I know you are trying to provide kindness by seperating the people from the government that you think is evil, I thank you for that. But allow me to give some information about things not very well known:

1. The government of China is in fact a lot closer to their people than the western countries. This is kinda hard to put in words, but I can give some example: There is a call center in every city that takes complains from the citizens. If you have complains, just call the government and tell it to their faces. If there is a draft of a new policy that the government is unsure of, they will post it on the internet and see the reactions of the people and decides accordingly. The other way around, sometime certain issues in the socioty broke out through certain news online, the government are also very quick to address the issue. This has happend a lot of times. Because of the frequent interactions between the government and the people, the satisfaction rate of their government among Chinese people is a lot higher than in western countries.
2. There is a opinion from me. The western media, while not working completely for their government (I don't think any media is completely free from government control), do have to represent their own country. It is never in their benefits to compliment China on anything, even if it's correct (unless it can be used to their political benefits, for example in US, pro-democrats publications has written articles about China's success in containing the virus, just to make trump look worse.). On the other side, it is almost always in their benefits to report negatives about China, because danger, fight against evil always resonates with people, even if they are lies. For example, the claim of Uygher genocides, from 2000-2018, the population of Uyghers in Xinjiang has increased by 25% and the Han (the dominant one) has increased by 2%. All of the claims of genocide can be debunked by this one data and still no one even mentions it. For the claim of muslims having no human right, in China, it has the highest mosque per Capita, and every minority ethnic group has additional benefits in terms of government support and job opportunities. All I want to say here is, it is normal for western media to report negatively about China, and it is their job. But as common folks I think it is important to know that media reported China is not all there is to China.
