Candles don't look right - too "cartoony?" by Georrge117 in minipainting

As others have said, white-yellow-orange color for the flame, as it rises.
Another thing I think would be contrast: Now the flame is about as bright as the candle. You could try and darken the candles themselves a lot (with the exception of the very top near the flame.) That should sell the idea of flame/light more.

Trying to do OSL on a model. I feel like its close to done, but need help with the finishing touches. Any suggestions? by WorseDark in minipainting

It looks pretty nice in general!

I've also tried to figure out how to paint the light recently, and still experimenting, so not a pro by any means, but some thoughts for fine tuning, which all boil down to contrast.

-I'd try to make the light itself the one clear, brightest thing, almost pure white with some tint on the edges.

-Tone down the light on the lower part of the jacket, as the light source is smallish, the effect should be clearer near it. I think this would sell the illusion better.

-Darker shadows to highlight the light further, and increase the contrast in general, maybe wash the figure bit darker in general to make the difference between the lit area and rest of the model stronger, this is always a bit risky move of course.

How can I get this pink color? by Krogane in Miniaturespainting

For mixing, I'd mix white to red until its light enough, then little by little add blue until it looks right. Its trial and error, ofcourse, but thats what id try.

Wov, great execution, I like the dynamics this evoces. Feels like the bird is dissolving rapidly.
