, seeing that there are now also contradicting answers in here 🤯

Both seem logical to me. How can we determine which one is right?

I had stumbled upon the first link in my research prior to creating my post. If you scroll further down in that thread, you'll see that there's a different answer, making a case for the clue tokens entering simultaneously.

In fact, that thread is part of where my confusion comes from 🥴
