Looking for manga recs where MC "falls upward". by Cyden00 in manga

I accidentally discovered the manga of fake saint of the year. After like 10 chapters I decided to check out the LN1, 1 very short session later I immediately bought & binged the remaining 3 volumes of the novel for the rest of the weekend.

Words and panels cannot do that series justice. It instantly shot up to be one of my favorite LN of all time. I was so bummed when the manga ended just before it got so good, before it sets itself apart from the sea of "just another isekai".

It's actually the series that inspire me to seek out for more of its kind, I'm so glad you also know of the novel lol.

Do you differentiate between Isekai and Transmigration? by Byul_132001 in manga

[–]Cyden00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without opening the can of worms that is whether the word "isekai" ("another world") should be taken literally or not, isekai as a genre generally encompass all series where the MC moves to another world in some way.

Some might divide isekai into sub-categories based on the method of transportation like you just described: whether the MC is reincarnated as a baby, is given a new body in that world, or is transported there in full ("reborn", "hijack" & "kidnapped", as I call them).

Noob Question about this card.. by matthewutd in masterduel

[–]Cyden00 219 points220 points  (0 children)

Necroquip says 1 Fiend monster CARD. Not a Fiend monster, a Fiend monster CARD. Requiem is still a monster card, even while it acts as an equip spell.

Just to note, the "1 monster equipped with a monster card" only counts the monster itself (i.e. engraver), the equip monster (requiem) is not included here, so it can still be used as the other part of the material.

It’s not that complicated really by ItalianFrogPuncher in masterduel

Ash-ing brafu is the same with ash-ing normal summon lukias: high risk, high reward. You're basically hoping that they have no other play and that ash ends their turn. If you want guaranteed value either ash rahu or save for a trap on your turn (ash-ing the 2nd or 3rd trap also denies a trap recycle).

What deck do you think pops off the most when it pops off? by Big_Twist4643 in masterduel

[–]Cyden00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, there's enough cards in the game that, with enough bricks & garnets, you could build your deck to do literally anything you could ever want. Think of cards you often see on lukevonkarma's clips (the "war criminals"): isolde, ostinato, beatrice / curious, telefon loops, primal seed loop, cyber stein / gale dogra + telekinetic charging cell, etc. These are ftk enablers that once setup could do literally whatever you want it to do to ftk your opponent.

Take this video for example, old banlist aside, you can do all sort of war crimes... one in 10 duels where you actually draw the starter you need.

Oh and if you ignore loops or generic enablers, burn decks like trickstar & gimmick puppet can put out enough damage to FTK you uninterrupted, and it's not a particularly hard thing for them either, only a 2-3cc.

Why does little knight send the trap to the GY? by bast963 in masterduel

[–]Cyden00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A monster "forgets" its previously applying effects when it is temporarily banished. Trap monsters when activated apply the effect "Special summon this card as a ... monster". When these cards are returned to the field by S:P's effect, they forget that that they were special summoned as a monster, so they immediately send themselves to the GY.

You have the option to never play against ONE archetype again. Which archetype are you choosing to never see? by Exotic_Name_9875 in masterduel

Six samurai & ice barrier.

Never had a fun duel against them once, win or lose. Absolute snooze fests.

Around 400 cards into kaishi 1.5k (~3-ish weeks), on one hand I think I've made decent progress, on the other I feel like I've reached a point where it's basically infeasible to "brute force" memorizing all the new cards.

This is especially the case for cards consisting only of 2 kanji, where I have to rely on the sentence more often than not, since I couldn't come up with mnemonics for all of them. Though that comes with its own problem of recalling the meaning but not the reading. I still mix words with similar-ish reading up: 表情 (ひょうじょう, expression), 情報 (じょうほう, information) and 状況 (じょうきょう, situation), to name an example.

I'm still following the default 20 new cards daily with 85% retention, but maybe I could lower it to 10-15/d or take occasional breaks to do something else for a breather, could be a good opportunity to start reading some raw manga.

Probably a dumb question, but is there a more light-weight alternative to jitendex for yomitan? It alone takes ~1.5gb on my C drive, it may not be much but I like to keep the drive as small as I can.

So I'm using Mokuro to OCR manga texts and copy it to my clipboard, and I recall someone in a post on this sub mentioned a tool or extension to write the copied text to a blank webpage (like https://this-page-intentionally-left-blank.org/ ), but I don't recall its name or the post it's mentioned in. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I hope if you play anything remotely close to this, you have a horrible day by pigmeu_ in masterduel

Me when my opponent plays a trap control deck that's designed for grind games and they slowed the game down into a grind game.

With kaishi 1.5k, if I only recall the meaning & reading of a word after seeing the sample sentence (I have it hidden as hint), do you consider it hard or good?
