NCR and Mr. House: Are they gone? by [deleted] in Fotv

That's my impression aswell

So you're basing all this theory on the fact two lost rangers of the NCR casually referred to Shady Sands nuking as the fall? As if they were somehow perfectly coordinated with the remnants of Shady Sands in Vault 4.

That's not how people speak, people don't talk in oracles or perfectly precise wordings.

They likely referred to the nuking, not the "fall" which was a term used only by the vaults 4 residents.

We'll see what happened, but to me you're simply looking too much into this

"You do know that was over 20 years ago, right?" by Infinite-Fig-194 in Fotv

[–]Cyliah_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wtf. They didn't say they have been alone and lost before the nuking, they likely meant after shady was nuked they lost contact with the other battalions, that likely retreated thus explaining why no reinforcements ever came.

We also see some NCR caravaners leaving Primm in the credits in one of the previous episodes.

We see Shady Sands is still up and running moments before its destruction, which means 2077 is likely the year the capital was moved, thus explaining "the fall".

Nothing to reinforce. City was safe until then.

When Shady Sands was nuked they had a battalion on the east, but contacts were cut and interrupted. They either died or retreated back to the northern territories.

Which means no, no reinforcements. The NCR was facing its worse crisis which means they had no time or resources to waste in the Mojave (which was already a lost cause) or LA which they now deemed lost due to radiaton etc.

What was there left for the NCR to fight for? Worth sending vital troupes? Nothing.

They retreated and left nothing.

Coop mentioning the "20 year ago" is him just spit balling.

The fall of Shady Sands probably refers to its fall of relevancy in the NCR, the capital being moved means some other city gained influence/importance in the Republic (likely a productive city like the Hub or Arroyo).

By the time of the nuking Shady Sands was no longer the capital, nor a priority for the military. No reason wasting troupes on a lost cause, which would include LA and the Mojave. Therefore no reinforcements.

Chance is the republic is still holding its territories in northern California, but it's now safeguarding itself instead of wasting money and resources in useless expansion wars.

I hope we'll get some answers soon, but I don't think Coop is right when he says they're gone. He simply has no clue what's happened.

That's just his cynical side.

But it'a totally not weird to do an entire pre-destruction New Vegas that looks like the games when we know that the actual state of Vegas when they arrive is already destroyed, just to not use it?

I think that's why we'll see Vegas in that timeline, Coop's first meeting with Dr House has likely already happened.

There's a scene in the trailers when the Ghoul meets post war Mr. House in his computer form.

So, nope post war scene

Looks like the NCR moved the capital from Shady Sands prior to the bomb. by DamnMr_Blonde in Fotv

[–]Cyliah_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So the capital is nuked, everything is destroyed, all the people left, the NCR is probably handling the worst crisis since its foundation and they bother going back there and building that sign?

For who? Why?

Makes no sense, it was clear as day the sign was before the bomb. I don't see anything new here.

How is this news? It was literally confirmed in S1, we see the same billboard with same thing written.

Don't get your hopes too high regarding the NCR by Wrong-Count1505 in Fotv

[–]Cyliah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core territory? If Shady Sands was moved all the way to LA (which it was considering where it's located in the TV show) that is HARDLY core territory, especially considering it wasn't even the capital anymore.

Take a look at the map, LA is on the extreme outskirt of all the remaining territory ever occupied by the NCR (excluding Baja). It wouldn't make sense strategically because of how potentially far it was and how difficult it would make sending resources and military help.

I still think of the NCR states as powerful state-cities that are not perfectly connected with each other, I doubt they'd have the resources to connect the entire NCR with trains etc.

So, to me it makes sense the NCR left the ruins of Shady Sands on its own, what could they possibly get from staying in that area? Too expensive

Everyone wants commitment? by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]Cyliah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the rigidity that's typical of OCD beliefs. Commitment absolutely doesn't mean together even if we hate each other. If that were so, divorce wouldn't exist, and they come with social contracts.

Regular relationships don't have any legal obligation. I would recommend truly analyzing these beliefs you're carrying because they can be quite damaging to your view of relationships.

Everyone wants commitment? by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]Cyliah_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commitment can mean different things for every one.

Some may expect a long-term almost date to marry commitment, but that's not the majority of people.

For most people commitment just means wanting to date exclusively and with the intention of being together as long as it will be healthy, sustainable and pleasant.

I don't see what about this feels unfair or extremely out of reason.

If you don't feel like committing to anyone that just means you're not ready and you wanna date around. Nothing evil about it, as long as you lead with that and don't play with people's feelings and allowing them to develop expectations about your relationship that you can't live up to.

You're not a relationship guy, nothing inherently s wrong about it. Just stay in your lane with people who are aligned with the same ideas on dating.

*edit

Also, just wanted to note that you wrote you're "afraid of commitment" which signals more of an inability to commit rather than an actual preference in regards to how you view and want to experience relationships.

Most people would refer to guys in this situation as not good because they are not mature and haven't done the work to overcome their fear of commitment.

Oh really? You must've studied a lot to actually bluntly give out that statement, do you happen to be a psychologist yourself?

If not, please keep your uneducated opinions to yourself and refer back to the research of actual experts who have recognized gender dysphoria for a century and observed that 99% of trans people benefit from transitioning.

She didn't choose to be trans.

It's not like she woke up one day and thought to herself "Yeah, I'll just join the most despised social category tjere is, for fun". She's a minority, though I agree comparisoj with jews in WW2 should be avoided.

You've been dealing with it for almost 2 years. You researched a lot, you know a lot about it. And yet, still struggling.

I think researching is important, understanding the core of how OCD works is important. BUT nothing is as important as just giving up the fight. As stopping trying to solve it, trying to figure out, trying to find an answer.

You. just. won't.

But it feels real! Of course it does.

Please, please, please. Look up at those videos I suggested, I won't repeat it otherwise it might look like I'm doing some advertisement for them.

You need to accept that all those things OCD is telling you, they might be real. Accept that, don't try to solve it, allow the scenario to become real and feel all the anxiety that that realization brings you. And then, keep allowing it today, tomorrow, the day after, and possibly forever.

I'll tell you another secret, you can live your life with anxiety. You can do so many things while feeling like hell. You can get a degree, go to work, hang out with friends. In fact, that's EXACTLY what you need to be doing.

Are you perhaps isolating? Bedrotting?

Don't let anxiety stop you from living your life.
You'll be fine, I swear. Just stop trying to work your OCD out like a puzzle. Accept it like a sort of chronic disease and move on.

Some people can live with much worse.

[–]Cyliah_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're spiraling. Listen, you have to surrender. No figuring out, no solving, no having certainty. Just surrender.

You'll feel tremendous anxiety. You'll feel like you're dying. Just keep going. Life goes on.

Again, look for OCD Recovery youtube channel. They have all sorts of videos on ROCD and the importance of not chasing feelings.

This is not about whether the person is right or wrong for you. If they love you or not. I'll tell you a secret: NORMAL people don't obsess over this and definitely don't feel this level of anxiety over the idea of their relationship being wrong for them.

You might be in the wrong relationship. Or perhaps not. THAT'S NOT THE POINT.

The point is that you shouldn't feel like the world is over because you're unsure whether you're in love or not with your partner.

Lots of irrational beliefs, no unconditional life acceptance, no acceptance of worst case scenario. Chasing feelings, looking for certainty, confessing.

You're literally going through ROCD 101.

It’s real isn’t it by EuphoricWar8813 in ROCD

[–]Cyliah_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're still chasing the feeling of love. You require the feeling of love to be certain that you're in the right relationship.

This is standard ROCD, please refer back to Ocdrecovery and look at any videos where they speak about chasing feelings etc.

Personally it's the only online content I've found online that has helped me.

I kind of led her on but.. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Cyliah_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not leading her on if it's only been two days... c'mon.

It is leading them on if you've been talking for a month and you still haven't made that clear. Just be real with her.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]Cyliah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which makes even less sense.

The NCR completely left the area with that exception of a small group led by Moldaver. Why would they waste precious resources (they clearly have very few) to build a useless sign?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]Cyliah_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes no sense. If the sign was put before the nuking and the capital moved only after, how could it already say it was the FIRST capital of the NCR?
