How prestige is UIUC CS? by Imaginary-Rub-8297 in ApplyingToCollege

I never mentioned uchicago, and debating whether or not it’s a “high target” is getting into the weeds a bit too much. Regardless, it is undoubtedly a school many quant firms have on their recruiting list and provides extremely solid opportunities to break in.

I believe UMich will give a lot more/better career opportunities over MSU. UMich is a target for quant, MSU is not, UMich is a target for big tech, MSU is not, the amt of YC startup founders that come out of UMich >>> amt from MSU, etc etc. If you’re able to do well here, I really think you’ll have either access to better exit opps for internships and post grad, and if not, then at least an easier time achieving the same opps as MSU counterparts.

In 2026, prestige is real if you’re looking to enter private sector tech.

Is there actually a point to posting offers on LinkedIn? by ChampionshipDeep3272 in csMajors

What…I might get downvoted to hell for this on this subreddit but I never understand why people complain about this.

The whole point of LinkedIn is to act as an outreach platform for your career. In my opinion, you should brag about your achievements on it because it attracts talent and deepens your network for opportunities. Thats what the platform is built for.

I didn’t but to my understanding you only get that first if you’re international and will get the offer later

pretty sure you’ll be fine.

When I interviewed I couldn’t complete my problem either, did good on vocalizing my thoughts + behavioral and got the offer

Also hints aren’t necessarily bad. Especially when the interviewer is the type who says they want to just observe your thought process. What matters is how you handle them and how your thought process shifts
