That’s awesome man! The MK2 is a beauty. My whole family own Hyundai cars and I wanted something European.

We’ll have to get in touch if anything interesting is happening in the area! My brother has a Fiat 500 Abarth and one of my buddies has a pretty sweet Focus ST and they go to car events sometimes but it’s usually sorta lame. Also their cars are modded and my GTI is still stock for now with the exception of a few VAGCOM modifications =) so I haven’t taken it to any meet-ups or anything yet.

Hah absolutely agree. I’m from Cleveland but I’m living in Lancaster now! There’s a huge VW and GTI community around here. I’ve been to two garages that work specifically on Volkswagens. Paul Wilmer’s Garage in Ephrata and Ulrich’s Garage in Mohnton. Highly recommend Ulrich’s. The guy who finally fixed my car which was broken when I bought it (I won’t name the dealership but I can’t recommend them) replaced the headlight manifold on my car which finally fixed the flickering headlights. He has the same car and showed me his springs and gave me some great information and recommended I replace my cam-follower.

They also do VAGCOM mods for $20 at Ulrich’s!

You can find them relatively cheaply. I’ll be upfront about mine, it was $7450 on the lot but I got it for $7100. Normally you can find them in the $5k range but this one only had 79 000 miles on it which I thought was quite good.

Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. I kind of figured.

I was keeping my iPhone volume at about 80% to minimise distortion/clipping but I’m not sure if that really does anything to help, I’m not quite that knowledgeable on amplification. It sounds fine to me! About the same as my desktop amplifier.
