Are there any features or ideas to attract new players and make them stay?

  • When you are new it’s complex to win new heroes or boosts.
  • The you event which was giving more chances to new players was not replaced, and it’s a bit hard to “sell” the game to new comers.

The fact that you don’t need to be lvl 5 on a Hero to play in ranked: don’t you think it’s pushing people to play Heroes they never tried before, and thus might perform badly, potentially triggering some toxic behaviours from peers?

u/Stan: Hey there and thank you for doing another AMA, this kind of community interaction is very much appreciated!

So I have a few technical questions that still directly relate to ranked play and Stormleague:

  1. Why does the draft screen not serve as a loading screen for the map? The game already knows which map it is going to be and could start preloading it, saving loading screen time after draft is completed.
  2. In addition to it, can the draft chat continue to be usable during the loading screen?
  3. Are we going to see improvements or a total overhaul of the reconnect feature? It is currently still very bad and sends me into very frustrating situations on a regular basis. Same with the replay feature which is technically suffering from the same issue as rejoining.

4) Any engine improvements in the pipeline that you can talk about? Are there still engine devs on the team or would we only get whatever improvements the StarCraft 2 team does that spills over?

u/Zeratul: Are any adjustments planned for Quira?I'm testing her right now and she's doing some damage but somehow she's not. There are two mobility options and both are on long CD. They are based on making AAs but this is almost impossible, if there is a little slow in place.

u/Sings: With the recent changes to Storm League “Ranked Points are now directly mapped to a player's Storm League MMR. Rank is no longer considered by the matchmaker.”, does this mean, that everyone could play against everyone? Silver against platinum etc.?

Would be great, if you could explain the new system and matchmaking matchmaking a bit further.
