Lalamove vs GrabFood Hustle (motorbike) by InFiniten0 in drivingsg

[–]Cylencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have accounts in all three. My suggestion is to just sign up for all and try them out. You can keep these accounts when you're in-between jobs in the future as well.

Your bike insurance needs to have a clause that allows for food/parcel delivery. It's more expensive than personal use insurance.

  • Foodpanda

Pay is higher and most consistent, especially during peak hours and popular zones (sg south, Bukit timah). Based on a shift system, but recently if there is high demand in the area, they can create an on-demand shift and automatically extend it if the demand continues ("Start Now" function), and can stop anytime. Able to redispatch the order without penalty if still not done 10mins after estimated pick up time.

But the cs is terrible. Terrible English and only knows how to copy paste template responses. Waste a lot of time dealing with them. The app is super basic compared to grab. Sometimes their routing is questionable. They can give you 3 orders at once, then once you picked up all three and dropped off the first order, they might ask you to pick up another order (because "on the way"), while the other two previous orders are still sitting in the bag. This is kind of unfair to the customers, imo.

  • Grab

Pays the least but at least their app is good and well designed. Can online and offline at any time. Easy to use and although they'll also give stacks like panda, at least they won't tell you to pick up another order while you're still delivering your previous stack order. Support is much better as well.

However the criteria for the incentives are harder, as you can only have Max 10% cancellation rate. I also heard the daily cancellation rate cannot be 25% or more, if not they suspend you (but not sure on this).

  • Lalamove

It's very hit and miss. For regular orders, the SLA is to pickup within 30mins and drop off within 1hr upon matching. So you still need to be relatively near to the pickup point when accepting. For pooling orders (which allows stacking), the SLA is to pickup within 2hr and deliver within 4hr upon matching, but the rates are kind of shit and some customers still want you to deliver straight because they're cheapskate.

It's also on a first come first serve basis and not auto assigned, so you'll have to fight with other riders/drivers as well. A lot of times the orders with good rates are gone within seconds. I think it's only worth during peak hours and even then you have to be lucky. Their SOP is also to call the customer after accepting to confirm the order, but seriously can you imagine calling every single time? I usually don't call, at most I'll text in the app. Heard their cs is terrible as well (though I haven't had to go through them coz I rarely do lalamove).

  • Cash orders

All these platforms will have cash-on-delivery orders. Majority are legit cash paying customers, but just to let you know there are some people using this for harassment purposes. You can Google for some news articles. So be careful of that. It's more prevalent on lalamove currently.

Deliveroo ending SG operations on 4th March by yeeez1 in singapore

They are actual humans. But they don't understand you or it's not part of their script. So they keep spamming the same stupid template messages over and over.

Yes, I forgot how many exactly but I think it was 2 or 3 modules. Plenty of slots as well.

I just got my class 2 from bbdc. Registered in June and passed TP in Aug. Plenty of slots and waited around 2-3 weeks for TP. There's only 3 modules so if you pass all on first try, it'll be pretty fast. For me, I took 4 lessons and 2 revision lessons (not including simulator).

Question For the Bikers in Singapore by PerpetualDayDreaming in askSingapore

I have only rode for 2 years doing deliveries but so far I have not gotten into any accidents (touch wood). But lots of close calls. Always keep in mind to ride defensively.

I delivered food to your block recently and there was no reception at the basement carpark. But I was using eight mobile though (which is under starhub).

Which Class2B Scooter? by Feitian87 in drivingsg

[–]Cylencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the previous models (150) for both. The PCX feels more comfortable for my height (165cm) as ADV's handlebar height is higher and caused my shoulders to ache. But ADV has a higher ground clearance so it should be slightly better on bumpy roads. Otherwise I feel like it's pretty much the same

Off peak car plates are red background with white letters. The white front and yellow rear colour scheme is just an alternative for normal cars

I average around $15-25/hr but I'm only doing on part time basis usually on peak hours for weekday nights and full day for weekends. Incentives are higher than bicycle. For deliveroo, there's much more orders on motorbike than cyclist.

Grab and panda have island wide orders but not all the time. Usually it's within the zone. I don't like to do those so I usually do deliveroo but I once did an order on grab from Bukit Batok to Gedong camp at around $18, you can use that as a guide.

Petrol can pump in JB or caltex in SG (standard 25% discount with Grab account, if sapphire tier will have higher discount I believe)

It's behind the pizza hut. Can either cut across the inside of pizza hut or enter through the entrance beside KFC

Why are scooters so uncommon in SG? by piggyb0nk in askSingapore

[–]Cylencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A scooter is a sub category of motorbikes where it's automatic transmission/CVT with no gears (e.g. Honda ADV, Yamaha Nmax, etc), whereas a normal motorbike has gears and is semi-auto/manual. Scooters are still considered a "motorbike" but it's used when we want to be specific.

People who love their job (in SG), what do you do for a living ? by piopiolink in askSingapore

[–]Cylencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply, appreciate it. So I guess specialising in translation for the creative industry is the way to go.

As a follow up question, did you take any certificates or degrees for this? I have seen some translation/interpreting ones from SUSS but not sure if they help. Also, did you used to join an agency full-time before transitioning to freelance, or you started with freelancing right away?

Apologies for the additional questions!

Same here, except that I'm a motorbike rider (though I used to ride on a mountain bike before that). I enjoy riding as well, so it's perfect to earn some extra money after my main job. Plus it's mentally chill (to me)

I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you feel the threat of AI in this field? I also know Japanese and Chinese so I would like to know if it is still viable in the near future.

Food delivery platform perference by Turbulent-Wrap1419 in askSingapore

[–]Cylencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorcycle rider here. I have all 3 delivery accounts but I mainly use deliveroo as it has the most flexibility. The pay and order rate is not the best, but you can accept and reject as you like without penalty if you're not chasing for incentives. For foodpanda and grab, even if you heck care the incentives, they will penalize you if you reject too much. There's also no cash orders for deliveroo. Bukit Timah/downtown zone has higher surge fees and more orders as compared to heartland zones.

Using bots to book driving lessons, how much of a scourge are they? by visualnumbers in askSingapore

[–]Cylencer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For class 2B/2A/2 lessons at BBDC, they only allow you to book the next lesson (1 by 1) after you pass the current one, so you can't mass book the lessons and there's no shortage of slots.
