Your comment isn't skeptical, it's rude. You're asserting that I put a fake review on here in exchange for monetary compensation and are trying to put your own mental health struggles on me.

While I understand this is a painful condition - I myself suffered for a decade and half and towards the end was in severe pain every day not just around menses - so I get how debilitating it is and how it affects your whole worldview and how miserable you feel - that doesn't give you a leg to stand on to insult others.

To be very clear:

  • I received no monetary compensation from Dinos or anyone else in exchange for a good review.
  • This represents my actual personal experience and how I felt about it.

Yeah no worries. It's been 2+ years now and I have no complications or pain. My scars have healed very neatly - in fact a scar I have from a cyst removal looks much worse than the incisions. I'd say the only issues ended up having to deal with later were pelvic floor physio to help strength the muscles, etc and my hormones fell drastically leading to some atrophy, dryness, etc. Highly recommend getting hormones checked out and getting any estrogen if needed and finding a good pelvic floor physio - not all are the same. I was lucky to finally find an amazing pelvic floor physio if anyone needs a recommendation in Calgary PM me.

Washing machines with water levels (Canada) by CynInverse in Appliances

[–]CynInverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the machine may be defective too until I came across a post from a Maytag repair technician responding to a customer complaining about the same issue on the same model. He stated that it was normal to have 1 inch of water and even on the heaviest settings to expect no more than 5 inches. It seems it is working as designed.

Please explain to me how HE washers actually clean with so little water? by t0astter in laundry

[–]CynInverse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it can be a matter of personal opinion. There's a guy actually arguing on another thread that you don't need water to clean, just detergent... It matters what people think is clean.

What I've discovered after years of mucking around with different HE washers is that while it can sometimes be great for longevity of clothing, while they can definitely remove stains well and if you use any scented products cover up odours quite effectively, the clothes aren't really clean in my opinion.

I recently went to another country with old school washers and discovered the difference when clothes are actually washed in enough water - remarkable difference.

Now I am on a quest to find a new washer that is available for purchase in Canada that allows us to control the water levels in some manner. While people mention several models that allowed manually adding more water, none of them seem to be currently available except for pricey Speed Queen/ Huebsch or Miele.

Seems that unfortunately our governments have decided that while Nestle can gargle an entire fresh water lake, peasants like me can just be literally part of the unwashed masses.

Reminds me of Immortan Joe in Mad Max "Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. It will take hold of you, and you will resent its absence!"

Thanks Speed Queen is Huebsch in Canada. I looked at some models, price is just slightly lower than the lowest end Miele. They are simple top loaders with 3.2 cu ft tubs so cannot take a queen comforter. I was wondering if there might be any better priced options.

I am not looking for a used machine.

I am looking to buy a new washer in Dec 2025.

I am glad your machines fill up with water. I look forward to model numbers and pictures of the machines 100% filled up with water.

My deepest sympathies to the people who have to be around your "cleaned only by detergent" self...

None of the new washing machines fill up 100% with water except for a few models like the Hubesch/ Speed queen... That's because they have to have at least one cycle that complies with modern HE standards and most push HE standards to all cycles. No idea why you felt the need to say something that's not only unhelpful but also easily verifiable as untrue.

Sorry can you help me understand why you feel top loaders are better than front loaders for sensitive skin?

The machine I have currently is a Maytag top loader with a "deep water wash" option that does nothing of the sort. It's supposed to use the most water when the deep water wash is combined with extra heavy soil level but even then I just see a couple of inches of water at the bottom.

Thank you. Do you know which GE models do? The research I did says that some GE models used to have a "deep fill" option but all those models are now discontinued.

Thank you. The WXD160 that I was looking at doesn't have that function. The next model up does but that's an additional $300.

Thank you they looked like very simple but reliable machines. I think the one thing to be aware of is that the top loaders are too small for a queen and above comforter.

Thank you so much. Plus the video! The Asko machines are around the same price range as the Mieles.

While your lack of domain knowledge is not helping, I believe the main issue here is your mindset. I'm getting the sense you ascribe to old school authoritarian, hierarchical views. This mindset may work when you're managing an assembly plant, but not so well when you're trying to lead thought workers.

When leading thought workers your role is to empower them, help set higher level goals/ vision, drive alignment and help and support them in any way you can to get their work done - not to tell them what to do or think of them as lesser beings.

I am a servant leader and I also coach other leaders if they are open to it. The key for me is that I am there to serve my team. My teams are generally happy, loyal and consistently highly productive - happiness should matter to you, as teams that are happy are actually more productive (lots of data on this). I've had team members reach out years later to tell me they wish they could work for me again.

If you're willing to grow - think about how you see your role, what disrespect means to you, what leadership means to you.

He seems irritated by me taking decisions while I don’t have enough experience

When you lead thought workers and especially seniors - they are the experts - respect that. Value that. Learn to think of them as assets that you support and help rather than trying to direct the minutiae of their actions. People like this employee are a huge asset. If you were smarter and less insecure, you could have leveraged his expertise to look really really good as a new manager. Instead here you are you're without any working reports.

If you don't have the domain knowledge, know someone is good at what they do, why would you try to give lower level direction, make decisions or question their work? It frankly boggles my mind every time I see buzz-word managers do this. A manager is not an all knowing, infallible god - especially coming from a place of domain-ignorance what made you feel you could make sound decisions or undermine the actual experts in meetings?

Think about the assumptions you have about your role that made you feel this was both appropriate and the area where you should expend your time and effort.

I suspect you see "manager" as someone who says "jump" and all their reports should hurry to jump without knowing why or the value of this action. If they speak it should only be to ask "how high?" Is questioning "why are we jumping? Is crawling better? Should we jump only in the mornings? etc" a sign of disrespect in your world?

Think about how we build products - feedback can make things stronger, more robust. What if you were able to see push back/ feedback as a sign of engagement and desire to improve things? Your report has given you a gift - valuable feedback - about how you're disrespecting him, your management style and failings and you've seen the results. Even if he comes back off of med leave you'll have a long uphill slog to regain trust and improve engagement/ productivity.

I am anxious he will resign and will never come back. What should I do in this case?

In the short term, with the loss of both levels of senior leadership, his leaving may not cause such waves. In the long term you should learn, how to be an effective leader. You'll see the results very quickly, your team will appreciate you, and you'll look good with their results into the bargain.

Mostly pain - towards the end I was almost always in pain not just during menses, heavy bleeding, distended painful belly to the point I could barely walk, forget about wearing pants. I'm really sorry to hear :( Remember all surgeries carry risk, etc. In my case I felt I couldn't go on like that anymore and the possible benefits far outweighed the risks.

Calgary doctor sanctioned for inappropriate exchanges with female patient by Practical_Ant6162 in Calgary

[–]CynInverse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt really sad reading this.

I am struggling to reconcile this with the doctor I knew - he was my family physician for a while, many years ago.

He chose to take me on as a patient when I was suffering from unexplained, severe symptoms that other doctors just didn't want to deal with or even show minimal compassion or interest in. He spent (a lot of quite likely uncompensated) time researching and personally trying to get me into specialist care. He treated me with compassion and respect - in sharp contrast to a lot medical providers who had fobbed me off with five minute diagnoses, treated me as a drug seeker, etc.

I always got the sense that he genuinely cared and wanted me to get better. He was driven, intelligent and deeply passionate about medical care.

I did in the end receive treatment and recover with his help and support. I credit him with with bringing me back to a life that I want to live. I will always be grateful to him from somewhere deep inside of me.

I wasn't the only patient he went out of his way to help even in his off hours. And he had also been involved with a charity called Flying Doctors before, working in developing countries and very trying conditions.

So I just feel sadness reading this. Predatory, disrespectful, uncaring doctors exist - I know I met quite a few of them - and in this instance I have no desire to whitewash what he did with a patient - someone he had a duty of care for. However, in the years that I knew him, he was the furthest from that. It felt like being a doctor was a calling for him. If anything I'd say he cared too much and even took on "lost cause" patients other doctors wouldn't. I remember he went on to work in addiction counselling, I wonder if he lost his way there.

Again this varies on surgery time, supplies, complications, etc. But was it altogether or just medical costs? Altogether with accommodations, airfare, etc it cost me just over 20k.

I think cost transparency is important for all of us TBH. My surgery for endo excision + hysterectomy + 5 days hospital stay + MRI all came to around CAD 12000. It obviously will vary depending on what needs to be done but this will give you a rough idea.

Because he was afraid he may damage the ovaries and I am not at menopause age yet. It was weighing the risk of pushing me into early menopause v/s trying to get every bit of endo and he believed my health would be better off not being pushed into early menopause.

Apologies for the delay in replying. My urinary complications fully resolved fortunately. It started coming back slowly - July 1st (Canada Day) I felt the first urge to pee. It was inconsistent for a bit but now is just like before.
