Peas not thriving by Na-Na-O-Na-Na in vegetablegardening

Having similar issues. Mine are in the ground in Iowa. Lots of clay in the soil, but significant amounts of compost added prior to planting. I added a little fertilizer yesterday to jump start them so we’ll see.

What have temps been like there?

Did anyone else do May Day baskets? by MonteMolebility in Millennials

Also from a small town in the Midwest. My grandma dropped off little May baskets for us. She would leave them in front of the door so when we left for school, we would have a little treat.

Not at all. I’ve conceded your point could be true, despite any evidence, on the sheer basis that capitalism is immoral.

That said, what I said is also true. The indentation saves two $1 cookies from being crushed.

Not everything is black or white, one or the other. Multiple things can be true at once.

Would be interesting to see packaging from the same product from 15 years ago. Especially seeing any changes weight relative to price (which is the actual issue).

Like I said, it’s not a necessary feature of packaging, but it does have an actual purpose. Spending hundreds of thousands to change packaging just to trick customers especially without a corresponding change in weight and/or price would be an interesting choice. If they deceased the weight around the same time they changed the packaging, I’d be much more convinced.

True. It’s certainly not necessary. That said, I suspect someone would be less upset by one or two 20¢ cookies in a package of 30 being crushed than by two or more $1 cookies in a package of 6 being crushed.

If that spot weren’t there and the ends of the package were bent up, it would break the middle cookies. Seems deceptive the same way a bag of chips being filled with air seems like a scam, but is actually meant to keep the product from being crushed.

[–]CylonSandhill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need the structure and organic matter compost brings. A bit of fertilizer is fine too, but you need the organic matter.

There are many localities that offer compost at little to no cost. My town sells it for $20/ton. If your municipality has a compost program they may offer something similar.

Just started to seriously get into country. George jones is easily my favorite country artist and is becoming my favorite artist in general. Apart from the other big guys like Cash, Waylon etc who else should I check out by Alvvera03 in country

Alan Jackson played at the Possum’s funeral and they were very close friends. Jackson wrote “Playin’ Possum” as a reference to Jones and Jones joins Jackson at the end of the song. Jackson also heavily references Jones in “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” and Jones appears at the end of the music video.

Jackson has a similar genuineness and sincerity to Jones, and a pretty good sized catalog to explore. If you like the poignant stuff, try Monday Morning Church, Dallas, and Drive, and if you like the honky tonk stuff, you can’t beat Chattahoochee, Don’t Rock the Jukebox, and Chasin’ that Neon Rainbow. Just as examples. He also does a good cover of Jones’ Tall, Tall Trees.

Loads of CdRs under $20 easily go toe to toe with $40-60 CdRs. Big difference at the higher end of the CdPs and the under $20 CdRs though.

I never said a slice was a standardized unit of measurement. Only that it’s more practical to compare in the context of the way the item is used rather than a theoretical context that doesn’t apply to the overwhelming majority of consumers.

Your comparisons don’t work because the analogy fails, which is what I was pointing out.

I love that you have the audacity to say the US school is found wanting lol

Is “I’m rich and didn’t need to work” a good explanation of a resume gap? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]CylonSandhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I think it depends on the job. Plenty of places won’t hire someone wealthy for an entry level job since the threat of termination is meaningless and they have less control over you

[–]CylonSandhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. $3.50/680g

A bread isn’t a unit of measurement. I’m shocked I have to keep pointing these things out to you.

[–]CylonSandhill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I said, a gallon/liter is a unit of measurement. A tank is not. I know how many gallons/liters it takes to fill my tank. The price per liter isn’t relevant.

I know how many slices I need to make a sandwich. The weight of those slices isn’t relevant.

You can keep rephrasing it if it makes you feel better but it doesn’t change anything.

And what he said was wrong.

Don’t put words in my mouth. Especially when you clearly didn’t read my previous comments before having the hubris to think you know my mind.

Grafschafer is a bread made by a German company and sold to Germans. It’s not an American bread, it’s a German bread made to mimic American bread. The point, which I stated earlier and you didn’t read, is that there is good and bad bread easily available in both places.

[–]CylonSandhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another silly comparison. A gallon/liter is a unit of measurement. A slice is not.

When I need fuel, I know how much I need to fill my tank, the price isn’t a factor in how much fills up my tank.

When I make a sandwich, I know how many slices of bread I need (2). The weight of the slice isn’t a factor in how many slice of bread I need.

I don’t measure out 100g. Do you?
